Errors with a blackberry
Hi - We tried to access a dovecot-0.99.10.7 IMAPS server with a Blackberry 7230. The Blackberry was on loan so we don't have much access to it for testing. We got the following in our logs: Jul 27 12:30:27 xserv imap-login: Login: testuser [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] Jul 27 12:30:27 xserv imap(testuser): IndexID mismatch for binary tree file /home/testuser/mail//.imap/INBOX/.imap.index.tree Jul 27

Squirrelmail - messages not marked as read
As of test-60 and test-61, running Squirrelmail 1.5.1[cvs] on FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE, messages are not marked as read after they are read. If I switch back to test-59, it works normally. When switching back to test-59, with log_path = /var/log/dovelog dovelog shows: dovecot: Jan 14 11:43:38 Error: IMAP(kimc): Corrupted index cache file /home/kimc/Maildir/dovecot.index.cache: indexid changed

dovecot Panic: file mail-index-sync-update.c: line 1013
An email came to several users but one user didn't receive it and we got 'Mail delivery failed' message. As I see from the log below, there were broken index file. Then dovecot repaired that index and we got the error: Panic: file mail-index-sync-update.c: line 1013 (mail_index_sync_map): assertion failed: (map->hdr.indexid == index->indexid || map->hdr.indexid == 0) It was

Multiserver config
Hi! I need use dovecot on 3 servers. Home directory and mail spool shared over NFS in pop3/pop3s only mode (no imap). What details for dovecot config need set? When I try 2-servers config, some time I get in log: Jun 7 04:31:01 cluster2 pop3(andy at atomail.com): IndexID mismatch for binary tree file /home/plasma/andy at atomail.com/mail//.imap/INBOX/.imap.index.tree But mail client not

Corrupt index files
I am running Dovecot IMAP on Linux, on a LizardFS storage cluster with Maildir storage. This has worked well for most of the accounts for several months. However in the last couple of weeks we are seeing increasing errors regarding corrupted index files. Some of the accounts affected are unable to retrieve messages due to timeouts. It appeared the problems were due to the accounts being accessed

Corrupted index files
Hi, I'm playing with Dovecot in a lab environment and got it in state where it crashes on every incoming connection. I moved mail spool from ext2 file system to a ReiserFS on a another disk, mount point changed from /var/vmail to /spool/vmail. After that I managed to open mailbox and I moved about 2000 messages from INBOX to a subfolder. Then I tried to open mailbox with POP3 and it

PC-Pine "Junk in end of group" (fwd)
Also, this line is popping up in my syslog. It wasn't there before the recompile: imap(paul): Error indexing mbox file /home/paul/mail/postponed-msgs: LF not found where expected Paul ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Wed, 24 Sep 2003 14:17:20 -0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) From: Paul <lists at pote.com> To: dovecot at procontrol.fi Subject: Re: [Dovecot] PC-Pine

Some issues in Dovecot 1.2.5 after upgrade from 1.0.15
We upgraded from Dovecot 1.0.15 to 1.2.5 last night, on Solaris 10 using mboxes, mostly without issues. However I had to trash the index/cache files (too many folders were showing corruption issues which is especially bad for Prayer Webmail ".prayer" folders that store preferences; Prayer sees a disconnection as the folder being missing!). I've had one imap process panic in mailbox

dbox benchmarks
http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-dbox-redesign/ Looks like multi-dbox scales pretty nicely. Even after 100k messages the peak saved msgs/sec is the same as the initial saved msgs/sec, even if the average slows down somewhat. I tested this by first deleting mailbox, then running "imaptest" for a second to get saving to start writing several fields to dovecot.index.cache file. Then ran

dbmail benchmarking
I thought I'd try benchmarking with dbmail (v2.2.4) to see how much slower a SQL backend could actually be. Skip to bottom for the conclusions. Originally I ran the tests with the databases being in XFS filesystem. MySQL's performance was horrible. It went 3-7x faster with ext3. MySQL 5.0.30 backend (innodb): ./imaptest clients=1 - append=100 seed=1 secs=30 msgs=1000000 logout=0

SpamAssassin and Public Namespace
Hi I know i might get flamed for asking this in the dovecot mailing list instead of the spamassassin one but i thought someone might be kind enough to help anyway. TIA I'm trying to do site-wide spam filtering with a public namespace but it's not reading the folder i have in the public namespace This is the public namespace set in my dovecot.conf #public spam folder namespace public

Just delete that index
I get a few messages of this ilk each day: Dec 16 01:56:31 aurora dovecot: IMAP(doug): Corrupted index cache file /home/doug/Maildir/.users.joe/dovecot.index.cache: indexid changed I usually address this by deleting dovecot.* in the directory of issue. I was thinking that I could instead just have the server delete these files and attempt to recreate them, and skipping that error message

beta8: cores on corrupted index file
Timo, I saw a couple of these cores over the weekend. The syslog says: May 21 19:04:48 emerald dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error] IMAP(user): Corrupted index cache file /home/students/s/user/.imap/sent-mail-apr-2004/dovecot.index.cache: indexid changed With a resulting core file from imap at this time. I also discovered a remaining lock file on the person's imap file: -rw------- 1 user
