local delivery agent
Hey, i've got a problem with my lda and exim, probably i assume that it's dovecot. I think that, because i get an error in exim: T=dovecot_delivery: Child process of dovecot_delivery transport returned 67 (could mean user nonexistent) from command: /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver in exim i use /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -d <name>@<domain>.<tld> -f

using local-part delimiters in LDA delivery?
hi all, i've exim 4.53RC2 + dovecot-cvs on OSX 10.4.2. i'm working on implementing recipient-delimiters for delivery from exim to a user's imap store using dovecot's cvs-lda. reading on the wiki (Jakob's latest comments?): " ... the part after the delimiter is passed to the lda as an additional parameter. so dovecot-lda should handle that parameter and leave the

Assertion failed in buffer.c
dovecot-0.99.10.5-0.FC2 I have had a report from a user that when accessing their inbox, the connection is suddenly dropped. Dovecot reports the following:- imap(user): file buffer.c: line 357 (buffer_set_start_pos): assertion failed: (abs_pos <= I_MIN(buf->used, buf->limit)) From searching the list, I found an indication that it is a problem with an individual message. index synchronization during local delivery
Hi there, Now our system will take dovecot as the whole imap back end, and keep the LDA of ours, But our system has our own UID generation mechanism (in dovecot it's incremental from 1), which will be done while local delivery, So when local deliveries, it will first generate the UID, move the mail into maildir, then synchronize the mailbox index, which is part of dovecot LDA does. virtual isp address, local delivery
I'm trying to understand how to deliver mail to an address locally which is popped from my isps email account. I access and keep these emails backed up on dovecot and use postfix smtp to deliver mail. The problem is that while fetchmail uses dovecot lda directly, postfix can't include my isps domain in its $mydestination because I won't be able to send mail to other users in that

Dovecot, Outlook Express and new accounts
I have come across a strange situation, involving new accounts. I am running Dovecot 0.99.10-5 on Fedora Core 2. Dovecot is configured to use pam for authentication, and the dovecot pam service is configured to use pam_mkhomedir. When an account is created and the user logs in through SquirrelMail, there is no problem. The standard folders are available - Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items and Trash.

Virtual users, local delivery via LDA and LDAP troubles
We're investigating the possibiliy to migrate our mail system from Sendmail+Cyrus to Sendmail+Dovecot. The system must use authentication against Windows AD (supposedly using LDAP) and must use virtual hosting. So far we managed to work around a bug reported in [1], and IMAP/POP3 authentication on LDAP works OK. LDAP auth is set up using binds (Cyrus and Ejabberd authenticate against the

how to create maildir on local mail delivery
Hi! I am using Dovecot 1.0.10 with LDA/postfix option reading user data from ldap, but the problem would be nonexistent maildir. Connection with ldap should be fine since reading proper maildir folder. Is it possible to auto creating maildir folders even on received mail since the you can auto create when user login with mail_executable scripts as it's seen from configuration I am doing

Thunderbird very slow startup, 1.2.11, mbox, postfix local delivery to /var/mail
I've Google'd to exhaustion and can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I'm not sure if the problem is TBird 3 or my Dovecot setup. The basic problem is that when I launch TBird and it grabs messages upon startup, it takes forever to supposedly pull them down. Once it's got them they sort relatively quickly into the proper IMAP (dovecot) folders. I don't use sieve

delivery agent in 1.0?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi :) Is there any plan to include delivery agent in 1.x? I would be very happy, if there would be lmtp delivery agent included with dovecot 1.x... This would make creating large mailsystem cluster creation very simple + indexes would be always up2date. Brane -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----

SIP/H323 modules for netfilter
Linux does not have it's own sip/h323 modules (ip_conntrack_sip and ip_conntrack_h323), however I have found these modules available in the Linksys WRT54GS open source firmware. Would it be legal to use these modules with another Linux distribution (eg, RedHat, Gentoo, Debian..)? -- Chris Hills IT Services North East Worcestershire College

IPv6
Can anyone inform me if voip can be used on a IPv6 network? Does any hard phones/soft phones/Asterisk support it? Google told me that there was/is a bounty on it, but that expired august last year. Furthermore, there used to be a patch (Bernhard Schmidt), but that one is about a year old. I presume it can't be used on recent versions of "*" Hans -- pgp-id: 926EBB12

Dovecot LDA/LMTP vs postfix virtual delivery agent and the x-original-to header
Sadly, I guess not... I'm not sure what to make of this, seeing as both Wietse and Timo said it was almost a trivial thing to fix. data corruption in delivery agent when forwarding
Hi Timo I've been seeing data corruption in the lda when forwarding mail. I think it's due to confused file pointers. (this is all maildirs on nfs) Anyway the following patch fixes it, and also looks a bit more like the old dovecot-lda module, by getting the Return-Path header before getting the input stream: Index: mail-send.c

is it necessary lmtp and director to avoid index corruption in mail delivery?
Hello all, If I have several postfix/dovecot-lda boxes with shared nfs storage, how director helps in this scenario? is it necesary to use lmtp instead of dovecot-lda? With postfix/dovecot-lda boxes incoming mail happens at the smtp layer but director redirects are working in the lmtp/imap/pop3 layer.
