imap indexing error when moving multiple mails
Hi, I've got an 'interesting' problem with a dovecot 0.99.10.4 setup on NetBSD/i386 1.6ZK. dovecot is serving imap only at the moment, using mbox format mailboxes. '/etc/dovecot.conf' is pretty vanilla - among the modified settings, mail_read_mmaped = yes maildir_check_content_changes = yes mbox_lock = fcntl could be relevant. Anyway - from time to time when I move a

beta8 + mbox + Thunderbird
Hi all, I'm still using beta8 (on FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE). Recently I put a co-worker who's using Thunderbird (1.5.0.4) on it and he seemed to have lost some messages (which were delivered on the spool since seen on procmail logfile). I switched him on another server to play safe and tried to test it myself but failed to reproduce the issue. I myself use mutt on a daily basis with no

procmail/formail --> Maildir
Hello List, i switched mailformat from mbox to maildir. Now i have a little problem with procmail/formail and headermanipulation of mails. Here an example: 0 * ^From.*gmx.de | (formail -t -I"procmail: gmx.de") >> /var/spool/mail/xxxxxx So, i can add some different headerlines for later evaluation and the result is attached to inbox. Now i have the problem that i don't know

OT: procmail recipe question
I'm trying to use procmail and I'm having trouble getting it to set some headers. I have one mailing list that sets ?Newsgroups: in the header and I want to remove it. I have the following test recipe: :0 * ^Subject:.*\<testing * ^(Mime-Version:|Content-) | formail -IMime-Version: -IContent- If I understand it correctly, it should remove the Mime-Verion and Content headers. Procmail/Formail problem on 6.3
Hi! In the process of making mysystem work again, having just done a reinstall of 6.3 x86_64. I have a considerable collection of procmail recipes for filtering mail in various ways, and since the upgrade none of 'em is working. procmail passes every mail thru spambayes, which gives back a rating on spamminess. this happens, so it's not as if procmail is simply punting. that is

There are a few perl scripts which could do this ... But I like the idea of mbox to maildir in dovecot ... But I wonder if that is the right place to put it ... Mailed Lee P.S. If

For testing I tried. echo 1 | mail -s "Tornado" weather Enabling verbose and log file gives me: From root at

Performance with 200k messages in Maildir
What should I expect performance-wise if I put 200000 messages in a Maildir store and use two or three MUAs (mutt and Thunderbird), on an Athlon dual core 2GHz with SATA drives in software RAID (Linux)? Like; would it be useless/crawling, usable or pretty fast. I imagine MUA startup / first time folder read would be slow, but daily use more or less ok. Thanks to Dovecot's indexing, I imagine

Can't see existing mail folders
I have installed dovecot version 0.99.11 on my Slackware 10.1 system recently and it basically works as expected. However I can't get it to 'see' existing mbox hierarchies. I have the following in dovecot.conf:- default_mail_env = mbox:/home/%u/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u (I also originally tried with %h/Mail) IMAP MUAs can see the INBOX OK but I can't get them to see any of

processing Dovecot maildirs with shell scripts
Hello, I have a postfix server which uses procmail as its delivery agent to deliver incoming messages to several maildirs. For several reasons, not really relevant here, I need to process/refilter/sort again the content of these mailboxes before delivering the messages to the _other_ maildirs which Dovecot sees and serves to local or remote imap users. Basically, I need to write some shell

Some of my IMAP Folders vanished in some MUAs
Hi, I'm using dovecot for some time now. Previously I was using Courier and I've migrated this setup to dovecot which went pretty fine. Now I'm experiencing some strange behaviour when using some newer mail clients. Some of my Folders, like "spam", are vanished. The strange point is that it only happens in some clients, like Thunderbird 2.x+ or KMail 3.5.x. In others,

sieve vacation - 2 questions
Hello, still trying to move from procmail to sieve, but there are new problems. Currently we use procmail for autoresponder and let user choose timerange, in which responder should work. May be you set up today your responder for 2 weeks in future where responder start and stop automatically without further manuell intervention. In procmail this is done by simple scripting and comparison of

OT: Run Sieve On A Mailbox Manually
(Apologies for being offtopic.) The subject basically says it all...does anyone know of a tool to run a sieve script on a mailbox (in particular, Maildirs) manually? Ideally, I'd like to do it without adding a bunch of new headers to the mail. So, could I just do a find (or for-loop, if it was just one maildir) command and pipe all the mails into deliver..? Thanks, Neil.

Symlink shared mailboxes and system_user extra field
Hello, I'm trying to set up, as explained in the wiki, shared mailboxes with symlink. I'm running dovecot-1.1.8 with LDAP pass/userdb. The Maildir layout goes like this : /courriel/boites/foobar : Maildir of user foobar (nfs) /courriel/meta/foobar : control files of user foobar (nfs) /var/dovecot/indexes : indexes (locally stored) I created : /courriel/boites/doveshared/.box/ :

debian unstable : mutt polling imap mailboxes
Package: dovecot Version: 0.99.10.4-2 I am accessing my IMAP folder on my ~/Maildir using mutt via Dovecot and I have this problem whereby mutt incorrectly reports I have new mail in a "mailboxes" polled mailbox. This happens all the time when I press the key bound to change mailbox. I use courier IMAP at school, and I have not experienced this problem. A bug with dovecot or mutt?

Extended acls with AD - problem with default/herited permissions
Hello, I set a share on a samba 4.7.1 as domain member with an Active Directory controler, this share is used by all domain users. All users from the AD domain have a primary group "Domain Users", and secondary groups to filter access on the folders of the share. I noticed that when a user create a sub-folder/file inside a "Top folder", the default permissions from the
