dovecot-auth
Hi, I'm a new list member, I?m a not an English native speaking (so, please forgive any error you can find in this mail) and I'm trying to install Dovecot in Debian Woody. I've installed the Dovecot package from backports and I?m trying to configure it to get the credential authentication from an LDAP backend. This is the configuration process summary I?ve done; if you need some

Setup help
I'd previously had dovecot running on a Debian server but recently migrated to Suse. The nice, simple setup for dovecot on debian is not as easy using the dovecot sources. My lack of experience I'm afraid! I'd like to continue to use dovecot, especially as my current maildir directories are all set up ready to be use again. On suse (sles9) I have users authenticating by LDAP. In

Help with LDAP authentication - user / user+domain
Hello Folks, I've my dovecot working well and authenticating in my ldap servers. But I'd like configure my users to authenticate in two ways. One is just submitting the username and the other one is providing user at domain.com . I'm moving from a cyrus-imap solution to dovecot and I've implemented it with VD domains. But nowadays I still have one domain at my servers.

Fatal: setgid, imap connections dropped.
Hi, I'm getting errors with my IMAP setup. Basically, everything seems to work. Mail is delivered nicely from Postfix to Dovecot via LMTP. Dovecot does the authentication to LDAP (also for Postfix). Users are able to send mail via authenticated submission (Postfix) and login into IMAP and POP. However, IMAP connections are dropped frequently with an "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP

LDAP auth problems "unknown user"
Hi, I am setting up a dovecot instance to host a bunch of virtual domains, with ldap backing for auth. I am using a single hostname for test purposes, with a couple of entries in the diectory. If I use auth binds I get a result, but this does not suit the end purpose of the server. If I use ldapsearch with the same base, search filter, and credentials as the ldap auth config I get the correct

smb + ldap: changing passwords from windows: SSHA instead of CRYPT
Dear friends, We have samba-3.0.21c-1 under RH9 + openldap 2.3.11 under FC4. When a windows user changes his password using Ctrl-Alt-Del the password is stored on ldap in SSHA format but we need to work with CRYPT because we have some apps that don't support SSHA. These are the lines related with authentication defined in smb.conf: encrypt passwords = yes ldap passwd sync = Yes

Massive Dovecot auth errors too strange for me
Hello out there, im running Dovecot on "ubuntu Dapper" serving pop3 only in maildir-style, but the dove-auth-process refuses "answers" to the deliver or login-process from time to time, (several times a day), and I have no glue whats going on and why ... Debbugging password-Auth surprised me, as the transmitted password IS correct and allows an successfull authenification lots

imap-login: Fatal: pipe() failed: Too many open files
Hi I keep on getting errors and can't connect/login to Dovecot. I did my research but unfortunately without success. It is for sure not ulimit because ulimit is set to unlimited per default already. Still , it complains about "Too many open files" but this is a test system and the service dovecot and postfix have just been started. No one except me is testing on this system.

Problem with multiple ldap passdb
Hi mailing list, I'm currently running dovecot 2.2.13 from Debian Jessie, all is running fine. However I am attempting to merge 2 LDAP authentication sources. I would like to attempt to authenticate against the first authentication source, if that fails either by password fail or user not found, then attempt the next LDAP server. I've added the a passdb and userdb entry for the new

SSHA with LDAP?
Poking around in the code for dovecot-stable seems to indicate that support has been added for the {SSHA} password scheme. This is not reflected in dovecot-ldap.conf. Is the SSHA code actually functional? Thanks! -Ben

dovecot and ldap passwords.
Hallo. First of all I'm sorry for my bad english. I have a question about how dovecot use passwords. I have all my mail accounts in a ldap database. The user password are stored in form: {crypt}mypasswd. In dovecot-ldap.conf I have default_pass_scheme = CRYPT. All is working fine. The problem in the crypt scheme is that I can't have passwords more than 8 characters long. So I've tried

Migrated fine except passwords
Hello, I migrated 140 users and computer accounts from NT4 to Samba 3.0.14 with ldap today. Smbldap-tools are the latest stable version from tarball. No errors during vampire and everyone came over and the groups and group memberships populated fine. We couldn't connect to the server as any user from client PC's. The smbldaptools were set to use SSHA encryption for password attribute

SQL passdb lookups not working
Hello everyone, I'm trying to make dovecot do user authentication against a SQL database. The passwords (managed by Django) are stored as salted SHA1 encoded in hex. I monkey patched Django's password method so that the password hash is made with <password><salt> (Django does <salt><password>, the patched method was verified to return same value as

Convert ssha password to sambaNTpassword?
Is it possible to take a SSHA password from an ldif and create a proper sambaNTpassword from it? Here's the scenario: the ldap servers in our organization do not have the samba schema installed and the likelihood of that happening is slim. I still want to provide clients with as close to a single sign on solution as possible and I can get an ldif of the accounts I need. However, the
