Speex on Nokia Symbian S60 phones
It would be very nice to know about some good success without too much
cpu issues on Nokia devices, i tried pjsip.org project on S60 FP1 E65
+200mhz ARM cpu with speex but don't had much luck in using it without
having 100% cpu usage :(
Please let us to know about your testing

Did a quick search and saw ARM CPUs with speeds above 100 MHz. That should
actually be enough for Speex, at least for narrowband.

Mails causing imap process to hang.
Hi Timo,
We are getting e-mails from a certain domain that seem to cause the IMAP
process to hang.
Here's how it looks like if we issued a FETCH 40 FULL:

build of 2.5.6 on AIX 4.3.3
Hi,
i was using rsync 2.4.5 for AIX 4.3 binary downloaded from
http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/binaries/AIX/ .
I now compiled the latest 2.5.6 on AIX 4.3.3 and created a tarball to use like
the one available from http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/binaries/AIX/ .

Speex on Nokia Symbian S60 phones
Thank you, guys.
Most smartphones in production today run at ~300MHz and above. So this
shouldn't be a problem. I'll try to compile speex for Symbian (I see it's
been ported, but the Symbian port is somewhat out of date?) and I'll run it
on a pair of Nokia N76 phones. I'll let you know how it works out.
If someone has any further advice in this direction, I would deeply

Speex realtime encoding/decoding "Real world" usage for Windows Mobile / Symbian device
hi all,
I can claim that our hotfoon service has run millions of mobile voip
minutes using speex on mobile and desktops. it works!
earlier you needed more powerful cpus (until the integer port),
however now the cpus are much faster and the code complexity is much
lower.
my only regret is of not being able to write some demo apps for speex
on win mob. I will surely deliver it in june to settle this

Speex realtime encoding/decoding "Real world" usage for Windows Mobile / Symbian device
Dear all,
i am currently evaluating which codec to be used for a "very narrowband"
voice communication system (using either VoIP either GSM CSD) on mobile
devices running Windows Mobile and Symbian OS.
I had experience in using AMR-NB 4.75 with VAD on Symbian OS and all
worked very well.
However, AMR it's not royalty free and if i need to use it on Windows
Mobile i will need

Speex on Nokia Symbian S60 phones
Is speex at this stage a good codec to use for real-time voice transmission
over a direct CSD connection between two phones? Does anyone have any
experience with using Speex on Nokia phones?
If speex is not a good solution for this task, what would you recommend?

size of speex packets when VAD/CNG is enabled
Hi all,
supposing to have speex working at 3.95, when VAD/CNG is employed, which
is the size of those "silence" samples respect to voice samples?
I am wondering if it could be possible to lower even the transmission of
VAD/CNG samples by specifying "outbound" in the communication channel
only 1 bit instead of sending the whole VAD/CNG packet.
I am doing the same for AMR

kernel security issues
Hi,
after watching the security alerts for the centos kernel I've the
impression that altought they are fixed fastly there are more alerts
than for the vanilla one of the same version.
Question: Are those alerts mostly specifically centos related or do they
also affect the vanilla sources?

VoIP application together with open hardware design
Hi guys,
I am starting project to develop open implementation of some (naturally open
codec) for simply designed embedded devices which can be used by small to big
VoIP operators or hobbyists which wants to build their own small and low cost
VoIP phone.
Speex seems to be great choice. And greater will be if there should be some
guys who want to help ;-).
Altought I am experienced in C/ASM

Troubles with Network Neighbourhood
Hi ,
I've some torubles with smb server provided with Debian 3.0 Woody - I
can't see any machine in network neighbourhood, altought all machines
are loging and mapping resources shared by server correctly. What
exactly is needed to be installed with smb - any DNS or something like
this? Maybe the question is not too clever, but when I've had my server
on RH7.2 there was no such

wrong values in duration and billsec in CDR
Hi to all,
I was looking in google and also in this mailing list, but I dont find the
solution to my problem, so I subscribe me to the list in order to post this
e-mail and find the solution.
This is the scenario:

VoIP Provider ------- Sip Phone or H323 Phone
The problem is that I am generating calls from SIP and also

what the H is this virbr0?
Hi,
I just tested in the lab the new CentOS 5.1 Xen and find out it breaks
network connectivity, at least in my setup.
It seems it is somehow making use of the 3.1 Xen version (altought I am
not sure about that) but whatever changes it introduce is not documented
at the location one would expect, the obvious new thing (at least for
me) is this thing I will call out of guessing a virtual
