Hi, yum-2.4 and required dependancies for CentOS-3 are now available for i386 and x86_64 in the centosplus repository. The default version still is 2.0, nothing changes for those who don't want/need the new features (for example: fastestmirror, priorities and protectbase). I've been trying out the protectbase plugin for yum, and haven't yet determined the best way to selectively update a package. E.g. I'd like to mark the base repo as protected, but get the latest firefox from the centosplus repo. What's the correct incantation for this?

I think Jim (the other one) is doing a marvellous job with extras and plus but he needs to expand the size of his tent. A sensible package policy in extras/plus repo will mean fewer temptations to install 3rd party repo's that can break your system. While trying to get my SD card reader to work with CentOS, it was recommended to me that I update to the centosplus kernel.
