Postfix locking equivalence?
/etc/postfix/main.cf.default:
mailbox_delivery_lock = flock, dotlock
Is flock equivalent to dovecot's fnctl locking? For mbox what type of
locking settings should I be using? (No NFS, only local filesystem.)

dovecot IMAP misserving problem?
http://togami.com/~warren/archive/2003/evolution-1.4.4-crash.mbox
I suspect that dovecot-0.99.10 is misserving this message in some way
that is confusing some IMAP clients. This behavior causes
evolution-1.4.4 to segfault, and squirrelmail-1.4.1 to be unable to read
the message. The same message served by uw-imapd works works fine in
both evolution and squirrelmail.

dovecot RPM for Red Hat Linux
http://bugzilla.fedora.us/show_bug.cgi?id=160
This .src.rpm is dovecot with RH-specific default settings. I modified
Jeremy Katz' dovecot-0.99.8.1 package a bit. When I upgraded from
0.99.8.1 it seemed to be broken until I looked at /var/log/maillog.
There it indicated that the dovecot cache files were bad, so I erased
/home/*/mail/.imap/ and it seemed to work subsequently.

Fedora dovecot Testing Needed
http://people.redhat.com/wtogami/temp/dovecot/
dovecot-0.99.10.5 binary packages for FC1 and FC2 are available here. I
need feedback from Fedora users with THESE ACTUAL BINARIES before
pushing them to official updates.
Note:
This does not solve the SSL related crash issue. That requires a patch
to OpenSSL or kernel. I am still trying to convince the maintainers to
patch it.

OH DEAR! - RE: 2.2.2 runaway SMBD process
Jeremy,
Bit of bad news - we had a another runaway SMBD. This time profiles were
NOT involved - I was simply copying up an installation of Office2000 and
then deleting it. It almost reached the end of the deletion when the
processor utilisation went up to 90%. The client connection then dropped
with a 'connection is no longer available' and there is now 99% processor
utilisation on the

dovecot and squirrelmail
Is anyone using squirrelmail with dovecot? After a few minor tweaks
squirrelmail seems to work great, but I can't seem to get rid of the
"./" folder.
SquirrelMail implements some workaround hacks for specific IMAP server
quirks. The default setting is:
$imap_server_type = 'uw';
What settings do you folks use?
Thanks,

Squirrelmail and Dovecot folder namespace
I am currently using Squirrelmail and Dovecot with this setting:
default_mail_env = mbox:%h/mail/:INBOX=%h/mail/INBOX
It works well, however folder subscriptions in Squirrelmail annoyingly
end up with "./" prefixes because Squirrelmail refuses to work without
overriding the folder namespace. All of my other IMAP clients work fine
without setting that option.
Squirrelmail's

* Go here if you want to test dovecot for RH9:

test how Evolution reacts to reading this message?

Runaway MOH/mp3123 process?
Has anyone noticed a problem with runaway mpg123 processes for
music-on-hold eating up ~100% CPU and driving the load on the
machine way up?
I've seen this problem consistently with multiple Asterisk
installs, 1.2.x and 1.4.x, although admittedly it was more
common with 1.2.x as far as I can tell.
There is no clearly identifiable sequence of events that causes
this to occur, although it

Runaway samba processes
Hi,
I need some help!
We have Samba 2.2.5 running on AIX 4.3.3. The server is a very heavy
duty server, and has 3 main shares, which are very large.
The problem is that after a few days of running, the server suddenly
stops killing off newly spawned smbd processes. They do not die, even
when the original smbd process is killed. They will respond to a kill
-9, but killing off the main PID

runaway process in 3.0.21b
Hi!
I'm running 3.0.21b on OpenBSD 3.8-stable (i386) with raidframe. Without any
apparent cause one of the smbd child processes has started to badly leak
memory (approx. 10Mb / minute) and possibly busy waiting, persistant across
reboots. The server has been running flawlessly in production for over three
months and absolutely nothing has changed on the server since it went into
production.

Runaway apcsmart process
On several occasions I have seen the apcsmart process runaway using 100% CPU
while filling my syslog partition by logging the following syslog entries at
an incredible rate. I have seen up to 21,800 log entries PER SECOND of the
following nature:
