'Traditional' Faxing
Hi all,
the company I work for has an aging Digital PBX attached to an E1.
This PBX has a few analogue lines, one of which we use a 'traditional' fax
machine on.
I want to upgrade our PBX and Asterisk is almost a perfect fit.
The only problem I can't seem to find a working solution for is Faxing.
I don't want to use Hylafax or other similar methodologies.
I believe there

Issues with stat() call on CentOS5 vs CentOS4
Dear CentOS,
I have recently upgraded several servers from CentOS4 to CentOS5 and I am
noticing a strange change to the stat() call. I have written a very
small program to test and show the behavior. I am calling stat()
against a file which is exported from my NAS and mounted with 32k
read/write sizes.
[dougalb at centos4 tmp]$ cat my_stat.c
#include <unistd.h>
#include <stdio.h>

Hidden networking device configuration
I am trying to configure load balancing for a couple of CentOS4 servers.
In order to make it work, I need to add a hidden networking device on
each server with the virtual IP. I found the following instructions on
linuxvirtualserver.org for doing this, but they don't work.
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
ifconfig dummy0 0.0.0.0 up
echo 1 >

There isn't package for httpd-2.0.52-41.ent.6.centos4 [centos announce list from 12.11.2009]
Hi.
There isn't a package httpd-2.0.52-41.ent.6.centos4 for centos4 in
UPDATES repo. There is only a httpd-2.0.52-41.ent.6.centos4.src.rpm in
SRC [http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/updates/SRPMS/?C=M;O=D]
This is probably a bug. Package httpd doesn't build ?

CentOS4 and Apache-DBI
Has anybody gotten Apache-DBI to work under CentOS4?
My installed rpms are:

perl-Apache-DBI-0.94-1.2.el4.rf (from Dag's site)
--this includes Apache::DBI and Apache::AuthDBI
In my '/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf' file, I added:

firefox i386 1.5.0.5-0.el4.1.centos4
Hi all
I am using CentOS 4.3 and my default language is Japanese. I am using
firefox with Japanese language. I installed firefox i386
1.5.0.5-0.el4.1.centos4 update 15 M on my computer via yum yesterday.
CentOS 4.3 has been acting strange! Japanese language on firefix has
gone and English seems to be default language on firefox. I simply
removed firefox 1.5.0.5-0.el4.1.centos4 and

Yum updates packages for other arch too
Hi,
I have the x86_64 arch on my server so therfore i expect that yum
updates only x86_64 packages.
With the last *yum update* i?ve noticed a strange behaviour while
retrieving the needed packeges. As you you see, yum wants install
packages for different architectures:
glibc x86_64 2.3.4-2.25 base 4.9 M
glibc i686 2.3.4-2.25 base 5.1 M

Attempting custom CentOS4 network install
Hi
I am installing CentOS4 over ether network using http and kickstart. I boot from
the first CentOS CD and at "boot:" prompt I input
"ks=http://localserver/install/custom.cfg". Except for minor glitches like
"Kernel-Development group not found" warning, the process is smooth and is
almost completely automated.
Now, I want to add additional RPMS to the CentOS/RPMS

Apache in chroot reporting every client is 16.0.0.0
Not sure where to start on this. I went to examine a log file today and noticed
a password protected internal file was being accessed from 16.0.0.0. Upon
further review every log entry has the same IP. Accessing apache from localhost
also reports 16.0.0.0.
Google is not being my friend right now, any advice?

Samba rpm and /var/*/samba directory for .tdb files
Hi,
I use CentOS4 (RHEL4) and it seems that I was using /var/lib/samba
for storing the .tdb files. Then I compilled the fedora .src.rpm from
samba.org
and it points now to /var/cache/samba
I will build tonight the .rpm from the .tar.gz and see which directory samba
choose for the .tdb files in CentOS4.
Anyone can confirm this list of distro/.tdb directory:
Fedora: /var/cache/samba

USB key problems on enterprise systems
Just came up with some interesting (read: frustrating) problems on
RHEL3 and RHEL4 today at work, and I've confirmed one of the problems
on my up-to-date CentOS4 system at home. I was forced into releasing
some RHEL3 systems to replace our aging RH9 systems without time for
adequate testing, and that leads to problems like these.
On our legacy RH9 systems, mounting a USB key is no problem,

mozilla bug?
I had an embarrassing experience today, attempting to demonstrate that
with gmail one can use the web interface when he must or use the
pop/smtp interface or use both at the same time. The web interface
would not work with mozilla-1.7.12-1.4.1.centos4. A quick check showed
that firefox-1.0.7-1.4.1.centos4 has the same symptom -- that is,
displays a page containing nothing but

Any idea when we will have updated kmod-drbd82 rpm for the latest kernel?
Hi,
After searching the archive I found one post (last october) complaining
about lack of kmod-drbd2 rpm for the lastest kernels. Almost two months
have passed and no sign of the rpm I was wondering if the mantainer has some
news about it.
Thanks.

Updates not catching up ?
Hi,
I have downloaded and installed centos 4.1 from DVD and I a little
confused with the update procedure.
The faq from the centos.org site mentions something like 72 hrs (or
less) from one security update to goes from the sources.rpm from rh to
centos.
I was cheking rh's site
(https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rhel4as-errata.html) and saw one update

Python 2.4 on CentOS4?
Hi,
Has anyone managed to find a Python 2.4 rpm binary that can be installed on
CentOS4? I'm running CentOS4.6 and an application that I want to use
required python 2.4 or greater. All the CentOS/RHEL4 python rpms that I
find are all for python 2.3. I can't seem to find anything that works with
CentOS4 libs.
Thanks!
