issue with multiple Samba DC and uid/gid assignment.
I have 2 Ubuntu 12.04/samba 4 servers acting as DCs for my Domain. I provisioned the Domain by using the classicupgrade (prior authentication was LDAP+Samba). I have added some new test users. I also have two files servers. One is running RHEL 5.9/Samba 3, the other Ubuntu 12.04/Samba 4. Users that have their home directories and profiles stored on the RHEL5.9/Samba 3 fileserver work correctly.

1.0-test25 with new cache file code
http://dovecot.org/test/ Pretty much the only change since test24 is a redesign of how cache file writing works. Reading works as before - without locks. Before (in 1.0-tests, 0.99 was worse) we used to just try to lock it. If it failed, we just didn't update cache. If it didn't fail, the lock could have been kept a long time. For example if a user was downloading a 10MB mail, the

CentOS 7.1 NFS Client Issues - rpc.statd / rpcbind
I have seen some talk about this but have not seen any answers. I know this is a problem on CentOS 7.1 and I also think it is a problem on CentOS 7.0. Basically if I have an NFS client only config - meaning that the nfs-server.service is not enabled then I have to wait 60 seconds after boot for the 1st NFSV3 mount to succeed. What I can surmise is the following. I attempt to perform a NFS

smbd process eating memory
Hi list, I have a Samba-3.0.25a PDC running on FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE using OpenLDAP 2.3.34 (nss_ldap-1.255) as backend. Everything work's great, the only problem that I fighting is with an M$ ISA Server 2000, that do ntlm authentications on my domain. At some times (each 4 hours) the ISA Server lost the connection with the domain and does not authenticate users until the connection be

CentOS 7.1 NFS Client Issues - rpc.statd / rpcbind
That is the thing - rpc.statd does have rpcbind a pre-req. It looks like systemd is not handling this correctly. Just wondering if anyone knows a good way to fix. root at ls2 /usr/lib/systemd/system 110# grep Requires rpc-statd.service Requires=nss-lookup.target rpcbind.target On 8/30/15 7:45 PM, Rob Kampen wrote: > On 08/31/2015 01:39 PM, Mark Selby wrote: >> I have seen some talk

dbus issue on centos 7 as a lxc container
Hi, dbus on centos 7 lxc won't work. So I'm unable to start or query status units with systemd, for example: systemctl status Failed to get D-Bus connection: No such file or directory I have no issues with centos 8 container (debian 10 ones work fine too) This is the output of ps aux on centos 7: USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND root

Ices issues
Hi: I ran a live test broadcast today and noticed a couple of things that concerned me. Now, I'll admit I was pushing my P2/266 pretty hard, but it kept things going so I'm guessing that it's not unreasonable for me to expect this to work. I was sending two streams encoded from the sound card, one at 22khz mono quality -1 and the other at 44.1 stereo quality 0. I was also saving

Memory reporting...
Hi, I have a little question about memory usage... When I do a free, I get: total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 18482800 18030668 452132 0 683068 9426792 -/+ buffers/cache: 7920808 10561992 But, when I do a ps, mysql is the only process that takes noticable memory; and it is far from 7.9GBs... graphing help: line runs off top of graph
Hi, See the files at http://bulldog.duhs.duke.edu/~faheem/R/ Usage is $ Rscript memgraph.R meminfo.csv Output is meminfo.pdf. As you can see, one of the lines (blue) runs off the top of the graph. Can anyone suggest a way to avoid this happening? Please CC me on any reply. Thanks in advance. Regards, Faheem.

Ways to make "smbd" use less memory?
I?m looking for ways to make a ?smbd? daemon use less memory. Typically on our system each process uses 160-200MB virtual memory with ~120-140MB as RSS. Now with ~1400 such processes (and clients connected) this uses a lot of memory? Even though some may be shared. It doesn?t look like a memory leak though since it?s pretty stable at those levels. But it still feels pretty bloated... This

vsz_limit
Seems I had forgotten that you can use src/lib/restrict.h, in particular, restrict_get_process_size() to figure out the limit. You can combine this with getrusage to find out current usage.
