I have waited and waited and tried what seems like everything but can't get that stupid icon to come up. Any ideas??? Scott

Support for Kmail maildir format
Has anyone looked into providing support in dovecot for Kmail folders? I would like to make my Kmail folders (on my main desktop system) available to my other systems (including over a VPN when I am travelling). Kmail is my main mail program and I have a lot of mail in a lot of folders, so I don't want to set up a separate IMAP service and move all the mail and folders. Kmail's use

Slightly OT : Maildir format (silly) questions
Hello, I was asking what was the motivation for not having the envelope From in the Maildir format, as defined in the qmail spec : "The message is delivered without an extra UUCP- style From_ line, without any >From quoting, and without an extra blank line at the end." which may sound silly since we lose an important piece of information. Same question about the motivation in

Maildir format
Started using dovecot and I am very impressed by its speed. I am confused by what it is expecting the format of the Maildir directory to be in. I currently have ~/Maildir which contains new, cur, and tmp all containing email that should be in my inbox and it pops up correctly as such when I connect to dovecot using Mutt. After the connection a new .INBOX is created under ~/Maildir with sym

vsftp vs shell logins
I need to be able to allow specific system accounts to ftp to a box. As far as I can tell I have to give them a shell in /etc/passwd (i.e. /bin/bash) in order for their ftp login to work. I do *not* however want them to be able to log into a shell or ssh session. I cannot restrict by IP. What's the best way to accomplish this? Thanks, Scott

unexpected subfolder locaton in Maildir/.INBOX.subfolder
Hallo, I try to migrate existing imap server to dovecot 1.2 in debian squeeze if I connect to imap://user at host/INBOX Inbox works as expected and I get the content of Maildir/{cur,new,tmp} Maildir/.subfolder already exists if I connect to imap://user at host/INBOX.subfolder I get "folder not found" if I do a imap directory listing (raw mutt config, no subscriptions)

Binc IMAP "IMAPdir" style layout
Hi, I'm in the process of migrating several years worth of mail to be accessible via an IMAP server. Some time ago, I evaluated both Binc IMAP and Dovecot and found Dovecot to be much faster on large folders, which is quite important to me. One thing I did not however manage to determine from the documentation on namespaces is whether or not it is possible to implement what Binc IMAP calls

Maildir + Evolution
I don't know if this is an Evolution bug or not, but when I use the maildir format with Dovecot 0.99.10p2 (from OpenBSD packages collection) and connect to it from Evolution 1.4 using IMAP, Evolution displays subfolders incorrectly. It actually does not show any subfolders, only root folders with names like "Folder.Subfolder" and "Folder.Subfolder.Subsubfolder".

Sub-Sub-Subfolders not shown after converting from maildir to mdbox
Hi again, I just recognized a problem concerning subfolders after converting from maildir to mdbox. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey don?t show folders that are subfolders of subfolders. Have a look at the filesystem: discovery:/var/mail/domain.tld/patrick/mdbox/mailboxes/Folder1/Folder2# ls -l insgesamt 8 drwx------ 2 vmail vmail 4096 5. Sep 23:42 dbox-Mails drwx------ 3 vmail vmail 4096 5. Sep

debugging mail_location issues
Type of Maildir structure I am using came from KDE. No '.'s just folders. something like Maildir/ INBOX mail-sent outbox other where each has cur new and tmp folders. if I access this directory with IMAP it creates cur new and tmp in the root. ie Maildir/ INBOX cur new tmp mail-sent outbox other This implies to me 1. it finds the Maildir directory 2. it apparently does not

mdbox: Cannot create subfolder called "dbox-Mails" (2.0beta5)
I am trying out "mdbox" under Dovecot 2.0beta5. Looking in the "mailboxes" directory under the mdbox storage root ("~/dbox" in my case), I can see that the mail folders are mapped into filesystem directories. But Dovecot seems to put all the message list information ("dovecot.index.cache", "dovecot.index.log") for any given mail folder into a

Dovecot doesn't seem to report all subfolders to Thunderbird
Hi, I've recently migrated my emails from a Yahoo account to my own mailserver on a VPS. Ever since then, Thunderbird seems to have issues with the mailbox's directory structure: When I start Thunderbird, it immediately deletes the local copies of all 3rd-level folders (i.e. subfolders of a subfolder of a folder in the mailbox root). Since that didn't happen with the Yahoo account, I

Folding@Home CentOS Team
All, The CentOS Folding at Home team has cracked the top 10% of all the folding teams. We could use some more members that have CPU Cycles to spare :) Folding at Home is a great distributed computing program that is used to process items for medical research teams. It is similar to SETI at Home (if you are familiar with that). Here is info on Folding AT Home: http://folding.stanford.edu/

Maildir with INBOX and other folders at same level
Hello- I have set up Dovecot before and feel fairly comfortable with it but am having some issues with a new setup and have not been able to find a solution via Google or the list archives. I use offlineiimap to sync an IMAP account with an email provider. After the sync is complete, my ~/Maildir is set up with a folder called INBOX (with cur, new, tmp inside) and all my other folders set up at

Maildir format migration
Hi all, I am planning to use dovecot IMAP on my server. Currently it is running UW-IMAP server with Maildir format storing users' mail. I've found that dovecot uses different Maildir format from UW-IMAP. Is there any configuration option for adapting dovecot to use format used by UW-IMAP? Thanks a lot. Tony.

Samba and Win2k
All, Just received our first win2k/sp1 machine here. We currently have two solaris 2.6 samba installations running. One is on our print server and is version 1.19.something. The other is on our file server and is version 2.0.0. The win2k machine seems quite happy to print from the 1.19 version and there seem to be problems there. However, when I try to connect to the file server machine I get
