0.99.4 released
This fixes the last weird bugs that I know of. Now just a few more missing features and 1.0 should be there :) v0.99.4 2002-12-01 Timo Sirainen <tss at iki.fi> - Command parser had several bugs when it didn't have enough data to parse the full command in one call, ie. network lags etc. triggered those bugs sometimes. This was the last "weird bug" I know of. - Mbox

1.0.0-test28 Problem with INDEX
Hi Using this line in dovecot.conf (ignore linewrap) default_mail_env = mbox:%h/IMAP/:INBOX=%h/.email:INDEX=/var/cache/dovecot/%n The INBOX indexes are being built correctly in /var/cache/dovecot, but all other indexes for folders are still being built in the user's home directory. I had it working once - but it seems fragile - almost as if the config parser is sensitive to context???

Fwd: Weird problem opening mbox in beta1/2
Hmm, this is peculiar! This mailbox has been unchanged on my test server since September. I've been using it to test each new version of Dovecot just after I've compiled it. When beta1 was released, I opened this mbox with no problems. However, when I upgraded to beta2, I got "file size unexpectedly shrinked in mbox file /export/mail/a/24/vis99003/INBOX (16895967 vs 16899267)".

Benchmarking CVS HEAD vs. v1.0
Some new features in CVS HEAD are: - v1.0 saves most of the data to dovecot.index.cache only when the client is FETCHing the messages. With mboxes the message headers are saved while parsing the mbox, which is almost the same thing. With CVS HEAD the dovecot.index.cache file is updated already when the new messages are being saved (with deliver or IMAP APPEND). This avoids reading the message

It's ALWAYS failed on the other NAMESPACE. 0.99.6rc3
Well, "release candidate" wasn't really right name for last two versions. Maybe not for this one either, it has a few changes that could potentially break things badly (new hash table code especially). Anyway, seems to work with me. If I don't see any problems with it for a few days it'll be the final. The really great news is that we support threading. A lot of people have

one other thing, fts_autoindex does NOT appear to be working on the #ARCHIVE/ NAMESPACE. I wonder if these are all interrelated? Trash expire plugin
Dovecot will soon have a plugin which allows running a nightly cronjob to expunge mails from configured mailboxes which have been in there for a configurable amount of time. For example the configuration could be: plugin { # Trash 7d, Spam 30d expire = Trash 7 Spam 30 } It also supports using Dovecot's lib-dict to keep track of the mailboxes and their oldest mail's timestamp, so that

0.99.9 release candidate 1
0.99.9 should really be released soon. There's been quite a lot of important fixes since 0.99.8.1. There's still some recent counter strangeness, but it wasn't perfect before either. mbox still doesn't necessarily notice flag changes unless they're written into index file (ie. non-Dovecots and Dovecot without index files). But it wasn't perfect before either.
