Strange Cisco/Asterisk anomaly
Hey all, having an extremely odd issue wondering if anyone else
has come across or seen something similar and what your resolution
was. I have Asterisk 1.2.12.1 running (don't ask) on a machine.
All has been working fine for months on end. The system has a
mixture of Polycom, Snom's and Cisco 7960's running.
After a brief power outage last Friday, most phones went down

tytso's readdir speedup patch - adoptable?
Hello,
recently Theodory Tso posted a patch for the ext2fs driver, which
improves speed of find and similar programs. Background: the application
access all entries in the directory in the order they are stored on the
disk. The current ext2 (and apparently Ext3) run a lookup function for
each readdir call, starting with the first node! Theodore stores a
refference to the node which was accessed

Recover original superblock on corrupted filesystem?
I've been trying to use fsck to recover a corrupted filesystem.
It appears the original superblock is corrupted too, as it has an inode
count of 0. When I start fsck with -b 32760, it uses the alternate
superblock and proceeds. However, it restarts from the beginning a
couple of times and after the second restart it doesn't use the
alternate superblock, stopping instead as it can't

accounts that i wish to use untouched if possible. I guess this is a

Delimiter of mailbox changes in response to STATUS command...
Hi -
I've been using Hastymail with my Dovecot server for awhile now.
However, I have noticed that at some point Hastymail stopped showing the
number of unseen messages in its folder drop down list, it just shows 0
for the folders that I have it checking for unseen messages. I'm not
sure when it broke, but I think it's when I went to one of the testing
builds several months

INBOX as mbox, other mailboxes as maildir
All,
I'm trying to teach dovecot to use the mbox format for /var/mail/%u
and maildir for /home/%u/Mail/ but I'm having quite a hard time. This
is Dovecot v1.0.beta3 under OpenBSD 3.9 on sparc64.
I've been fiddling with default_mail_env and also tried separate
namespaces, but all to no avail. Here's some of the things I tried :

POTS interfacing recommendation
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello there,
I'm drawing up a scheme to manage our company calls and would like to
implement it with Asterisk. In order to get moving quickly I'd like some
recommendations on what hardware to buy so I can start tinkering. Initially
we'd like to be able to support one line to accept incoming calls, and
another one for forwarding such

constant mailbox rebuilding with dovecot 1.0.10
I've recently upgraded to 1.0.10 in hopes that this problem would go
away but no luck. I've got some users at my company with large
inboxes on maildir (say 22,000 messages). Their mailboxes are hosted
on nfs and dovecot is configured to do dotlocking. Still I see
messages like this continually in the logs (sometimes every hour or
so):
server dovecot: IMAP(user): dotlock

Best version for packaging
Hello,
I packaged the old ext3 patch for Debian, and now I would like to create
a patch-package of the current version for kernel 2.4.9.
I consider to include Theodore's ext2 and ext3 readdir speedup
patches and modify the 0.9.9 patch as needed to apply it on kernel
2.4.9.
Does anyone (except of me) use all this parts together and report them
to be stable enough?
Gruss/Regards,
Eduard.

FS locks
Hello,
unfortunately I got some trouble using ext3 - the system hangs when
working in a certain directory. Not completely, I can switch between
consoles and reboot with SysRQ, but cannot do anything which requires
disk IO: not start any applications, not umount, nothing. I could send
the strace output, but I don't think this would help anyone. Sorry, but
I don't have a clue where to start

Strange R behavior for product of two sum of integers
Dear gentlemen,
Can you explain me why the following happens (any OS I think, and even
on 64 bits)?
> sum(1000:1205)^2

> sum(1000:1205)*sum(1000:1205)
[1] NA
Warning message:

Interesting observation
I have an interesting observation which I thought I'd pass along to save
other people from spending time trying to 'fix' it.
One of my clients uses Charter's so called "business phone service".
They provide 'analog' phone lines over IP. In general, they've worked
OK. End users were saying that the phone are "cutting out" at times.

tinc 1.0pre4 released
Hello everybody,
I have just released tinc 1.0pre4. Changes:
- New authentication protocol (better security, and faster too).
- TCPonly and IndirectData are back (but not fully tested).
- Documentation revised, it's really up to date with the released package now.
- tincd -K now stores public/private keys in PEM format, but keys of 1.0pre3
can still be used.
- Faster and more secure
