100% CPU utilisation
Dovecot (0.9.11) consumes 100% CPU utilisation when accessing
(either pop or imap) one of my mailboxes. It doesn''t happen
with other mailboxes.
The mailbox has about 500 mails while others have many more.
They are all in mbox format.
OS: OpenBSD-3.5 with all patches
MTA: Sendmail-8.12.11
It happened with other RCs of dovecot-0.9.11
Configured as: ./configure --without-pam

Suspicious sizes by different C compilers
Hi all,
On my Alpha box running Tru64 5.1, rsync-2.5.4 compiled by GNU gcc
3.0.1 anh GNU make 3.79.1 has this size: 4562848.
The same version of rsync compiled by Compaq C compiler V6.3-028 and
Compaq make has this size: 655424.
It is about _7 times_ smaller!
I did a quick test and they seem both working OK.
Is that normal to see a huge difference in binary size produced by gcc

username and password not from /etc/passwd
Can dovecot use usernames and passwords not from /etc/passwd and be able to
read mails of an user whose username and password are in /etc/passwd ?
For example:
- Joe Bloke has a local Unix account joe on Unix server mail.example.com
- Sendmail on mail.example.com accepts mails for joe at example.com and put
them in /var/mail/joe
- can dovecot use other username/password file or database or

Newbie about Mbox or Maildir
Hi,
Thanks in advance. I am not sure if my system is setup to use 'mbox' or
'maildir'. How do I find this out?
I am running an OpenBSD (v3.5) box with an Intel P3 motherboard. I have
installed the OpenBSD port of Dovecot (0.99.10) and have manually started
dovecot and configured the ssl certificates as per the documentation. As
far as I can tell there is no problems but I am

IMAP login name conversion
Hi all,
Out IMAP client (Outlook and others) use login name like joedirt at domainname.com
I need dovecot to convert it to joedirt-domainname_com since that is the local login name.
Can someone give me a hint how to do that?
Is there any simple way to do it or do I have to modify any source code?
Thanks,
Zoong

configuring sendmail to work with dovecot+LDAP
I would like to setup dovecot (1.1.20) with LDAP virtual users,
but I don't seem to understand how to get my sendmail to accept
mail for the virtual users.
(I am rather new to this, so I may have some misunderstandings)
I have followed - wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/DovecotOpenLdap
(OpenLDAP 2.3.43)
and I think I have IMAP working for virtual users.
I can connect to port 143, enter a username and

Procmail wiki text -- don't muck with SENDMAIL
I tried to edit http://wiki2.dovecot.org/procmail but got stuck on the
TextCha. Approaching this list instead seems to be a time-tested secondary
approach, and I wasn't completely comfortable making these changes without
discussion anyway. So here goes.
The SENDMAIL= assignment is not only irrelevant, but actually wrong. The
note down in the update section about Ubuntu explains the problem

[LLVMdev] Info on LLVM 2.3 which is available as a virutal appliance
Hi!
I'm glad that their is interest in the VMware install of LLVM 2.3.
The appliance(compressed via 7zip) is over 800 MB in size. So, I can't send
it out via email.
I don't have the resources to host it. If someone can find an area that
this appliance can live, I'd be willing to upload it os that everyone could
use it.

Bernardo

Packet modification on Xen virutal Bridge
Hi guys,
Now, I''m looking for a method to modify packet headers/contents when they
arrive at xen bridges (e.g. xenbr0). For example, I consider a following
operation; when a xen bridge recieves a packet(frame), it firstly encrypts
the content using a predefined key, and then forwards it to other
host/router.
Is is possible to add such functionality to the xen bridge ?
Any ideas,
