New to R
Hey, I am very new to R and I need to use it (and the ACEPACK
package) to do some statistical analysis.
I have installed acepack but efforts to get started has been
unsuccessful. I can't seem to be able to load my data files because I
am yet to figure the syntax to use. Is there a work directory in R
where I can put my files and call them anytime, like in Matlab? My
files are on my C

Problems with R
Hello,
Please I have problems with R. I downloaded R from UC Berkeley CRAN
mirror, but each time I try to read a data file using the command
'moi.data <- read.csv(choose.files())' or 'my.data <- choose.files()
#' , the program becomes unstable and exits itself.
However, I just noticed from my Windows Task manager that the
R-program process tree is still active and using

TheBat! help...
Hi,
I need some help with my TheBat! installation. It seems that the install works for most users (see: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2704&iTestingId=3730) - except the icons of course.
I've got another problem: the account do not seem to be saved. No, more specifically, TheBat! seems to foget that I created an account. The account settings and the

Very general question about Debian...
Hello ALL!
First, I apologize for sending question that spill-out from the scope of
this list. However, you might be essentially the best informants.
In brief, I am thinking to give second shot to the Debian. Currently I
am using Ubuntu 9.04, but Debian still teases me, so to say. I used to
use Debian testing (Lenny at that time), but when Lenny became stable,
things became very shaky in

on the philosophical aspects of a specification
a specification will _eventually_ be used, by someone,
to tell the user they are doing things "wrong", won't it?
and doesn't that turn markdown's genesis upside-down?
heck, next thing you know we'll be telling them to r.t.f.m.
i would prefer that implementers get more sophisticated
about teasing out the user's intent in "ambiguous" cases.

Migrating to dovecot: non-empty mboxes
Hello,
I migrate from cucipop to dovecot. Thus I move users' mailboxes (mbox format)
to another location.
Some POP3 client (for example Outlook or TheBat!) use flag
'Do not delete messages from server'. After the user's mailbox have been
moved to a new location all old messages is retrieved again and user
get duplicates.
Is there a way to avoid such issue?
Thanks a lot!

WinXP cannot join domain (Samba PDC on FreeBSD)
Dear Sirs,
I created user account "jupiter$" and did "smbpasswd -a -m jupiter".
That always worked for WinNT4, but WinXP refuses to join domain (I
applied registry "requiresignorseal" hack)
What do I need to add/remove from smb.conf ? I'm using FreeBSD.
smb.conf is attached

User Auth problems
Hi !
Problem: Auth doesn't work, can't figure out why :(
More precisely:
setup:
dovecot 0.99.10.9
pop3 only
Userdb + Passwd via passwd-file.
Anything plaintext.
(communication client server, passwords in passwd-file,
well, for first tests non public server...
if I get it working, I'll try better ways - of course)
non standard parts of my config:
protocols = pop3
ssl_disable = yes

Re: (Dar)Wine and The Bat!
I want to confirm this bug but with some addition:
Non only TheBat! won work in that way. Possibly all software protected by Themida http://www.oreans.com/
eg CommfortClient from http://www.commfort.com/ but works on linux boxes (can somebody confirm this with CommFort? 4.4 Mb http://www.commfort.com/download/commfort_client.zip )
I'm still shure that is fixable problem.

Runnin' Samba on a machine with multiple Interfaces
Hi Samba,
I am sorry if this is a Newbie Question, But I am confused on what I
read in the FAQ about this.
What I have at the moment is a machine with Two net cards, one of
which is purly a Snort interface, but due to a quirk in the OS must
have a IP, the other is the network card.
What would I have to put into smb.conf for samba to use only one
network card? Not both as it is

Wine help for newbie
Hi all -
I have a few questions - OK, a million questions, but just
a couple today. I hope this is the right list ...
I migrated (finally!) from Win7 to OpenSuse 12.1 64bit,
KDE4 a couple of weeks ago on a Dell Inspiron laptop dual
core Intel cpu/2Gz, 4meg RAM. So in most things I am
groping around in the dark.
This distro included Wine 1.3.30.
I successfully loaded my pet email client,

few idea about dealing with "Large Roaming Profiles"
Well,
I put it here. All the experience gained in about-half-an-year-management
of Samba-PDC + numerous NT4 workstations is included. Also, I'd be glad to
hear from you what did I miss!
1) when NT4-workstations are organised into "domain", there's some
action assosiated to this: "to log into domain".
samba ain such case acts as PDC (primary domain controller),

NSS and group enumeration in CUPS...
Hai Marco,
What i did, i added 1 real linux user in the group unix group lpadmin.
With this user i configured the webinterface and set kerberos auth.
( i did already setup ssl things like that for the webinterface. )
Get this file.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thctlo/samba4/master/samba-check-SePrivileges.sh
This shows you all groups and privileges that are setup.

SNOM Red LED on DND or unregistered Phone
Hello,
I have BLF working on Snom phones. Ringing state (blinking) or "on the
phone" state (solid) are working well. So the buttons are configured as
"BLF" in the Snom webinterface.
Now I would like to add another state for unavailable or dnd. In fact I
would like to turn the LED red in the case the phone is not registered
or the user pushed the DND button.
So I though

Groups and rpms
yum grouplist is almost ok for learning what groups are
available.Though it does not distinguish between base/manditory and
added in the installed list.
But yum list is not really helpful.
I would like to see something of what rpms are within what
group. then what rpms are not in any group. And which groups and
stand-a-lone rpms are base.
maybe it can be teased out of comp.xml...

I mean, we could make the default big-endian just to test the
