OT: General Help in chroot build environment
I am trying to compile a module for a Realtek 8168 for thinstation.
I have pulled the developer tarball and executed the script to enter its build environment.
I also have the source for the module I want to compile, but when I execute #make clean modules
it errors out. Reading the errors, I can see it tried to look for the kernel source of the systems actual
running kernel. From within the chroot

Kernel question(s): I/O handling
I have been chasing down the way the inode and page caches are
structured and handled, but there is a mystery I have not been able to
track down yet. How does the I/O queue that dirty inodes and pages are
put into when it's time to flush them out to disk get picked up? Also,
where are the sources for the I/O schedulers? I haven't been able to
locate them yet either.
I know this

[PATCH] Fix configure script to allow split build/source directories
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi all -
The SUSE kernel module packages allow you to generate RPMs for all
installed kernels with one run of rpmbuild. This involves the use
of one shared source tree at /usr/src/linux and a group of build
trees rooted at /usr/src/linux-obj. The build trees contain the bare
minimum needed for a kernel tree to be considered "configured."

proxyarp <--> OpenSwan VPN/Internet
Our VPN runs for 3 months very well with a minimum of traffic <100 kbit/s.
Only DNS Zones and nagios passive checks were transferred. Everything seems
to work.
Left side is x.x.x.14 (host 1)
Subnet 10.0.0.0/24
openswan 2.4.4
shorewall 2.4.2 & iptables 1.3.4
gentoo 2.6.12-r9 with policy match
It´s reachable through a proxyarp entry on x.x.x.11 (host 2) which is
another gentoo 2.6.12-r9

CentOS 3 and openswan > 2.2.1
Hi,
is there anybody running centos3 (el3) with a standard kernel 2.4.32 or
newer, because it seems openswan versions > 2.21 don''t run with
centos3(el3) anymore.
But we need the newer openswan versions.
Problem arise when I try to build the ipsec.o module:
/usr/src/openswan-2.4.4/linux/net/ipsec/ipsec_init.c
/usr/src/openswan-2.4.4/linux/net/ipsec/ipsec_init.c: In function

Openswan and IPtables
Hello,
we have installed a xen with SuSE 10.1 with no problems so far.
Everything works as expected,.... but....
When we make VPN connections via IPSEC / Openswan,
then the filter rules of the iptables just drop any traffic from/to vpn
tunnels
toward DOM0.
We need access to DOM0 via VPN/SSH to manage the system.
Is there a known problem with this ?
We use the kernel included in SuSE 10.1
