running * on a VPN gateway
If like me you run * on a VPN (or multihomed) gateway and want to serve remote SIP clients, make sure you have bindaddr = 192.168.0.1 ; or whatever is your box's private IP otherwise * might bind to its public IP and send it as return address in the SIP call setup, which will (should) be rejected by your firewall. To * experts: might this setting interfer with NATed SIP clients? -- I

Hooking postfix into dovecot
Cyrus has to be added to master.cf and transport_maps has to be set to "cyrus:localhost". So my question is how do I get the mails from postfix to dovecot? Hope it's okay to submit these type of questions here :) Thanks -- Tom Sommer -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... dovecot vs cyrus, uw, etc.
I've been doing research on switching our current e-mail server (qpopper, sendmail) to imap. The decision on which server to use is essentially down to Cyrus and Dovecot -- I like Cyrus' approach to a lot of things, but the "blackbox" nature of it makes some niceties like using spamassassin and procmail difficult, or at least counterintuitive. Dovecot seems to play nicer with

Virtual users, postfix and dovecot deliver LDA

Background: I have setup postfix and dovecot. Postix is configured to ldap alias maps and is delivering mails to /var/spool/vmail/username/Maildir correctly . Username is ldap attribute sAMAccountName from

The latest dovecot fixes the problems with most mail clients
.99.10.4 fixes most the issues with kmail. For some reason if I look at an email and then go to another one and then try to go back to one I've already viewed sometimes it shows the mail as an atacment. This version does fix the problem with squrrelmail not being able to subscribe to folders. Thanks for the fixes. --

Re: dovecot Digest, Vol 21, Issue 24: vacation messages
Normally, the vacation message works with the default mail server (MTA). In my case, I use the vacation program. Postfix delivers to the local mail user and if they have a .forward with the vacation info on it gets called. For a truly virtual setup that does not require unique uids on the filesystem there is gnarwl. Gnarwl is a program written in C that does vacation messages for virtual
