Cisco 7940 log on/off
Hi All,
Anyone know if theres a way to share a Cisco 7940 between hot-desk
users?
My phones get their setup via SIP .cnf files, that load at boot via
tftp, so I'm assuming the configs a failry static. However if I want a
phone to be hot-desked, I could have different users sitting there. Is
there any concept of "logging on" in these environments?
Cheers,
Adrian

Failed to create storage with data
Switched from UW-IMAP to dovecot a little while ago. Worked through the
namespace hell with current users. But now I've hit another problem I can't
seem to figure out.
Some webmail (squirrelmail) users noticed that when they tried to login they
would jus get this error:
ERROR:
ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server.
Query: CAPABILITY
I discovered in the mail logs the real error

We are looking for a way to automate the handling of bounced emails.
I have spend some time looking an scan find one open source package,

Any suggestions on other packages?
TIA

Migrating UW-POP3 mbox storage to Dovecot POP3 mbox storage
Hi
We have an mailserver running RedHat Linux 9.0 with UW-IMAP (imap-2001a-
18.progeny.1.src.rpm), we have user mailboxes in /var/spool/mail/username
using the default mbox storage method.
Some users have home directories and some dont. They only connect through the
POP3 server, not IMAP.
We are now migrating both hardware and software to an new server running RHEL

NFS mail storage
The parameters listed for nfs installations (mmap_disable,
doctlock_use_excl, mail_nfs_storage, mail_nfs_index) - are they
necessary for data integrity, and/or do they compensate for NFS latency
and improve performance?
My understanding is the indexes are a critical part of a dbox storage,
but on the other hand having local indexes is a major performance
consideration. Is maildir a

First time Dovecot user, really impressed so far. What is best IMAP enabled webmail package to go with Dovecot?
Greetings everyone,
I'm new to the list as of today. I just installed Dovecot a couple of days ago
for the first time, Debian Lenny Dovecot v1.0.15-2.3. So far I'm pretty
impressed. I'm using mbox format with Dovecot auto-deciding to place mail in
user home directories, which is great. It works very well with the Win32
Thunderbird 3 client over a small basic 100FDX switched net.

What INTERNALDATE does dovecot with mbox storage set on a COPY'd message?
When a message is copied to a folder on dovecot with mbox storage, is
the mtime of the saved mbox file set to the time of the save?
Or is the mtime set to the Date: field of the source message that is
saved?
If there is a difference in the behaviour, do someone know the dovecot
version number where the change happened?
The reason I'm asking is a problem reported on the Gnus imap client in

I just installed nut in Debian and all of my files are missing. I'm
not even sure what all files are required. I hope someone can give me
the list of the files and I can create them. Also if there is any
pertinent info I need.
Thanks

possible bug with incoming mail
I've been using Dovecot for a couple months now and am very impressed.
Thanks for a great package.
However, I have noticed a problem that I haven't been able to solve.
When a new message comes into my inbox, the last message that was
received is marked as new as well as the new one.
I originally thought this was a bug in my client (mutt) but I have
verified that the same thing

Torture tests
Hi, all.
I've been so impressed with Dovecot, I'm in the process of moving my mail
over to it. In fact, one of my mailboxes got SO huge, it'll likely
literally take more than a day to move it all over (in excess of 19,000
mails, about 140 megabytes).
So far, the IMAP server shows absolutely no sign of crapping out yet.
It should also be noted that I'm moving all this mail

mbox vs. maildir storage block waste
Hi.
I recently mentioned in several posts, that I'd tended to use mbox
rather than maildir, because you don't loose so much space (due to
always allocating full blocks per maildir file and thus per mail).
I made some tests of my archive, which consists of some 3,4 million
mails at a total of 42GB). Most of these mails are probably normal
sized, but there are also some with bigger

Postfix locking equivalence?
/etc/postfix/main.cf.default:
mailbox_delivery_lock = flock, dotlock
Is flock equivalent to dovecot's fnctl locking? For mbox what type of
locking settings should I be using? (No NFS, only local filesystem.)

IMAP storage - mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir:mbox:~/mail/
I'm moving to IMAP and trying to understand all the details of where to
save email. The system is CentOS running sendmail - procmail which
delivers as:
DEFAULT=$HOME/Maildir/
I'm trying also to use Usermin as the webmail client. I can get mail to
deliver to $HOME/Maildir/ and I can get clients (thunderbird outlook
etc) to view them. However Usermin seems stuck with saving

Adding new storage backend to Dovecot
I'm exploring adding a new storage backend to dovecot, storing mail in some
sort of database, and had a few questions. Hoping someone here might be able
to help :)
-Is all of the 'storage' specific code in housed in lib-storage/index? Would
adding a new storage backend be as simple as recreating all of the public
functions of the current /mbox or /maildir code such as they pertain to

SQL as a storage backend
Hello,
I am researching using dovecot with an SQL database as the storage
backend. From what I've read, dovecot only supports mbox style file
storage, but I'd like to investigate the possibility of using a database
instead.
According to http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2006-June/013818.html,
this possibility has been explored before and has generally been
accepted that Dovecot
