Hungarian codepage problem using smbmount
Dear Samba Developers, Dear Urban,
This was my original letter. I hope you get it correctly this time.
Maybe it was too big, now I reduced the size of this letter.
My goal is to make a Linux fileserver up and running with automatic
archiving functionality in a mixed Windows 2000 - Linux network and
since the beginning of February I could not solve my problem, so I
write to you hoping that you

Hello--
A quick question, to see if anyone could help me out. I have a home
network with two nodes, my laptop and my girlfriend's. I have Debian

the Latin American Spanish version of Windows ME.
I am trying to use smbmount to allow me to mount her machine's
Windows file shares. I have set up the shares on her

URGENT! Issues after upgrade from Ubuntu Dapper to Lucid
?hello!
I need urgent help. I upgraded from dapper to lucid (samba version 3.0 -> 3.4). Now I cannot log in to domain anymore (domain controller not available message), also new clients cannot join domain (semaphore timeout message after typing root username and password). If I take LAN cable out, so i can login, then shares work normally. What could have changed so i have issues? My smb.conf

redirect rsync's log to a log file together with other program
Hi,
I'm writing a program to use rsync to do something, and I want to keep the
output of both in the same log file. My program is writing log to
/var/log/my.log via syslog() LOG_LOCAL0. I tried to use rsync's
'--log-file=/var/log/my.log' option; it seems to work to some extent, but
have some problems:
1. If I issue the rsync command directly on command line, rsync's log will

Hi!
I have a test file with all special characters of hungarian language on a
windows share: ??????????????????.txt
(I hope Your mailer wiill show them correctly :-))
When I use smbclient to connect to share, I see correct characters, I can
get the file to local disk and ls shows the correct name too.
When I try to mount with smbmount the closest result I produced was:

Tuýrkish Character Set
Hello,
I am new to this list. I have (and all Trukish users of Samba) trouble with
Turkish charactes (iso8859-9)with Samba. I saw some character definition tables
in charcnv.o (in sources). I couldn't understand the logic. A part of the table
for iso8859-2 is
/* MSDOS Code Page 852 -> ISO-8859-2 */
update_map("\241\244\242\364\243\235\244\317\245\225\246\227\247\365");

default profile
Hi,
I installed a SaMBa PDC and a BDC. When I log in to an XP client with a new
user, sometimes I get the initial profile settings from the netlogon share,
but often from local. When I get the local default settings, it is not
syncronized to the server at logout. Even if I get the new profile from the
server, on the same client, next time, with a new user, I get the new
profile from local. I

Binary locations
Where do you think the following binaries should be installed to? The
possible locations are:
- bin/
- sbin/
- libexec/dovecot/ (or lib/dovecot/ in most Linux distros)
So the binaries are:
1) These probably belong to bin/ or sbin/ or both:
- authtest
- dovecotpw
- doveadm
2) Binaries that you might want to call from mail_executable setting:
- rawlog
- gdbhelper
3) Index file dumping

Conversion error: Incomplete multibyte sequence
Hello,
I tried the migration from samba 3 to a sernet-samba-ad-4.1.9-8.
My samba 3 has tdbsam backend, and "Full Name" (pdbedit -Lv) contains umlauts.
If I run /usr/bin/samba-tool domain classicupgrade, I will see error:
"Conversion error: Incomplete multibyte sequence"
I had in my old smb.conf:
display charset = iso8859-2
dos charset = cp852
unix charset = iso8859-2

Character set and client code page in samba 2.0.6.
Hello!
I have some troubles with samba 2.0.6 concerning character
set and client code page mapings. I have SCO OpenServer 5.0.5
and I've compiled samba using gcc 2.7.2.3. All Windows
clients use code page 852 and server uses character set
ISO8859-2. For this reason these parametres are set in
smb.conf. This makes possible to copy files with

smbd crash on character conversion
Hi all,
I'm trying to share a directory that contains files with non-ASCII
characters (actually, hungarian chars, iso8859-2 or utf8 encoding, I'm not
sure - the encoding of ext2) in their name. When I mount the share and try
to list the contents of the directory, smbd crashes.
samba version: 3.0.0rc1
The shared dir is on an ext2 partition. My system is a debian woody. iconv

id mapping on a dc+file server
Hi,
I have a question again about my test environment. I have dc1, dc2,
fileserver1, and dc3. dc3 is on an another site, and is functioning as
fileserver too. As I read in the documentation, I cannot (shouldn't) use
idmap config parameters in the smb.conf on my dc3. Unfortunately, first I
copied that parameters too from fileserver1 (I use rid backend on
fileserver1). So, I removed the idmap

symlink in a share
Hi,
I wanted to use a symlink in a share, but it didn't work. I tried it
on Samba 4.10. I thought that
follow symlinks = yes
is enough (and it is default). I googled about it, and found a solution:
unix extensions = no
in the global section, and
wide links = Yes
follow symlinks = yes
in the shares' section. According to the man,
unix extensions = yes
is the default, but the

Dear Person That Posted This Email,
Please be aware that calls for papers are only on-topic for this email
list if they are specifically about LLVM. For example, a call for a
workshop on LLVM in Scientific Computing would be on topic whereas a
general compiler call for papers (like the one below) is not.
That said, I hope you receive many strong submissions. Your conference

GETMETADATA UTF8 encoding of folder names instead of UTF7
Hello,
I have dovecot 2.2.13 instance and I found that (at least for polish
language) folder names in GETMETADATA command response are encoded in UTF8.
Shouldn't it be converted to UTF7?
Both SETMETADATA and GETMETADATA arguments have to be encoded in UTF7, the
problem(?) is related only to server response
example:
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE IDLE
