Maildir subfolder conversion from courier-imap
Hello,
I am trying to convert a maildir that was managed by courier-imap up to
now to dovecot. I am using the courier-dovecot-migrate.pl script as follows:
courier-dovecot-migrate.pl --convert --recursive ~/Maildir
However, this command only seems to convert the base maildir, but not
all the subfolders. I thought that that's what the --recursive option
was for.
Is the command above

folders are not under INBOX
hi guys,
I hope it's common trouble, but I'm not able to find a solution:
- i'am using courier imap and trying to migrate to the dovecot
- on courier I have all folders as subfolder of Inbox - i.e. Inbox.Sent
but on dovecot the folder Sent is not subfolder of Inbox, but its on the
same level.
Please is there some possibility to have the subfolders the same
behaviour as in courier?

header-lines of subfolders have to be rescanned after each client startup
Hi all,
after each startup of my different mail clients (thunderbird, outlook,
...) the contents of subfolders if I click in has to be renewed. This
takes some time for large folders. I just migrated from courier. And
there all subfolders were available immediately. Is there something to
configure?
Another effect regarding subfolders is that the client forgets, which
subfolders were opened

Converting Courier mailboxes to Dovecot
Hi,
I have around 100 mailboxes (maildirs) to convert from Courier IMAP
(4.1.3) to Dovecot.
(From a recent backup) I've tested a few mailboxes on Dovecot 1.0.0, and
while the client doesn't notice any difference (at least in Thunderbird)
I'm hoping to get rid of the old Courier folders and convert any useful
information they may have into Dovecot.
I've tried Timo's

Dovecot Courier
Hello, I've been testing dovecot, and it appears to be much faster then
courier-imap. I am using the latest .99 version, trying to make the
transition from courier to dovecot as smooth as possible. We really only
use IMAP via squirrelmail, I think I've got that worked out fine,
changing a few settings in squirrelmail as the FAQ instructs and
migrating the courier subscriptions to

Thunderbird IMAP woes
Hi,
I'm a new dovecot user. We've actually just migrated our email system
from Courier-IMAP to Dovecot (2.0 rc5) cause we were choking on IO and
resources, and dovecot's cache and indexing really seems to help, not to
mention the awesome amount of options, tweaks, and extra features, so
far, I'm lovin' it. However, we're having a few issues with Thunderbird
and I

Migrating from Courier-IMAP to Dovecot
Hi!
I'm currently trying to migrate from courier-imapd to dovecot...
Unfortunately I'm experiences some difficulties here...
Since I don't want any user to notice the change of the server backend
I've tried changing the namespace in dovecot.conf to
namespace private {
separator = .
location = maildir:~/Maildir
prefix = INBOX.
inbox = yes

Transition from Courier-IMAP
Hello all,
Currently we are looking at the possibility of moving from Courier-IMAP
to Dovecot (the one that comes with Debian Lenny: version 1.0.15). I'm
currently testing it on a non-production server and have a few questions:
1) Currently all our clients use Thunderbird as their mail client to
read mail from our IMAP server. Thunderbird is configured with "INBOX."
as the

Problem with huge IMAP Archive after Courier migration
I have a mail server running Debian 6.0 with Courier IMAP to store
project related mail.
Currently the maildir of the archive (one user) contains about 37GB of data.
Our staff is acessing the archive via Outlook 2007 where they drag their
Exchange inbox or sent files to it.
The problem with courier is that is sometimes mixes up headers with
message bodies, so I wanted to migrate to dovecot.

unexpected subfolder locaton in Maildir/.INBOX.subfolder
Hallo,
I try to migrate existing imap server to dovecot 1.2 in debian squeeze
if I connect to imap://user at host/INBOX
Inbox works as expected and I get the content of
Maildir/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.subfolder already exists
if I connect to imap://user at host/INBOX.subfolder
I get "folder not found"
if I do a imap directory listing (raw mutt config, no subscriptions)

namespaces
I'm trying to use the namespaces feature to set up dovecot to look just
like our existing Courier IMAP server, and our previous Cyrus server. That
is, all folders are subfolders of INBOX, and the hierachy separator is
".". I put this in the configuration file:
namespace private {
separator = .
prefix = INBOX.
location = maildir:~/.maildir
}
This makes subfolders

Migration problems from Courier-Imap
Hi,
I'm migrating from Courier-Imap to Dovecot-Imapd and I have some problems..
I don't want to change the IMAP folders, so I wish to have Dovecot's
compatibility with Courier's IMAP folders.
In the Dovecot configuration I configured this:
namespace private {
separator = .
prefix = INBOX.
inbox = yes
}
Dovecot correctly shows me the INBOX folder, but doesn't show me the

Courier to Dovecot: problems with folders
Hi all,
I am migrating a maildir Courier-IMAP installation to Dovecot.
Almost everything seems to work well, but I still have problems
accessing subfolders.
First let's see what I have done.
I used the courier-dovecot-migrate.pl script suggested in
http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier to convert mailboxes from
Courier to Dovecot. No problems here.
My dovecot.conf contains this:

Public Mailbox & ACLs
Hi,
I'm having a problem I can't get my head around. I'm trying to setup a
public mailbox that is hidden from all users unless granted access through
an ACL.
My folder structure is (migrated from a Courier IMAP/Qmail server):
/var/spool/maildir - main public folder (contains a few .qmail files to
redirect mail to the correct subfolder)
/var/spool/maildir/Support - support public

wierdness with mailboxes
Mail has always been the bane of my sys-admin life. I've been looking
long and hard for a small, C-based, simple IMAP server that worked well
with maildirs *and* mboxes and nothing else. wu-imap is so bloated and
rife with decrepit, cross-platform, insecure code that I avoid it for
any new servers. Courier-imap only supports maildirs but has some
wierdnesses that I've come to live with.

Dovecot and Mail.app
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I'm trying to convert a courier-imap installation over to using
Dovecot, but I'm having some problems with Mail.app on OS X. FTR, we
use both Mail.app and Thunderbird. Note that in the Mail.app
preferences, I have a blank IMAP Path Prefix. I'm using Dovecot
1.0_rc15 on Gentoo, and Mail.app from OS X 10.4.8, Thunderbird 1.5.0.9.

Sub-Sub-Subfolders not shown after converting from maildir to mdbox
Hi again,
I just recognized a problem concerning subfolders after converting from
maildir to mdbox. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey don?t show folders that are
subfolders of subfolders.
Have a look at the filesystem:
discovery:/var/mail/domain.tld/patrick/mdbox/mailboxes/Folder1/Folder2#

Maildir format
Started using dovecot and I am very impressed by its speed. I am
confused by what it is expecting the format of the Maildir directory
to be in. I currently have ~/Maildir which contains new, cur, and tmp
all containing email that should be in my inbox and it pops up
correctly as such when I connect to dovecot using Mutt. After the
connection a new .INBOX is created under ~/Maildir with sym

Question about folder sharing

I run dovecot (2.1.7) on debian wheezy in conjuniction with postfix,
samba4 (as ldap backend) and sogo. I configured folder sharing but have
an few issues.
With my current config users can share the inbox and other folders. If
the acl allows creatings subfolders this does work for all folders
beside inbox.
What i want to archiev is the following:

Slightly OT : Maildir format (silly) questions
Hello,
I was asking what was the motivation for not having the envelope From in the
Maildir format, as defined in the qmail spec :
"The message is delivered without an extra UUCP-
style From_ line, without any >From quoting, and without an
extra blank line at the end."
which may sound silly since we lose an important piece of information.
Same question about the motivation in
