Assertion failed in buffer.c
dovecot-0.99.10.5-0.FC2 I have had a report from a user that when accessing their inbox, the connection is suddenly dropped. Dovecot reports the following:- imap(user): file buffer.c: line 357 (buffer_set_start_pos): assertion failed: (abs_pos <= I_MIN(buf->used, buf->limit)) From searching the list, I found an indication that it is a problem with an individual message. Dovecot Local Delivery Agent
Hi I noticed in a post that Timo might start work on a LDA Great! If so, here is something I would really like included. Support for PAM There is quite a lengthy reason behind this. In my organisation, user accounts are created on ldap. It is up to the services to create home directories whenever the user first uses them. For instance, Samba will do this the first time they connect to their

IPv6
Can anyone inform me if voip can be used on a IPv6 network? Does any hard phones/soft phones/Asterisk support it? Google told me that there was/is a bounty on it, but that expired august last year. Furthermore, there used to be a patch (Bernhard Schmidt), but that one is about a year old. I presume it can't be used on recent versions of "*" Hans -- pgp-id: 926EBB12

Problems with Outlook 2002 SP3 & Dovecot 0.99.13 Redux
Hi, I posted this question a while back and didn't get much response. Since then, I've done a bit more experimenting and wonder if someone can help me move forward towards resolution. The orignal question... > I'm running Dovecot0.99.13 on Fedora Core 3 and things work fine when using either > Thunderbird 1.0 or Outlook Express as IMAP clients. Outlook (2002 SP3) on

Outlook anonymous IMAP login
Hello guys, I'm trying to setup anonymous IMAP login on a bunch of Outlook clients, but it doesn't seems to work. I'm using dovecot-0.99.14-r1, on a Gentoo Linux OS. Using command line anonymous login, it's working just fine: youri / # telnet localhost 143 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. * OK dovecot ready. . CAPABILITY *

SIP/H323 modules for netfilter
Linux does not have it's own sip/h323 modules (ip_conntrack_sip and ip_conntrack_h323), however I have found these modules available in the Linksys WRT54GS open source firmware. Would it be legal to use these modules with another Linux distribution (eg, RedHat, Gentoo, Debian..)? -- Chris Hills IT Services North East Worcestershire College

I need to connect up to sixteen phones per building, I can use a cheap hub, but POE would be useful. Is there a cheap POE hub available? Everything I have seen has been expensive. Chris Mason

RE: Missed config option
I am trying to sync a set of maildir folders from a dovecot server and a different imap server on a different host. Using a perl tool called imapsync. The tool says the following about the two servers capabilities: >From capability : IMAP4rev1 SORT THREAD=REFERENCES MULTIAPPEND UNSELECT LITERAL+ IDLE CHILDREN LISTEXT LIST-SUBSCRIBED To capability : IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE

still getting weird .{inbox} folder creations with latest -test7

pam_mkhomedir and dovecot
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has successfully managed to configure pam_mkhomedir and dovecot, so that users home directories are automatically created? As far as I can tell, the login process runs as a non-root user, which results in a permission denied error while trying to create the users home directory. I'm not sure if this error is specific to dovecot or pam though. Any thoughts

3COM NBX SuperStack 3
Hi, I've looked pretty wide on Google for this so I don't think it's been asked before. Has anyone had experience integrating Asterisk with a 3COM NBX system? The only way that I can see that looks possible is via the 3Com NBX ConneXtions H.323 product and then one of the H.323 Asterisk channels. Has anyone done this? Any pointers as to what to avoid or whether to even attempt it?

0.99 mail env
Greetings, all Last night I migrated our mail between two machines... both running dovecot 0.99.xx. In the process, I wanted to make some small changes, namely that new mail be delivered to mboxs in /var/mail/%u and IMAP mail stored in Maildirs at ~/.imap ... I tried using: default_mail_env = maildir:~/.imap/:INBOX=mbox:/var/mail/%u But had no luck. Is it only 1.0 that can work with two

pop/imap & smtp auth installation with just one userdb
Hi First of all thanks to the authors of dovecot. It's a pleasure to work with it. I would like to ask, if somebody has an idea about how I can combine all mailusers (dovecot pop/imap & sendmail smtp) into one db, given that I'd like to use sasl with CRAM-MD5 as authentication mechanism to ensure security. The idea behind my question is, that it is easier to administer all mail

ldap SMD5 vs. CRYPT
Hello, am I right, that dovecot can't cope with ldap so authentification is handled by ldap itself? And, for that I have to use {CRYPT} and cannot use other mechanisms as {SMD5} Are there any other possibilities? A --

DIDs anywhere but here?
Are there affordable DIDs (preferably IAX) available anywhere outside the US? I want to use it to meet ICANN requirements for providing a valid phone number, yet pre-empting some of the telemarketing calls my domain registrations generate. (Yes, I asked a similar question about 900# availability before). I'd prefer to have a number somewhere outside the NANP, preferably an asian country.

Performance problem with outlook & outlook express
Hi, I've set up a dovecot server under redhat enterprise 4.3 with the basic configuration(mbox). Everything runs fine under webmail(squirrelmail) and thunderbird. When I try it under outlook/outlook express tough, it takes a couple of minutes after the authentication to get all headers where it takes a couple of seconds under thunderbird(both windows and linux version). Outlook or Outlook express.
Anyone succesfully installed Outlook, or Outlook Express? If you have, and can come up with a procedure or guideline or HOW-TO I would much appreciate it. The only reason I use NT at work is to run Outlook to connect to our production Exchange server. I would like to be able to show that I don't need Windows for anything at work. Can anyone help out? Thanks, Doug Needham
