assert_equal - problems returning value from controller
Hi, I have the following assert_equal that is returning false. @q seems to be returning niil, but is set in the controller, how can I get hold of this value in my tests? assert_equal ''derby'', @q Thanks Mark -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups

Question re assert_equal
In Agile Web Development with Rails, the following statement is given: assert_equal "has already been taken", product.errors[:title].join(''; '') My question is: Why is the join(...) needed and what exactly does it do here? If it does what I assume, join an array of strings and use "; " as the separator, then I wonder how the assert_equal statement could ever

running passenger + nginx
hi guys, Assuming I made some changes to the source code. My production environment runs on passenger and nginx. How do I restart passenger and nginx with minimal downtime? Surely I can''t do a "w" on the terminal because a server will not always be in zero load. Would love to hear some recommendations. PS- I have read on unicorn

I''m not sure if someone has already addressed this issue, but if not, here goes. I need the following behavior: def test_generate(documentation = ''/test_documentation/'', destination = ''/destination/'') yield_results = [''/'', ''filename.yaml'', ''blah.xml'']

Can't seem to install RMAGICK on Ubuntu Karmic Koala

allow stubbing of previously defined methods such as "id"

Test Unit Problem
Hello All, I am experiencing the following test unit error working with Rails that I can''t fathom. I have a products.yml file which holds the following test fixture for the products table: dell_pc: id: 1 title: Dell PC description: Dell PC image_url: http://.../pc_image.jpg price: 15000.00 date_available: 2005-12-31 06:53:00 I also have the following product_test.rb file to

AJAX - how to have multiple select form sets implemented?
hi, there :) Consider a blogging application whereby a user is trying to add a new blog. He/she has to select a category. Upon selecting a category from a drop down box, a new sub categories drop down box will be created (hence an AJAX call). Got this implemented and it''s ok. Now, let''s assume that a given blog can have multiple categories (and subcategories). For example, a

multiyield
I lied, I don''t actually need different responses each time I call the method. So the last email of mine is probably worthless. Instead, I need yield to yield 3 values when I call it once: (behavior that mimics Find.find) def test_generate(documentation = ''/test_documentation/'', destination = ''/destination/'')

Recommendations for pdf generators
hi, everyone, i have googled around for some pdf generators. Found 1) PDF::Writer which is a little dated 2) Rupdf (http://scoop.simplyexcited.co.uk//2007/12/15/rupdf-simple- ruby-pdf-rails-plugin/ and http://agilewebdevelopment.com/plugins/rupdf) - it''s a little dated. Scoping expectations and more ...
Hello! I''m new to Mocha and through experimentation I found out something that is not explicitly stated in the documentation: If you need to mock the same function call with different parameters and results, you can set the scope of expectations with a begin ... end block. I also made up an example on how to expect more than one function call with different parameters and return values.

Ajax fails in IE8
hi guys, I am testing a new optional funtionality in my site with IE 8 after success with Firefox 3.6.3, chrome and safari. The new functionality basically sees a "sub category" drop down list get generated in my form as soon as a "Category" value is selected from the "Category" drop down list. I have been using the standard rails api such as observe_field, and

Problem stubbing instances referred to by constants
Hi James, An instance retains its mocha between tests if that instance is pointed to by a constant. The simplest failing test is something like (add as a new file in mocha/test).. #--code-- require File.join(File.dirname(__FILE__), "test_helper") require ''stubba'' class WemStubbaTest < Test::Unit::TestCase Arr = [1, 2, 3] def test_a

I''m misunderstanding how stubs works
We''re still just starting out with Mocha/Stubba, so please forgive any newbie errors. I''m using "stubs" to test some realtime functions, to control exactly which time is returned from Time.now. I would expect the following test to pass: def test_two_stubs t = Time.now - 60 Time.stubs(:now).returns(t) start_time = Time.now t += 20

Hello All, I have a doubt regarding the fault tolerance of the rsync tool. What happens if the network goes down for some time and comes back after few seconds? Will rsync retry ? If yes, how many times/ how much time it will keep retrying ? How to ensure the completion of the rsync operation when there are network break ups? thanks for any help. -- Regards, Ravi.Thati -------------- next

Any plans for Before-feature or Before-all steps in Cucumber?
Hi The code I''m working on now is a server daemon that talks to Twitter, an RSS feed, and some web pages. I''ve got mock implementations of Twitter and the web stuff, which I start and stop with daemon_controller[1]. I do all the setup in a Before block, but this makes the feature runs agonisingly slow due to the time waiting for everything to restart. I''m
