the mbox format is used.
A description for pine with imap acces without entering any password is
also discussed. Please use dovecot 1.0beta1 or later for correct handling
with pine.

Different SSL requirements for connections on different ports?
Hi All,
I'm running dovecot 2.0.19.
I currently have remote users access mail using IMAP over SSL, with
their client certificates being both required and verified. I do this
using "ssl = required" and "ssl_verify_client_cert = yes".
I would now like to add a webmail front-end (squirrelmail) running on
the same server. In order to achieve this I would like to have

I have tried all the suggestions up till now but the error message is still
there.
I have tried this configuaration for roundcube:

'peer_name' => '<FQDN_OF_DOVECOT_CERTIFICATE>',
'verify_peer' => true,
'verify_depth' => 3,

SquirrelMail Oddity SSL error
I have two users only under one virtual domain which after sending an

I think that you are right when you say that the problem may be the
certificate recognition.
As for Roundcube, I've inserted the uncommented php code that you provided
in /usr/share/roundcube/main.inc.php.dist, which is the Raspbian file for
/config/defaults.inc.php. Unfortunately Roundcube doesn't login and replies
with the message "connection to storage server failed". And

SSL: Server CommonName mismatch: localhost.localdomain
Greetings,
I have seen via google that this very problem was already discussed on
several lists some months ago, but the archives report no solution.
I have a remote server with dovecot 1.0-0_12.beta8 on Centos 4.3. IMAP
works just fine: I can read email from both Squirrelmail via web and
Kmail.
Now I have created an ssl certificate on the server, and I'm trying to

Dovecot SSL limitations
Hello Timo,
I'd like to check if my understanding of dovecot-1.2.x's SSL certificate
handling is correct :
SSL does not provide the server any mechanism to choose which certificate
it must send relatively to the name the client is using. Thus, if you want to
use different certificates, you have to listen to different addresses. This is
an SSL limitation, not a dovecot nor

tlsv1 alert unknown ca: SSL alert number 48
Hi,
I have set up a mail server with postfix+dovecot 2.2.13 on my raspberry pi
running Raspbian Jassie OS.
Now I would like to add an on-line e-mail client like Squirrelmail or
Roundcube. I was able to start up these two clients but when I try to login
I get this error message in the dovecot log:
tlsv1 alert unknown ca: SSL alert number 48
But I have inserted the self-signed certificate and

Question about Client Certificates
Hi,
I have a simple dovecot installation, version 1.2.12 of ubuntu 10.10.
I also have a straightforward newbie question! I've hunted in the wiki
and on the wider web, but not yet found a solution.
Current status: I have successfully configured imap with tls, accessed
on port 993, and for security require a valid client certificate to be
presented, using ssl_require_client_cert and

SSL problems on dovecot 2.1.7
When I upgraded my debian-based imap server from squeeze to wheezy
yesterday, SSL stopped working.
I am using a http://cacert.org signed server sertificate, and I am
reusing the certificates that were used on the 1.x dovecot of debian
squeeze.
My three MUAs that worked against the previous 1.x dovecot with the same
certificate, now fails in various ways.
Any hints and guesses as to how to debug

Failed installation on Ubuntu with Postfix/Dovecot/Squirrelmail
Hello all,
I did an install following a HOWTO document that has a fair number of positive reviews, but something went wrong along the way:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-configure-a-mail-server-using-postfix-dovecot-mysql-and-spamassasin
I made a couple deviations. I opted to not use StartSSL keys, and decided to stay with the default keys. Also, I chose to use

SSL connections frozen on Dovecot 1.0.0
Hello,
We are running Dovecot 1.0.0 (Debian Etch, Backports.org, OpenSSL) in a
production environment and we experience sporadic SSL connection problems.
At the moment, it's difficult to tell if the server goes back to normal
operation after some time or if it can be reproduces at any time because we
have to restart it as soon as we get Nagios alerts.
Some tests with openssl s_client have

How to configure ssl cert chain in dovecot 10-ssl.conf file
Hi there,
Does anyone know how to do this:
"Put all the certificates in the ssl_cert file. For example when using a certificate signed by TDC the correct order is:
Dovecot's public certificate
TDC SSL Server CA
TDC Internet Root CA
Globalsign Partners CA "
I try to set these parameters in the conf.d/10-ssl.conf as below, but it seems doesn't work.

Dovecot and SSL certificates
Hello,
we're running RC2 and seeing a problem with the way SSL certs
are handled by Dovecot.
We've set ssl_verify_client_cert=yes and ssl_require_valid_client_cert=no.
Using this setup we get (rather interesting) log entries like these:
Jul 31 11:21:23 dev dovecot: imap-login: Invalid certificate: <user cert>
Jul 31 11:21:23 dev dovecot: imap-login: Invalid certificate: <CA
