Logging suggestions?
Any suggestions how user login/logouts should look like in log files? I was thinking: (connected to imaps port) Login: username [IP 1.2.3.4, imaps, compressed] Logout: username [IP 1.2.3.4, imaps, compressed] [1000/100000 bytes (50%), 00:00:12] Bytes being upload/download and the 50% meaning compression ratio for downloaded bytes, probably not worth it for upload. Or if uncompressed, it'd

Partial proportional odds logistic regression
R-experts: I would like to explore the partial proportional odds models of Peterson and Harrell (Applied Statistics 1990, 39(2): 205-217) for a dataset that I am analyzing. I have not been able to locate a R package that implements these models. Is anyone aware of existing R functions, packages, etc... that might be used to implement the partial proportional odds models? Brant Inman

FETCH BODY vs FETCH BODYSTRUCTURE + FETCH BODY.PEEK
Hello, we are developing a web page, for a ticket system, to show the email messages ordered by the biggest attachments size present in an IMAP folder, with a pagination of 100 messages per page. Each raw represents a message with "DATE, FROM, SUBJECT, the preview (the first 500 chars of the text/html of the messsage) and the list of the attachments (name + size) it contains. The

Dovecot auth username mapping
Thank you for the response Axel. I will look into that. I did attempt to switch the PAM/Kerberos authentication to Dovecot LDAP authentication, but now performance is unbelievably slow. For example, with PAM/Kerberos, a user can log into webmail and have all of their emails/folders showing almost immediately. When using Dovecot LDAP, it takes literally 8-10 seconds to see the same thing. I

Mitel 5224/SIP no MWI
Does anybody know if this is supposed to work and if so, what, if any, workaround is needed? I have other phones (Snom, Polycom) MWI working with this system fine. 6.0.0.19 (latest) Mitel SIP firmware is loaded. Thanks for your time, - Jesse -- Jesse Peterson <jesse.peterson@exbiblio.com>

Dovecot auth username mapping
Peter, Yes that is a possibility. I will try disabling PAM (or switching the auth order) and see if that makes a difference. RFC 3501 violation in FETCH BODY responses
Hi there, Quoting RFC 3501 sec. 7.4.2 ?FETCH Response? (data item BODYSTRUCTURE): ?A body type of type MESSAGE and subtype RFC822 contains, immediately after the basic fields, the envelope structure, body structure, and size in text lines of the encapsulated message.? According the ABNF (RFC 3501 sec. 9) the envelope structure is that of the ENVELOPE FETCH data item, and the

access to 'formula' terms in a user function
This is probably buried somewhere in the R help archives, but I've been unable to find it, so perhaps the keywords I use here will help bring the topic to the surface more easily for future users. I want to write my own modeling function (ultimately for some multidimensional windowing - but this question is on scripting basics). For purposes of figuring out my needs, lets just consider

kern.maxdsiz on amd63 with i386 binaries
Hello, I've got a handful of i386 boxes, and a handful of amd64 boxes running a 32-bit application, the reasons for this exact configuration mystify me as well as the deployment predates my time in the environment. Now that the dataset the application is loading is rapidly approaching 512MB we're starting to tweak kern.maxdsiz and kern.dfldsiz to 1GB. The i386 boxes are doing

trouble with cloud output to bmp when in loop
I have some data that I need to view in various 3-D clouds. To better see the cloud structure on a 2-D screen I would like to output a bunch of bmp files with clouds at slightly different angles, then run them through an external program to animate them. But I'm having trouble getting cloud() from the lattice package to output to bmp files. Oddly, this is only a problem when outputting

dovecot proxy/director and high availability design
Round-robin DNS last I checked can be fraught with issues. While doing something else I came up with this idea: Clients --> Load Balancer(HAProxy) --> Dovecot Proxy(DP) --> Dovecot Director(DD) --> MS1 / MS2. When DP checks say user100 it'll find a host=DD-POD1 that returns two IPs, those of the two DD that sit in front of POD1. This DD pair is the only pair in the ring and

Maildir problem..
I have the most interesting problem... I've compiled dovecot from CVS with a checkout on 2002-12-15 around 23:00 PST. When I select a message in my MUA I can view it and stuff, however, if I select another message, or folder, the message disappears. It appears that dovecot shortens the Maildir message name to ":2,S" and then you can't access the message from the MUA again.

I've been using rsync for a long time, and it's very cool. For the first time, last night, I got a message I don't understand.
