dovecot-sasl license
hi,
i talked to timo about re-licensing the sasl part of dovecot under a
more liberal license (bsd/lgpl e.g.). it would allow the integration of
it in bsd base systems. another reason i would be interested is adding
sasl support to svnserve [1].
so here is my question:
what is your oppinion about this issue?
any objections from contributors?

Wrong headers in dovecot-crlf
Hello everyone,
I'm using the very good imaptest [0] tool to test my little imap server
implementation. I've tried to use the dovecot-crlf [1] file, but it looks like
there are some major issues :
$ grep -n "In-Reply-To.*;" tests/data/dovecot-crlf

Dovecot mbox & other programs

Really? I do not think so! Having half of million (small) files in one
directory is killer... which eats caches and slow down access time.
Even listing such directory (without reading file contents) consume lot
of CPU cycles...

I've seen this plugin, but I fear that it will be enabled for all users.
I don't have seen an way to enable it only for 1 user like rawlog permits.

Resync dovecot index after manual moving mails in maildir
Hello,
i'm new to dovecot and this list. Dovecot works very well after all! I
now have a small problem, maybe there is a solution.
For automatically spam learning i've created a maildir folder called
"spam learn". Every hour spamassassin scans this folder and learn from
the mails or files at this folder. After this learn i move the files to
trash. If at this moment a client

It is which locking mechanism?
It is really ok for dovecot to:
1) append (new) emails into mbox file?
2) edit mbox file? (e.g. change some header/body)

Dovecot for production environment
Sorry if this question has been asked before I looked through some of the
archives before posting this.
I am considering using dovecot on a small 35 user environment (only around
6 gigs of email) that will be primarly be used with squirrelmail for the
MUA. I have been using dovecot for a few weeks now and really like it. It
is a big improvement over uw-imap thats for sure. I was wondering how

manipulating mails
Hi all,
sorry for my inexperience. I am still learning. I searched for a while
but found nothing useful.
I am looking for the best way to manipulate headers, bodies,
attachments, locations, folders and/or flags while using deliver and
e.g. perl.
In other words manipulating the whole mail in respect of the
requirements of the LDA, MUA and User.
I see two diffent ways.

OT: Migration from Evolution to Thunderbird (Thunderbird mbox files)
Background is that I have been using Evolution for my MUA for a number
of years. Migrated to Evolution from Mozilla Mail. I only use Evolution
for email and contacts. Getting bored with the issues (frequently not
being able to exit and needing to kill it; Bug Buddy popping up in
GNOME, etc) that Mark (MHR) and I and I'm sure others have experienced.
About 24 hours ago, I installed

authenticate authenticated users
Hi
I'm using dovecot on a LAN server. I sometimes read mail from the server
itself locally with mutt and sometimes remotely with mutt or mozilla .
I would like to avoid typing my password whenever necessary but without
writing a plain-text equivalent copy of it locally.
It feels quite silly to have to type the password locally becase the
imapd does not know that the process is indeed a

Max IMAP fodlers
Is there a way to limit the amount of maildir folders a user can have?
Also is there is hard limit on the amount of folders dovecot can handle? I have a user who has over 3000 folder (including subfolders) that is having issues with delays in loading, moving, and deleting messages.
Thanks in advance
