CRAN and R v2.2.1 for Windows
Thanks for the new updates in v2.2.1.
I just noticed a few "problems" on
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/.
1) The CHANGES and NEWS files for v2.2.1 does not include info on v2.2.1
but only details up until v2.2.0, cf.
http://cran.r-project.org/src/base/NEWS
2) The patched version is now denoted "beta" (files and installation
directory), which I believe is

i'm trying to use the ssh command's -f option with OpenSSH v2.1.1p4 on
linux (RedHat v6.2). this option doesn't seem to be working properly on my
system - the specified is run succesfully but it isn't put to the
background. is this a known problem?
also, OpenSSH doesn't seem to interoperate with SSH Communications

Samba4 Internal DNS - CNAME not working
Hello,
It seems Samba4 is having problems with CNAME records. I am seeing the same
behavior as mentioned in the thread below. Is there any ETA on a fix for
this? This is identical to the problem with MX records. This is currently a
much bigger problem than the MX records. I appreciate any assistance.

MinGW and the ld bug
Hi.
I noticed that Brian Ripley found and corrected a bug in MinGW's
ld.exe, see http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/. Thanks for
this. I wonder if this is the same bug that cause my problems. I
have tiny toy package with C code that installs perfectly on R Version
2.2.1 beta (2005-12-18 r36792) [this version was mislabelled "beta"

Asterisk on AVR32
Greetings everyone,
I'm trying to compile asterisk for an AVR32 (Atmel NGW100).
Buildroot for AVR32 already has the asterisk package, though it has
bugs. Firstly it tries to apply a patch for 1.2 on a 1.6, but deleting
the contents of the patch file did the trick.
Now, the problem is making asterisk. The first error is because asterisk
needed to be ./configure:ed.

Bug Openssh v2.3.0
Hello together,
we have very often a problem using OpenSSH v2.3.0 on Solaris 2.6.
The daemon hangs up and it is not possible to login in. The -v option
for ssh displays the following:
# ssh -v zvadm1
SSH Version OpenSSH_2.3.0p1, protocol versions 1.5/2.0.
Compiled with SSL (0x0090600f).

dovecot v2.3.0: imap segfault when sieve_extprograms_plugin.so called
That's the point,
the fix was committed afterwards...

So, any 0.5.1 release on the horizon?

Samba share of a NFS mount
I've got a NFS directory that's shared among my RHEL5 servers that I'd like
to give access to a couple of Win2K servers, also. The easiest way to do so
is to NFS mount the directory on my Samba server, and export the directory
as a Samba share.
It works. Kind of. But it redefines 'slow'.
Copying the file from a normal Samba share takes under 10 seconds on a slow
network:

Account not authorized to log in
I've been running Samba 2.0.3 on my dg/ux box for more than a year, without
any problems. Last week, I upgraded to Win2000 Professional, and ever since
have been getting the dreaded 'Account not authorized to log in from this
station' when I double-click on the machine's icon in 'My Network Places'.
Normally, I've seen this as a password encryption problem - but I get

repeat { readline() }
Hi.
Using Rterm v2.2.1 on WinXP, is there a way to interrupt a call like
repeat { readline() }
without killing the Command window? Ctrl+C is not interrupting the loop:
