folders via softlink
I have recently switched from the UW imap server to dovecot and things seem to be working nicely. One thing that I can't seem to figure out however, is how to get dovecot to show folders that are a softlink. We run SpamAssassin. Users can use both their own personal spam folder as well as a shared spam folder. For messages that everyone would consider spam, the user can simply drag the

dovecot immediately exits on Fedora 2
I "upgraded" my server running UW-IMAP on Fedora 1, to Fedora 2, which defaults to Dovecot. Unfortunately, the server refuses connecions from my client (Mozilla). It seems that Dovecot immediately exits: ps aux|grep dovecot shows nothing. Also, if I manually start up dovecot, it immediately exits, with no messages. (It does at least parse the config file, since tweaking that gives me

Default domain ?
Hello, I'm in the process of migrating from qpopper to dovecot and I've stumbled upon the least expected thing: In qpopper I can specify a 'default domain', which will be used if an user will only issue his username (not the whole email address) when logging in. Because of this, the users in my main domain don't use the whole email address when getting their mail. I'd

Corrupted index file
Hi, I've been wondering for a while if reiserfs is dovecot+maildir safe or not. I get this too often (and my imap session gets disconnected): Jun 9 08:42:32 sun imap(nk): Corrupted index file /home/nk/Maildir/.INBOX/.imap .index: UIDVALIDITY changed in uidlist This happens always when a new mail arrives in maildir. It's a Fedora Core 2 box running dovecot-0.99.10.4-4 (redhat) package.

Dovecot + SSL + Fedora
I've been seeing the Dovecot/SSL/Fedora 1 problem. I have a dovecot server which tends to die at least once a day, with messages like these :- May 24 13:44:44 mail pop3-login: RAND_bytes() failed: error:24064064:random number generator:SSLEAY_RAND_BYTES:PRNG not seeded May 24 13:44:44 mail dovecot: Login process died too early - shutting down I noticed Timo's email about this at:

Hello, I am using Samba 4.0.5 and got this kind of error messages in samba.log (loglevel 2). While this happens getent passwd shows no domain users, but everyone could reach all of the shares. vestigial DNS entries
I am running samba 4.2.0 as an AD with internal DNS. I had an earlier version of Samba4 that was running old code and the system had gotten cluttered up from my learning process. I chose to replace it by bringing up a new Samba4 DC, letting them sync, then promote the new, and demote the old. That all worked flawlessly. Eventually I destroyed the old Samba4 system. Today I tried to play

Default_mail_env..
Hi, I 'm new to Dovecot and we are trying to do some tests in a production environment. We use mysql to authenticate and dovecot imap only. But our structure directory is something special. All of ours accounts are stored in maildir and the path is the following: For example the account pepe at inter.net /export/maildir/inter.net/p/e/pepe and into pepe we have

Can't see existing mail folders
I have installed dovecot version 0.99.11 on my Slackware 10.1 system recently and it basically works as expected. However I can't get it to 'see' existing mbox hierarchies. I have the following in dovecot.conf:- default_mail_env = mbox:/home/%u/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u (I also originally tried with %h/Mail) IMAP MUAs can see the INBOX OK but I can't get them to see any of

SSH - Winbind and Keybased Auth
Hi Team, We have a weird issue that we are trying to understand. We have winbind set up and working successfully for user authentication with passwords via ssh. We have pam.d/system-auth-ac and password-auth-ac (symlinked) set to require membership of a group which works great via password authentication. However, if the user has a ssh key set up, they seem to bypass the group membership

default_mail_env renaming
I was thinking about renaming default_mail_env to something that is more understandable. I'll keep it working for backwards compatibility anyway. How about: # Location for users' mailboxes. This is the same as the old default_mail_env # setting. The default is empty, which means that Dovecot tries to find the # mailboxes automatically. This won't work if the user doesn't have any

Fedora Core 2, dovecot, and Outlook Express
After the aging harddrive in my Redhat 7.2 server died, I decided it was time to upgrade. I bought a new harddrive and did a fresh install of Fedora Core 2. I've managed to get www, ssh and sendmail reconfigured, but I'm having a heck of a time with imap. I first fooled around with cyrus-imapd, and couldn't make head or tail of it, so I downloaded a fedore core 1 imapd rpm and

mta/mda config
Hi all, I'm at the stage of planning our new mail system and am evaluating dovecot for it. For large mailstore setups, it makes sense to split maildirs across many directories. I see that setting default_mail_env to something like maildir:/var/imap/domain/%1d/%d/%1u/user/%u/ would create almost identical on-disk layout as multidomain cyrus setup. Now, as dovecot does not have its own

dovecot with sendmail
Hello, Here is an issue. I am trying to make dovecot work with sendmail If I use the default conf file (default_mail_env = ) then the inbox is the file /var/mail/user and a mail folder is created in /home/user directory where it stores all additional imap folders. The problem with this is that I can?t have subfolders. If I edit dovecot.conf file and enter default_mail_env =

2nd Question on v1.0 setup and maildir
_____ From: Patrick Carney [mailto:patrick at castandcrew.com] Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2006 8:55 AM To: 'dovecot at dovecot.org' Subject: Question on v1.0 setup and maildir Hello all. I appreciate the responses to my problem on v0.99.14. Thank you all. We have built a new server running version 1.0-0_15.beta9.el4. The mail delivery agent is sendmail. We seem to have
