SSL and certificate authorities.
Hi all. Usually for in-house use and SSL I would just generate a self-signed certificate because most clients either ignore it or only ask the first time the account is configured. In terms of offering the service to our customers is there any value of getting someone like thawte or instantssl to sign a certificate for imaps/pop3s/smtp? Also, is there a configuration directive for dovecot

POP3/IMAP newbie question
Is it possible to serve both POP3 and IMAP for the same user from the same mailbox format, e.g. the maildir format? If so, how should I configure in dovecot.conf? At the moment I have (dovecot -n): # 1.1.beta2: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf base_dir: /var/run/dovecot/ protocols: imap imaps pop3 pop3s ssl_disable: yes disable_plaintext_auth: no login_dir: /var/run/dovecot//login

dovecot with different POP3S / IMAPS Certs
Hi, I'm new to dovecot, but actually planning to switch a wide WU-IMAP/POP installation to dovecot. With WU-IMAP, a different certificate can be used by pop3s and imaps, allowing both server to be reachable through different hostnames, without SSL complaints on the client side; this is mostly used for scalability. I'm trying to do the same thing with dovecot; that is having dovecot using

separate SSL certificates for pop3s and imaps
Hi, I'm migrating a uw-imap installation to dovecot. With uw-imap I had different SSL certificates and keys for ipop3d and imapd. How can I configure dovecot to do the same with its pop3s and imaps services? Require different setting for mail_location for each of POP3S and IMAPS protocols
Okay, Let's try this a different way. I've been able to configure past dovecot to have a different mail_location setting for the same user, but with different protocols. When the user requests POP3S, I adjusted the mail_location to /var/mail/$USER (with mbox in use). When that *same* user requested IMAPS protocol, the required mail_location is the Maildir folder. This allows for

IMAPs and POP3s poxying
Hi All, I have a polotical situation at work that requires that I off-load mail access to a host other than the one our users have configured in their clients. I don't have access to any of the switching or routing to our hosts, and there's only a 1 to 1 relationship between the proxy I want to set up and the actual mail handler. I was looking at the proxying Howto in the Wiki and

LDAP imaps,pop3s authentication problem
Hi, i'm using LDAP authentication with dovecot, and it's working flawlessly, until i enable SSL.. (even imaps or pop3s) i can't log in... if i test the certificates, and the login with the `openssl s_client - host example.com -port 993 -verify -debug` command, it works, until i want to log in... it lists the capibilities, but when i login it says "01 NO LOGIN failed"...

Calling gentoo maintainers
If anyone knows someone with CVS access can they please take another look at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22080. It has been in bugzilla for nearly nine months. Would like to see this in portage - masked is fine - so at least everyone is working off the same file. Cheers Zach. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... SSL CA root certificate
In reading through the mailing list, this question seems to have come up before, but never quite answered. I bought a certificate from Digital Signature Trust which is a well known certificate authority. The reason I bought my certificate, was so that email clients connecting to my imaps server wouldn't be bothered with warnings of unrecognized certificate authority as they would see with a

Putting caller in queue and dialing an extension simultaneously
Hi, Is it possible to do this in extensions.conf to put a caller in queue and dial an agent's extension so that he knows that somebody is in queue waiting to be answered. This agent will be a remote agent and extension will dial his cell phone. Thanks Zach A. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

postfix + dspam + dovecot problem
Hi All, I'm new to dovecot (coming from cyrus) and have a bit of a problem setting up postfix + dspam + dovecot. 1. postfix + dovecot: works like a charm. Using "mailbox_command = /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver" in postfix main.cf 2. adding dspam to the equation: unable to deliver: net_connect(/usr/var/run/dovecot/auth-master) failed: No such file or directory Using

pop3s fails, imaps works great
hey all- i'm running dovecot-0.99.10p2 on OpenBSD 3.4-snapshot (installed from ports). i have had 0 problems with imaps -- it's been running like a charm! however, i'm trying to get pop3s set up for some of my users, but i can't seem to connect from ANY client. in /etc/dovecot.conf, i've got: protocols = imaps pop3s and i've also got pop3s_listen set up with the

dovecot2 Beta2: different certs for imaps and pop3s
Hello, is it possible to use differnent ssl certs for pop3 and imap ? I like to have differnet dnsnames for pop3 an imap services configured at customers clients. I tried to configure ssl_key and ssl_cert inside a <protocol>-login {} section but this failed. Of course I know sslcerts containing multiple dnsnames. But this seemes not a real, clean solution to me. Thanks, Andreas --

director -> POP3s/IMAPs -> mailbox host
Hello again, I did a lot of trial and error already, but I can't seem to find a way to encrypt my dovecot director to dovceot mailbox traffic. Is there a way to configure dovecot director to only use ssl/tls encrypted connections for specific tagged mailbox clusters? (or all clusters, in fact does not matter if it could be restricted to tags) Looks like there is also no documentation

FXS channel banks
Greetings list, I've been asked to provide a system for 200 extensions, most of which will be existing analogue POTS handsets, not IP handsets. I've not really had any experience with large channel banks in the past (since most of our deployments are strictly IP-only to the desk), so I'm at a loss as to which ones are worth looking at. If anyone's had experience using channel

Can't run POP3 and IMAP simultaneously from xinetd...
Hello all, I'm hoping you can help out with an issue I'm having running dovecot-beta8 on Solaris 9 (SPARC). The reason I need to run them from xinetd is that we require the filtering ability that tcp_wrappers provide. My issue is that, when running both from xinetd, IMAP runs fine, but then, when you try to POP in to check mail on the same box, it seems that the login section is
