Rebuilding RHEL from source?
Hello,
Does anyone have instructions on how to go through the entire process from
downloading source RPM's from RedHat's servers through to building the
entire distribution?
I've searched through the web and CentOS' own web sites and couldn't find
such instructions.
Is it just a matter of downloading them from

Arguments to continue using it
Hello,
This afternoon I received the new that my institution, in the main
direction, is planning (for political reasons, I don't know which
one??) migrate to Debian.
I have a hotted conversation with my boss cause I've been working on
CentOS during near a year and half. I explained it that both distros
just implement the protocols that are standards, that could be

Red Hat CEO: Go Ahead, Copy Our Software
http://www.businessinsider.com/red-hat-ceo-go-ahead-copy-our-software-2013-8
Title says is all. Nice to know RH understands and accepts the
relationship between CentOS and RHEL.
Although it is complex. After all, if too many choose CentOS, there
may no longer be a CentOS. However, I don't think I would refer to
CentOS as a "parasite" as the author Matt Asay does. More appropriate

Not with the trademark, that is mis-appropriation.
If you want to complain about Red Hat doing this, then you'll want to
complain about a number of distributors well before

[centos-artwork] Restructuring the website homepage layout
Hey folks,
Could we have a talk about the website homepage layout?
Here is a tentative sketch I am working on for the a new website theme:

In this layout:
Are "News and Events" and "Blog Posts" redundant sections??
Does it make sense to present only extracts from

R on the Cydia Store
Hi,
I would send an introductory e-mail to:
R-foundation at R-project.org <mailto:R-foundation at R-project.org>
That will facilitate further discussion on the matter and additional details can be requested offline as may be needed.
Be aware that none of the R Foundation members are lawyers. So while we can perhaps offer informal and non-binding opinions, you should seek formal legal

What if this happens?
Does anyone have concern about this? What if Redhat stops giving SRPMS for
new releases and updates in public? If you buy a subscription to RHEL AS and
they have to give you the SRPMS because of GPL agreement can that person
provide those SRPMS to public again because of GPL? They claim they are
premium OpenSource company but they are still a company and for them money
is bottom line.

RHWAS rebuild efforts
There is a new Web Application Stack that I would like to get the RPMS
for into CentOS Plus. I am trying to get the upstream provider to the
provide these SRPMS to their public FTP server, but so far they are not
there:

These RPMS would be a major add to CentOSPlus .... as they would provide

Making a new package: licence
HI All,
I have written and succesfully uploaded a new package. The licence it is under is 'GPL' --no version. My assumption is, since all the code is written in R the licence R used for R would affect the code (hence my "GPL" stands for "whatever version of the GPL R is under")
I am happy with the licencing I used, but I'd like to ask if there is any transitive

Diff files to be made publicly available.
I plan to highlight the differences
between RHEL and CentOS 3.1.
Making this information clearly available
without the need for duplicated effort across the world.
This will help others take CentOS in
different directions benefiting us all.
It will help individuals create new projects
more easily and efficiently.
Are the diff files readily available,
can I download them from anywhere?

nicecast licence
hi,
I wonder if anyone can tell me how the Nicecast licensing works.
http://www.rogueamoeba.com/nicecast/
Nicecast, as it seems to me, uses Icecast as an internal server. They list
Icecast in their sources dir:
http://www.rogueamoeba.com/sources
In their manual they also credit Xiph with the statement:
"Portions of this Rogue Amoeba software may utilize the following

Documentation Licence question.
i can't find licence information for the following files:
http://hostopia.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba3-HOWTO.pdf
http://hostopia.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba3-ByExample.pdf
As you see, they are two basic samba information sources, and I need
to know if I can just print it and leave in computer lab for all who
wish to avoid reading it from monitor.
It is about 1300 pages total, so I need to make
