fcgi,lighty mysql database problem
I''ve been trying to get fast cgi working for nearly a month now. Yes,
an entire month! The application starts perfect, but it will die
randomly after several hours. I have traced the problem back
to /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mysql.rb:1042:in `flush'' This happens when the app
trys to query the database driver to see if it still has a connnection.
This causes the app to crash. Here is

How does Samba handle unexpected disconnects?
Greetings,
I have been looking for infomation on how Samba handle rude
disconnects. Here is the test....
#1 - Login to Samba hosted Domain
#2 - Turn off the computer; Turn the computer back on
#3 - goto to step #1 and repeat
Now at some point my login should fail...right?
If I try the above steps, after the 5-6th power off I get 'XXXX'

long connect delay over vpn+firewall
I am connecting to smbd over a vpn connnection. After tunnelled traffic
comes out of the vpn it hits firewall rules. Per
<http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/securing-samba.html#firewallports>
I am allowing
135/TCP
137/UDP
138/UDP
139/TCP
445/TCP
through the firewall. With this configuration, mounting an smb share
from win XP home SP2 takes 2 or 2.5

Does rsync support resuming feature?
Hi All,
Does rsync support resuming feature?
Now, this is the case, when we back a 4GB file, for example.
I have backed up for about 2GB in progress, and we found this is a connnection problem to Internet, so we simply re-plug the net-cable and do rsynce again.
Currently, I found rsync have to re-transfer the 4GB file again.
Is there any way out of the problem or simply an option will do?

LANG=en_US, Xlib: connnection errors
This is odd but I'm trying to get the most elementary sides of WINE down. I
have gotten it to attempt to run write.exe out of my windows directory. but
upon doing so it comes up with the LANG errors which I don't think is
catastrophic. (I might be wrong) and then it comes up with these errors:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT_MAGIC_COOKIE-1 key

OT: Setting a CentOS to gateway a private IP address
This is mildly off topic since it has more to do with TCP/IP networking
than with CentOS per se. However, at the risk of ruffling a few feathers
I would like some advice on how to resolve the following routing problem:
Given:
dual homed host running CentOS-5.2 with
eth0 = 2xx.yyy.zzz.23
eth1 = 192.168.219.1
and a Cisco gateway at 2xx.1xx.y7y.1 with the following networks:

help to speed up loops in r
Hi
i am using a script which involves the following loop. It attempts to reduce a data frame(zz) of 95000 * 41 down to a data frame (averagedreplicates) of 95000 * 21 by averaging the replicate values as you can see in the script below. This script however is very slow (2days). Any suggestions to speed it up.
NB I have also tried using rowMeans rather than adding the 2 values and dividing by 2.

Connections rejected in DUNDi requests
Greetings list,
Wondering if anyone's come across this before.
I've configured a couple of our servers with a "privatedundi" context to allow calls to still flow between extensions even if they're registered to different servers . The DUNDi lookups seem to work fine, evidenced by the following on the originating server:

strange dial problem with polycom 501
I am having a strange problem with polycom 501 and dailing. I've read the
archives and no one there specifically mentions this problem, so I thought I'd
ask here.
The problem is that when the user picks up the receiver or pressed new call,
sometimes they will enter a number (for example 95072091234) and in the middle
of the number the cursor might jump back one digit. So the call above,

samba 3.0.24 works - samba 3.0.25 fails
Folks:
I've got several systems attached to a 2003 domain where we use
kerberos to authenticate.
When I upgraded a system to the latest greatest samba things stopped
working. Just to find where it happened in the different versions of
samba I downloaded, built, & ran 3.0.23d to 3.0.25c using the same
smb.conf file. Turns out the 2.0.23d and 3.0.24 works but from 3.0.25
on it fails.

BLF call pickup on Linksys SPA932
Greetings list,
We recently installed some Linksys SPA962 + SPA932 sidecars into a client's offices. The BLF functionality works fine, but call pickup using the BLF is something of an issue.
Following the advice on voip-info.org, I configured part of their dialplan as follows:
exten => _**2XX,1,Pickup(SIP/${EXTEN:2})
exten => _**2XX,n,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN:2},15,tw)
