default_mail_env %d problem
Hi all. I`ve got such problem: default_mail_env = mbox:%h/mail/:INBOX=/var/mail/domain.net.ua/%n - it works. But when I say: default_mail_env = mbox:%h/mail/:INBOX=/var/mail/%d/%n - it not. Problem with mbox files.
I have trouble to get my INBOX-mbox to work properly. I have set the default_mail_env, to this.. "default_mail_env = mbox:~/mail/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u" Since my users are using thier home-dirs to store folders and old mails, and recieving them in /var/mail/username. But when logging in i get this.. Sep 9 12:25:23 angelica imap-login: Login: username [217.151.192.103] Sep 9

0.99.5 released
v0.99.5 2003-01-02 Timo Sirainen <tss at iki.fi> * This release includes a lot of code cleanups, especially related to security. Direct buffer modifying was replaced in several places with a new buffer API, which provides a safe way to do it. Code that looks unsafe contains @UNSAFE tag to make auditing easier. + Support for SORT extension. Originally I thought about not

problems with migration to Maildir
I'm attempting to use Maildir and mbox together until I can finish migrating all mailboxes and figure out issues I'm having with a couple other mailboxes. But, I want to officially start using Maildir as the primary msg. store. Now...when I configure Dovecot as follows, it creates new folders in the ~/mail folder, which is where my mboxes reside: #default_mail_env =

1.0.0-test28 Problem with INDEX
Hi Using this line in dovecot.conf (ignore linewrap) default_mail_env = mbox:%h/IMAP/:INBOX=%h/.email:INDEX=/var/cache/dovecot/%n The INBOX indexes are being built correctly in /var/cache/dovecot, but all other indexes for folders are still being built in the user's home directory. I had it working once - but it seems fragile - almost as if the config parser is sensitive to context???

default_mail_env renaming
I was thinking about renaming default_mail_env to something that is more understandable. I'll keep it working for backwards compatibility anyway. How about: # Location for users' mailboxes. This is the same as the old default_mail_env # setting. The default is empty, which means that Dovecot tries to find the # mailboxes automatically. This won't work if the user doesn't have any

configuration problem: maildir folders and messages not found
Hi Perhaps I've been going too far OT in my previous thread or perhaps I just didn't explain my problem clear enough so forgive me for trying again. I have configured fetchmail to fetch my mail from my ISP's POP3-server. I have set up procmail to filter messages and deliver all non-filtered messages to the folder ".IN-catchall/" in "$HOME/Maildir" After sending

Maildir/mbox on a per-user basis
Hello, The Wiki indicates that Dovecot can do either mbox or Maildir on a per-user basis: default_mail_env can be overridden in userdb for each user. This works with userdbs supporting the "mail" attribute (eg. passwd-file, SQL, LDAP). How exactly does one do this for passwd-file? Thanks, -Jon -- Jon Nathan jon at rupture.net

Migrating UW-POP3 mbox storage to Dovecot POP3 mbox storage
Hi We have an mailserver running RedHat Linux 9.0 with UW-IMAP (imap-2001a- 18.progeny.1.src.rpm), we have user mailboxes in /var/spool/mail/username using the default mbox storage method. Some users have home directories and some dont. They only connect through the POP3 server, not IMAP. We are now migrating both hardware and software to an new server running RHEL 4, i have copied all

constant mailbox rebuilding with dovecot 1.0.10
I've recently upgraded to 1.0.10 in hopes that this problem would go away but no luck. I've got some users at my company with large inboxes on maildir (say 22,000 messages). Their mailboxes are hosted on nfs and dovecot is configured to do dotlocking. Still I see messages like this continually in the logs (sometimes every hour or so): server dovecot: IMAP(user): dotlock

INBOX as mbox, other mailboxes as maildir
All, I'm trying to teach dovecot to use the mbox format for /var/mail/%u and maildir for /home/%u/Mail/ but I'm having quite a hard time. This is Dovecot v1.0.beta3 under OpenBSD 3.9 on sparc64. I've been fiddling with default_mail_env and also tried separate namespaces, but all to no avail. Here's some of the things I tried : default_mail_env =

default_mail_env problems
sorry if this mail is a duplicate - I am testing the new mail system! I am having problems setting the default mail environment.# I am using Fedora Core 2 with version dovecot-0.99.10.5-0.FC2 My users all have an NFS mounted home directory, and all mail is delivered to ~Mail/.mailbox it is all mbox format. I would like to put the indexes on the local system in /var/indexes/{username}. So I

Setting IMAP root as user's home directory. How?
I'm trying to set up dovecot to use /home/username as IMAP root, but it keeps creating /home/username/mail. I need /home/username in order to migrate with the least changes from uw-imap, just by copying .mailboxlist without the INBOX line in it into .subscriptions I tried each of these, one at a time: default_mail_env = mbox:~/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u default_mail_env =
