Fwd: [Rpm-devel] rpm-4.4.3-0.34 for CentOS3
If anyone would like to help test the latest RPM on Centos 3, heres your chance. There are several new features that are not mentioned in Jeff's email, but as he said he wants to make sure it does no harm more than anything else. As an example though, this version supports: - runtime depedency checking (think of being able to have cpan modules that weren't installed by rpm being

problems with yum and 4.3-->4.4
Are the problems with yum in the Centos 4.3->>4.4 upgrade process due to a forked or obsolete version of yum? I briefly scanned <https://lists.dulug.duke.edu> and didn't see any problems, but did see some incidents regarding yum hangs reported about a year ago. regarding the current upgrade, Seth Vidal in

Why no RPM/SRPM for Samba v2.0.2?
Since Samba v2.0.2 was announced I've been waiting for it to show up in RedHat RPM/SRPM format. So far, it hasn't shown up on any of the Samba mirror sites. Will RPM/SRPM packages be made available for v2.0.2? Thank you. *** Steve Snyder ***

Any chance to get a working, current openldap srpm/rpm for centos 5.5
Hello, is there anyone out there, who has a current 2.4.23 srpm or good how to compile it from src with supported db4? I tried to compile recent source files, but always finding the current (installed) db4 >4.3 fails. Than I tried to compile the LTB Project Files: http://ltb-project.org/wiki/documentation/openldap-rpm May be it is just a small step or option to be set. Would be nice to get

Re: RedHat/CentOS family tree
John, Your RedHat/CentOS family tree looks great! Even people who are not trying to migrate might want to take a look. For those who have not seen it yet, it is at the bottom of John's migration page, http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/centos-2/migration.htm For a general understanding how the different versions relate to each other, that picture is worth 1,000 words, easy.

Custom kernel RPM/SRPM
Hi, I've built customs kernels from the SRPMs with the following: rpmbuild -bp --target=i686 /path/to/spec cd /usr/src ln -s /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-x.y.z/linux-x.y.z linux cd linux make oldconfig make menuconfig make all make modules make modules_install And it works just fine. The problem now is that I think installing that way isn't

Python bindings
I saw Alex Shinn's post on Perl bindings and felt the need to make Python bindings for ogg and ao. I borrowed heavily from his interface and a little bit from his code. Hope that's ok! Right now I just have ogg.vorbis and ao, but that's enough to play a file. I'll try to get the rest implemented soon. It has documentation, but it's very likely incorrect, as I'm still

Hi all, Lance got married and is a little distracted, at the moment. :) so I built sox, samba and ipsec-tools for centos. 3.3p1 on Immunix (RH) 6.2
Just compiled the SRPM for 3.3p1 on my Immunix 6.2 box (Redhat 6.2 + Stackguard compiler), fired up the server, and tried to connect to it. No joy. In the spec file I changed the following options: # Is this build for RHL 6.x? %define build6x 1 # Disable IPv6 (avoids DNS hangs on some glibc versions) %define noip6 1 This appears in the system log: Jun 24 16:11:51 johnh sshd[27774]: fatal:

I'm searching for the SRPM corresponding to this installed RPM. % yum list | grep gfs2 gfs2-kmod-debuginfo.x86_64 1.92-1.1.el5_2.2 It is missing from: http://msync.centos.org/centos-5/5/os/SRPMS/ What I need from the SRPM are the patches. I'm working through some issues using the source code, and the patches in the RedHat SRPM
