Problem migration from Courier-Imap to Dovecot
Dear friends,
My intention is to migrate from Courier-Imap
Dovecot 4.4.1 to 1.1.16, the problem is that I've noticed that when
creating folders using the Courier does not create the file
courierimapsubscribed therefore I doubt if this will bring me problems
trying to perform the migration script by courier-dovecot-migrate.pl

Maildir migration: Courier-imap 4.4.3 to Dovecot 1.2.
Hi all.
I am currently gathering information about migration of Maildir/
structures from Courier to Dovecot.
What do you think about http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier ?
For each courier Maildir account I want to use
http://www.dovecot.org/tools/courier-dovecot-migrate.pl to produce
dovecot-uidlist file
mv courierimapsubscribed subscriptions
sed sed -i 's/INBOX\.//' subscriptions

Poor pop3 over nfs performance
Hi,
About a week ago I upgraded our reasonably heavily loaded mail servers
from a pretty recent courier version to dovecot-1.1rc10. IMAP
performance on dovecot is amazing, however POP3 performance is worse
than courier :-( I have uploaded some munin graphs taken today to
http://linweb.atlas.pipex.net/dovecot/; the dovecot server is handling
about 2000 pop logins/sec and 300 imap sessions (but

Migration problems from Courier-Imap
Hi,
I'm migrating from Courier-Imap to Dovecot-Imapd and I have some problems..
I don't want to change the IMAP folders, so I wish to have Dovecot's
compatibility with Courier's IMAP folders.
In the Dovecot configuration I configured this:
namespace private {
separator = .
prefix = INBOX.
inbox = yes
}
Dovecot correctly shows me the INBOX folder, but doesn't show me the

courier-dovecot-migrate.pl issue
Hi,
I'm testing migration from courier to courier-0.57.0 to
dovecot-imap-1.1.12 on a debian/sid box.
When running the migration script, non of the active users'
"courierimapsubscribed" and "courierimapuiddb" files seem to be
detected:
ZENON:~# ./courier-dovecot-migrate.pl --to-dovecot --recursive /home

Migrating from courier-imap to dovecot
Hello Gang,
I am new to dovecot and the only reason (so far) I would like to use
dovecot, and in production with 12k+ users, is the fact that it's
supposed to be faster and less of a resource hog.
Now, sometimes I am really good at reading the documentations but it
sometimes happens that one overlooks something. I did read the migration
notes three times!
My users are in /etc/passwd and I

Migration from Courier to dovecot
hi list,
I've just registered to the list, so please be tolerant ;) I'm currently
in the process of planning the migration from courier to dovecot as
POP/IMAP-Server. I'm migration from Courier 0.58 (Debian-Etch-packages)
to Dovecot 1.1.13 (Debian Lenny Backport).
The conversion of the Mailbox from Courier to Dovecot will be done with
"courier-dovecot-migrate.pl"-script[1],

being courier_imap compatible
OK, I am running (for many years now) an existing courier_imap maildir
++ setup with exim as the MTA. Has been fine. I have my own custom
ldap schema for user account definition and authorization.
I installed dovecot 1.0 beta 7 as a test and have it listening on a
different port. I would like, if possible, to set things up so that
a user could use either dovecot or courier. Having to

Switch from courier to dovecot
I have an courier IMAP server running. To get sib dirs working I had to
rename them all to begin with a period ".".
e.g
Maildir
Maildir/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account1/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account2/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account3/{cur,new,tmp}
etc
If I uninstall Courier and install dovecot, will these "period" dirs be
seen by default?
I am fairly new to this and

automaticaly added as subscribed folder...
I really dunno about IMAP rfc or standard, I

1.0rc25: double INBOX folder (weird)
Let me start off by saying the initial cause was *not* a Dovecot bug. :)
If you have the default namespace "INBOX." (Courier emulation mode from
the Wiki) and an actual folder in your ~/Maildir/ with INBOX in the name
(~/Maildir/.INBOX.Miami), then Dovecot presents them both to the client
as the real Inbox in Thunderbird:
Account
Inbox (3)
Drafts
Sent

Mixed Courier POP3 and Dovecot IMAP environment
Hi,
Currently we support Courier POP and IMAP for all our users (users can
use IMAP as well as POP at the same time).
We are thinking about moving to Dovecot; but first moving away from
Courier IMAP to Dovecot IMAP (and maybe later also move to Dovecot POP).
This would create a mixed environment; after some research I have the
following questions.
To not break POP3 Courier and still be

Dovecot NFS Indexes and IMAP Migration
Hi there,
After being extremely impressed from implementing it in some customer
installations, I've decided to migrate our mail infrastructure to dovecot.
Being able to have /bin/checkpassword support across the board for pop,
imap, and smtp authentication, as well as being able to ditch stunnel for
the SSL layer...where were you in 2001?!? :)
I have two concerns, the first is about the

Repair/Cleaup Maildir
After having fought an issue with Courier-imap on FC3 for a week (that
is still unresolved), I decided to try Dovecot instead.
So far, fingers crossed, the issue has not re-occured.
Migrating from courier-imap/sqwebmail to Dovecot/Squirrelmail was
reasonably painless but I now have an problem.
Is there a utility available to cleanup/repair the maildir tree for each
user ?

Courier to Dovecot: problems with folders
Hi all,
I am migrating a maildir Courier-IMAP installation to Dovecot.
Almost everything seems to work well, but I still have problems
accessing subfolders.
First let's see what I have done.
I used the courier-dovecot-migrate.pl script suggested in
http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier to convert mailboxes from
Courier to Dovecot. No problems here.
My dovecot.conf contains this:

Courier migration and vpopmail with dovecot-lda
I've been using Dovecot in some fresh installs lately and have found
it fairly easy to configure. However I'm starting on a migration
that involves moving from some very old software (ancient vpopmail,
qmail and Courier).
On the Courier front, I've reviewed the migration page in the wiki,
and it looks like the main concerns are just matching the namespace
and then using the migration

Splitting up mail_location setting?
mail_location setting has started becoming a bit bloaty. I'm not
actually even sure why I've kept adding more parameters to it rather
than just adding new settings. It's also caused confusion, because
people try things like:
mail_location = mbox:/var/mail/%u
mail_location = mbox:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
Although the first one has been giving ok enough error message for a
long time now and
