Re : Permission denied
Hello Timo,
I'm using linux Fedora Core 2.
The permissions are :
drwxrwxrwt 2 root mail 32 2004-06-16 04:45 /var/spool/mail/
These permissions are made buy the command chmod a+rwxt /var/spool/mail.
So if someone wants to erase the /var/spool/mail directory, it's possible
unfortunately.
If there are theses permissions the user can receive his mails but it's

Re: User name / session idin logs
Hi, I wanted just to ask an additional question to that:
how then here in the polkit documentation you distinguish users?:
Consider a local user berrange who has been granted permission to connect

Newbie Q: Setting up under linux: Spool directory.
I am trying to set up dovecot under linux. (RH9 if it matters). I'm
having trouble having it find the mail that is already delivered.
What I would like is that mail is delivered by fetch mail to
/var/spool/mail/mclay (that me) then have dovecot find it. I'm sure
that I have not set the dovecot.conf file correctly. The documentation
is unclear as to what "mbox" is and

dovecot newbie question about "invalid key" problem
Hello list,
I've trying to migrate a small uw-imap server to dovecot.
It works somewhat, and speed seems greatly improved, so thats great.
However, I get an "invalid key/Internal Error" problem when connectiong
to my INBOX
with thunderbird.
According to google this is a well known problem with mozilla mailers.
Dovecot is not lenient
with this bug in thunderbird.
Is there some

permissions problem reading INBOX
Hello,
I'm sorry if I'm asking something that is documented - I could swear I
saw something about this (dovecot changing to the uid of the entry in
the userdb when accessing the mailbox), but now I cannot find it
anywhere in the wiki!
Dovecot seems to be getting the right uid for the mailbox, but then it
is having permissions problems. The error is:

Re: PDC with roaming profiels
Hi All,
Hopefully someone knows the answer to this? I have a RH 7.3 box running
Samba 2.3a as a PDC for over 1 1/2 years now. Things are good for the most
part, except some minor annoyances with the way windows (2k) is handling the
roaming profiles. Maybe I need to alter the permissions for the users
profile, any insight would be wonderful though. The profiles copied to the
local box under

User name / session idin logs
Hello everyone,
I have a question about logging. I need to find out whether it is possible
to see user id/session id inside logs or somewhere else. It is not passed
in structured across the network, so where should I look to find out, which
user (which session) is currently performing the actions?

Tunnelling problem in windows 7
Hi, I have recently installed Windows 7 RC [Version 6.1.7100], and instaled
the OpenSSH [setupssh381-20040709]
I wanted to tunnel through my ssh server, I usually use this command on my
Windows XP machine, and it works.
ssh -L 9983:10.0.0.37:3389 infram at 192.168.1.13 ?N
When issuing that command on Windows 7, after asked for the password, it
gives me this error:
\226N: Command not found.

passing remote ip to pam
to improve forensic log info i want to set the PAM_RHOST value to the
remote ip (which pam logs as rhost=foo in failure messages). i didn't
look to see if anything has been done in this way on CVS because i'm still
on 0.99.10.6.
below is a bit of a hack. in some sense the remote_ip might make more
sense in the AUTH_LOGIN_REQUEST_NEW packet rather than the continue
packet... but that
