Pop-before-smtp and MySQL?
Hi, I found that dovecot have many nice features. Now I write because I'm tring to setup the dovecot server, I would substitute a qpopper daemon (patched for mysql authentication) The problem I find is to set up the pop-before-smtp using sql (mysq) as written in http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/PopBSMTPAndDovecot (Waiting for post_login ;-) I would use the script popbsmtp.sh and not a perl

"pop before smtp" dovecot.conf
Bonjour a Tous, I would like to generate (on the fly) a list "popbeforesmtp" when dovecot POP/IMAP authentication succeed. Intended Format will/should be such as: 'timestamp_in_second' user_id remote_ip one user per line. My guess we have all the needed information within dovecot to make such list. But I have seen no way to 'trick' dovecot (dovecot-1.0.alpha3)

dovecot/pop-before-smtp
Hi, This is off-topic I know, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. I'm running postfix 2.2.x, dovecot 0.99, and it's working great, I wanted pop-before-smtp functionality, so I fired up the suggested perl daemon in the dovecot docs.. This seems to work, I ran tests, it was picking up the ip's, putting them in the .db file, and postfix was able to read them.

A questiong about replacing my failing drive
First, I am not a RedHat or linux newbie. I simply have not had to do what I am getting ready to do, and I want to see if I am going to run into a problems... My HDA drive is failing (I can hear the occasional click from it and I am seeing Smart errors, the transfer rate is slow but all my data is there). I have 3 partitions on it, the /, /boot/ and my game servers (this is also the drive the

UID Error on Test 24 and 25
I started testing Dovecot 1.0 Test 22! I loved the performance improvements, althought dovecot has been very fast for us from the beginning. However, now I am testing test 24 and 25, and I am seeing these errors in the dovecot log and squirrelmail is giving me a ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server. Query: STATUS "Mailing Lists.SpamAssassin" (MESSAGES UNSEEN RECENT) This is the

Still having problems deleting messages through IMAP
Hello, I am using SquirrelMail with the 1.0 releases, and I have even backed up to the latest stable release based on 1.0. I am using MailDirs. When I delete a message, the message still shows up in the message list until either I log out and back in or a new message arrives in that folder. Any ideas? Thanks Doug Eubanks doug at simflex.com The speed of time is one-second per second.

Is qpopper vulnerable?? Re: CERT Advisory CA-97.09 - Vulnerability in IMAP and POP
I''ve got qualcomm''s qpopper2.2, and am not sure if its vulnerable. The advisory mentions pop and imap servers, but only says: version of IMAP (Section B). If your POP server is based on the University of Washington IMAP server code, you should also upgrade to the latest version of IMAP. Until you can take one of these actions, I installed the new imapd about 3

POP does not seem to be working
OK, I am brand new to this so please bear with me. I have an FreeBSD 6.1 STABLE system. Postfix is installed with qpopper. The mailboxes are standard mbox format. I just installed Dovecot. At some point I want to update to a mdir format, etc., but quite frankly I do not know how to go about that. In any case, I shut down qpopper and started Dovecot. I modified the Dovecot.conf file SSL settings

Return (revenge?) of the "pop-lock".
Hello, The users here have been migrated to the new mail system with dovecot 0.99.10.5 (Debian package) on the backends. Storage is maildir, only pop3 access for now. I see very seldom occurrences (compared to the session wide pop lock of qpopper on the old system) like this: --- Jun 16 14:35:52 mb01 pop3(user at gol.com): Timeout while waiting for release of exclusive fcntl() lock for index

POP (dot) locks
Hello, just to soothe my paranoia from many years of qpopper usage, which enforces solitary access to a POP mailbox. Only one login per user is possible at the same time and if a session terminates w/o qpopper being properly notified it will remain locked for some time, 30 minutes by default. With dovecot (0.99.10.4) one can login multiple times (using POP, with IMAP of course this comes as

pop/imap & smtp auth installation with just one userdb
Hi First of all thanks to the authors of dovecot. It's a pleasure to work with it. I would like to ask, if somebody has an idea about how I can combine all mailusers (dovecot pop/imap & sendmail smtp) into one db, given that I'd like to use sasl with CRAM-MD5 as authentication mechanism to ensure security. The idea behind my question is, that it is easier to administer all mail

Question about $pat in pop-before-smtp.conf
Hi, I have setup dovecot to log all successful pop3 and imap logins into /var/log/mail.log I want to use pop-before-smtp to process the log file and write a .db file where sendmail can look up ip addresses that are allowd to relay. mail.log entries look like this: dovecot: 2006-01-26 17:22:28 Info: pop3-login: Login: user=<planat25>, method=PLAIN, rip=213.83.32.125, lip=192.168.1.98

pop-before-smtp Dovecot pattern
Hi, Having some problems with the default pattern in the pop-before-smtp.pl.conf file for dovecot. Also the one off the dovecot wiki doesn't seem to work and since I can't seem to figure out how these patterns work I hoping someone could help me out with a custom pattern. This is what my mail log looks like: Apr 8 23:30:40 nemesis dovecot: pop3-login: Login: user=<bjorn>,

User login for SMTP but not for IMAP/POP?
Hello everybody, I have a question, though I'm not sure if it's a matter of dovecot or postfix. Or if it's even possible to do at all. If I understand it correctly, SMTP authentification is done via SASL. When a user wants to login Postfix queries an external user database (dovecot). Therefore the SMTP-users are identical to the IMAP/POP-users. I want to achieve the following: I

Using Dovecot for IMAP/POP and SMTP
All, I was wondering if it is possible to use Dovecot as both incoming and outgoing. I have a friend that I am helping build a server, and he plans on using Dovecot for POP/IMAP and Postfix for SMTP and mailbox storage. If I understand right, Dovecot can handle both services and that is the path I would like him to take for easier maintenance. Can someone confirm this?
