help for static user
Hi everybody,
I have been long (for 2 days) trying, but I really need some help.
I would like to use virtual static users.
I configured my file as indicated in the documentation and then I
created the following directory, with the needed rights (mail account)
and leave them empty :
/var/mail/virtual/<mon_domaine>.fr/toto/
I am not sure that it is the good method, but I understand it

Dovecot + Xmail Setup Howto
OK I finally found time to write this. (this is for dovecot 99.X and Xmail
1.X >= 1.17)
(in dovecot 1.0 it'll able to auth against Xmail via a auth script. aka
You'll only need to have 1 user account databases, XMAIL's YAY !!!)
Steps:

authentication configuration
I've included the non-defaulted bits of my dovecot.conf file at the
bottom of this email.
As I understand my set-up it's using unix authentication methods
(/etc/passwd via pam?).
Considering disable_plaintext_auth and auth_mechanisms, what exactly is
being passed? I was hoping to get
auth_mechanism = digest-md5
but that's not working out very well right now. It seems I can only

Mail always is delivered to /var/mail/
Hey,
I am setting up Dovecot on Debian with Postfix. I am telling Dovecot
to use maildir:~/Maildir but it persists in dumping mail in mbox format
in /var/mail/username. Can anyone suggest ideas? My config file is
attached.

IMAP folders missing after migrating to Dovecot

Hello all,
I'm migrating to Dovecot from Courier-IMAP. I use Postfix with Maildir
for delivery.
When I use Dovecot as the IMAP server all of my folders are missing, the
only thing that remains is the Inbox folder.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have enclosed my configuration.

can't login in pop3 accounts

year, and haven't any luck with this problem, so I'm

Dovecot 1.0 POP3 login but no mail
Dovecot is installed on the hosted FC1 server I have, it was working fine
until yesterday when they had to bounce the server. I can login fine from
Outlook or connect telnet <hostname> 110. But even though I can see sendmail
has received mail into my %h/.maildir (via webmail's user mail facility)
when I log into dovecot via Outlook it does not retrieve any of it.

Ordering mailboxes
I have a really weird problem. To whit:
I compiled dovecot 0.99.10 on two different systems: a linux-ppc box running
Debian, and a Mac OS X Server v. 10.2.8. It compiled fine on both.
The same Maildir's are being served up on both -- the OS X server exports
home directories to the clients via NFS.
BUT the OS X box orders mailboxes this way:
INBOX
Deleted Items
Sent Items
.
.
.

A problem with gluster 3.3.0 and Sun Grid Engine
Hi,
We got a huge problem on our sun grid engine cluster with glusterfs
3.3.0. Could somebody help me?
Based on my understanding, if a folder is removed and recreated on
other client node, a program that tries to create a new file under the
folder fails very often.
We partially fixed this problem by "ls" the folder before doing
anything in our command, however, Sun Grid Engine

no such file or directory
I successfully installed dovecot 0.99.10 on a fedora box using postfix
2.0.11 and when I try to connect using my mozilla mail client I get the
following error in the maillog...

Dovecot startup at boottime fails
Hi,
I am running dovecot 0.99.10.4 on SuSE 9. I installed it using apt-get from
the gwdg repository.
The dovecot service is configured to start at boottime in run level 3 and 5.
However, it dies immediately with this error (/var/log/mail.err):
dovecot: Login process died too early - shutting down
Starting the service afterwords from a prompt as root with the command:
/etc/init.d/dovecot

dovecot/openldap auth problems?
Hi folks.
New to both dovecot and openldap. Trying to set up virtual domains
using the wanderingbarque howto:

Only difference is I'm trying to use phamm instead of jamm:

dovecot doesn't seem to want to play nice with my openldap; everything
else (postfix, etc) seems to work alright.

auth failure
well, with some help I've made a fair amount of progress on my box.
It's working out much easier than I had anticipated and perhaps my notes
will be useful some day.
I have two questions...

Rounding error in seq(...)
Hi,
Today I was flabbergasted to see something that looks like a rounding
error in the very basic seq function in R.
> a = seq(0.1,0.9,by=0.1)
> a
[1] 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 0.9
> a[1] == 0.1
[1] TRUE
> a[2] == 0.2
[1] TRUE

Find multiple elements in a vector
Hi,
Given a vector, say
x=sample(0:9,10)
x
[1] 0 6 3 5 1 9 7 4 8 2
I can find the location of an element by
which(x==2)
[1] 10
but what if I want to find the location of more than one number? I could do
c(which(x==2),which(x==3))
but isn't there something more streamlined? My first guess was
y=c(2,3)
which(x==y)
integer(0)
which doesn't work. I haven't found any clue in the R

Nested for loops
Hi,
I have spent some time locating a quite subtle (at least in my
opinion) bug in my code. I want two nested for loops traversing the
above-diagonal part of a square matrix. In pseudo code it would
something like
for i = 1 to 10

for j = i+1 to 10

}
However, trying to do the same in R, my first try was
for (i in 1:10)

for (j in (i+1):10)
