Calling gentoo maintainers
If anyone knows someone with CVS access can they please take another
look at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22080. It has been in
bugzilla for nearly nine months. Would like to see this in portage -
masked is fine - so at least everyone is working off the same file.
Cheers
Zach.

Gentoo ebuild for 1.4?
Greetings list,
Does anyone know if there's a maintained 1.4 ebuild for Gentoo? Even with
the ~amd64 keyword, latest in the official Portage repository is 1.2.13.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Chris

[LLVMdev] Gentoo ebuild of LLVM
Hi guys,
there are few issues concerning LLVM and Gento Linux below.
1. Gentoo encourages to think of smarter packaging.
Oversimplified, but...
there are at least three audiences using LLVM:
- application users
- developers *using* LLVM in their projects
- developers *changing* LLVM sources.
Application users are not interested in LLVM, they are rather
interested to have their favorite

Unable to emerge Wine 1.1.5 on Gentoo AMD64
Hello,
I am currently trying to emerge wine on my Gentoo AMD64 system, and it is currently failing on the last package. I haven't been able to make much sense out of the error message. If anyone knows what is going on or can otherwise point me to where I should look or anything to try, it would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the error I am getting:

Gentoo ebuild
Hi!
Since I switched from SuSE to Gentoo (before Novell era :-) I wrote a simple
ebuild script for building wxruby on Gentoo.
Few notes:
a) in order to work, wxruby-0.1.0.tgz should contain wxruby-0.1.0 folder since
it is a Gentoo policy and I hope it''s not a problem to change that for 0.2.0
b) I assumed that one needs Ruby >= 1.8.0 and wx >= 2.4.1. Is it OK?
Please inspect

'dns update' compile error on gentoo
Hello,
Gentoo linux has just recently released samba 3.0.25c in portage. I
tried upgrading to it and it worked by default but the dns update
feature was not enabled. When I tried to add that option to the ebuild
script and then install samba, the process errors out when trying to
compile the dns portion.
I have tried reporting it to the gentoo developers but they won't

updated gentoo ebuild provides dovecot-sieve
I'm hoping that there are some Gentoo users on this list who will chime in
on a bug that is near and dear to my heart.
We've created an updated Gentoo ebuild that adds a sieve USE flag and
builds dovecot-sieve if the use flag is enabled.
The gentoo bug is here:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141743
and the ebuild is available as an attachment to that bug, or as a patch

/dev/zap* is not showing up (gentoo, portage, asterisk 1.0.8
It's a udev configuration. Read UDEV.txt, or, read the AMP wiki http://aussievoip.com for a step-by-step.

/dev/zap* is not showing up (gentoo, portage, asterisk 1.0.8)
hi there
I'm trying to get asterisk going on gentoo 2005.1
I'm just getting my feet wet so I thought I would just stick with the
stable portage packages. Right now that's asterisk 1.0.8
I emerge asterisk with the following make.conf file:
CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686"
CHOST="i386-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
USE="-gtk -gnome -qt -kde -dvd alsa

libshout, ices, and icecast2 CVS Ebuilds
All -
I've just posted a set of ebuilds (package format for the Gentoo distribution) in my web space. I figure I'm not the only one hacking on icecast that uses Gentoo and these haven't made it into the main Portage tree just yet. To use them, place them in the following locations underneath a Portage overlay directory (i.e. /usr/local/portage):
icecast2-cvs-2.0.ebuild into

GRSecurity and ALSA on a Gentoo Server
I've been working with Asterisk for about 2 months now and am doing
well. However I decided to switch platforms from Fedora Core 1, that my
predacessor was using, to Gentoo, for obvious reasons. It just seems
faster and less "bloated" everything I need, nothing I don't.
Anyways, I've read what the Wiki had to say about it and I was only
confused on one thing, putting

NVFaxDetect on Gentoo
Hi, I've merged asterisk-0.9.0 on a gentoo (kernel 2.4) system using
portage ebuilds. I've just got NVFaxDetect .c files from Justin Newman
and I'm about to install them. I want to know which is the best way to
accomplish this. Thanks in advance.

3.4.6 to 3.5.2 difficulties
Did an upgrade from samba 3.4.6 to 3.5.2 Left the smb.conf completely
unchanged. As background I'm using samba on gentoo amd64 with a ldapsam
backend on openldap. Upgrade went well, I thought. Users could login
and access their home directories. Service reloaded without issue.
Here was the issue though, windows 2003 servers couldn't login users
into the domain. These servers were

Looks interesting. I'm using Gentoo and the official portage tree doesn't have a liquidsoap ebuild. I noticed that Savonet actually prepared its own ebuilds but they are a bit outdated (2007).
I could build directly from source but I'd prefer to do it via
