List of updates in Update 3 ?
While update 3 was released last week, it looks
like there are 40 or so packages updated. I dunno
about squid, it is listed on
http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rhel4as-errata.html
but the changelog is from October 2005 (unless it is an rhel only
bug).

RHEL 4 U2 / OCFS 1.2.1 weekly crash?
Hello,
I have two nodes running the 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp kernel and the OCFS2
1.2.1 RPMs. About once a week, one of the nodes crashes itself (self-
fencing) and I get a full vmcore on my netdump server. The netdump log
file shows the shared filesystem LUN (/dev/dm-6) did not respond within
12000ms. I have not changed the default heartbeat values
in /etc/sysconfig/o2cb. There was no other IO

what's the right way to ask help for unsupported kernel
hi,
as i already wrote mail to this list after we upgrade from centos-3 to
centos-4 with kernel-unsupported we has a once a week kernel crash.
we're not able to manage to find the real reason, but we've got this
once a week and it's a very big problem. we need novel fs support so we
can't use the standard kernel. i can't report it redhat because they
refuse to look into it

Building rpms
I have been asked to update OpenLDAP to the latest stable version. I am
using CentOS 4.2 and have OpenLDAP 2.2.13 installed. I can install from
source if I have to, but I would rather stay with rpm packages if possible.
I found an rpm from Fedora Core Development on RPMFIND. Will this one work
with Centos, or should I grab the source rpm and rebuild it?

Source RPM please
Hi,
I''m a long ext3 user (rpmfind.net). I propagated ext3 on some of our
server box (W3C webservers are ext3 based too now).
I might be tempted of testing out your kernel RPMs but unavailability
or the source RPM and the SMP version are definite showstoppers. Please
provide them. In the meantime I will stick to my own set of kernel ext3
RPMs at ftp://rpmfind.net/pub/veillard/ext3/

Yum packages error.
Dear group,
Last night I was playing around with my home desktop trying to get the sound to work and somehow I broke some dependencies, now yum update would not run. Can someone help me troubleshoot this. This is the output I am getting from yum update. Thank you in advance.

how to install ash on CentOS 5.4?
Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to install ash on CentOS 5.4, or
just CentOS 5, for that matter? I'm trying to install OpenQRM which
requires ash, but ash doesn't exist in the repositories. rpmfind.net
als only has an older version listed, for CentOS 4

OT: Local Mirror problems, wrong paths to RPMs with yum update
This week I set up a local mirror for a few dists, including Centos 4.0
and 4.2, and Fedora Core 3 and 4. I'm using a script called yum-pull.
For the most part I really like the script, it automates the setup of
your mirrors and tries a bunch of different mirrors when it goes out to
get updates, if it fails on one it tries another. It uses the usual
suspects, createrepo and repoview, among

x86_64 reproducible server PANIC with latest kernel
Our Tyan VX50 server, which is otherwise stable, can be crashed by a
specific user who starts a Java application.
Relevant facts are:
x86_64 CentOS 4.3 fully updated (but otherwise default config)
8 Dual-Core Opteron 870 (2 GHz), giving 16 cores
32 GB memory (running at DDR333)
The panic is reproducible within a couple of minutes.
I tried the 2.6.9-42 largesmp kernel from J.Baron's website

Re: asterisk rpms (was: Does anyone run Asterisk on FC4? with Digium's TDM40B cards)
Morning,
I've installed asterisk on FC4 and had a few problems with zaptel stuff.
Having installed it on SuSE I was able to check a few things that were
different.
When installed with the RPMS, the udev stuff gets put into the normal 50-udev
file under /etc/udev. On SuSE, it worked when the necessary zaptel section
was in a separate file name 55-zaptel.udev (the name is arbitrary,

R 1.4 on Mandrake Linux 8.1
I installed the new rpm from CRAN for R 1.4 for Mandrake Linux 8.1, after getting blas and libgcc from rpmfind.net. When I do update.packages() the system goes to update grid, lattice, and mgcv. I get compile errors for two of them. Apparently R is looking for gcc 3.0.1 or later but 8.1 uses 2.9x which is required for other Mandrake applications (i.e., I get a dependency error when trying to

Normalizing WAV files
Hey all, I've been googling trying to find a tool that I can use to
normalize a directory full of WAV files. I found a reference to
normalize in the atrpms repo but it wants to clobber several of the base
rpms.
Does anyone know of a tool in CentOS 6 that can normalize a directory
full of WAV files that I can install without hosing up my system?

Building Dovecot CentOS 5 RPMs with custom LDAP packages
Hi,
We are (still) mainly using CentOS 5 (5.8 x86_64). As CentOS / EL 5
standard OpenLDAP packages are rather old (2.3.x), we've been using LTB
OpenLDAP packages ( http://ltb-project.org/wiki/download#openldap),
which get installed in non-standard file system locations.
I am not much experienced in building RPMs and preparing spec files. We
are currently using dovecot RPM packages from

4.4 update quits unexpectedly
After 2 good updates to 4.4, my 3rd is giving me trouble. I did all 3
installs the same:
yum clean all
yum update python-sqlite sqlite yum
yum clean all
yum upgrade
This one, however, quits during the header download. I get "[Errno -1]
Header not complete, trying another mirror", then "[Errno 256] No more
mirrors to try".

hostapd or other AP software for Centos
Is there a recent rpm available for hostapd?
I found 0.6.0 over at atrpms.net via rpmfind. Actually a more recent
ver than available for FC8,9, or 10! But
http://hostap.epitest.fi/hostapd/ shows the current version is 0.6.7.
And does anyone have this running on Centos?
Is there a 'better' AP software? I have the Atheros card in my notebook
for this....

R Install problems with Redhat 9 : "tcl.so" versus "tcl.so.0"
Hi,
I'm having problems with a R Redhat Linux install. Please bear with me,
I've only been working with Linux for about a week here.
I have Redhat Linux 9 running on a recent Pentium machine. Here's the
install, showing I'm running kernel release 2.4.20-6.
