What does js partial(...) do?
In the example application named "sample_app", comment.jerb contains the following line: $(''comments'').update(<%=js partial(:comments) %>); What does the ''js'' method do to/with, if anything at all, ''partial(:comments)''? Merb is quite fun to use and I''m starting to get a feel for it and ruby. I''m surprised at

rendering js
Hi all, Just been working on a new app and I''ve hit a problem. I am trying to render some js back to the page and have tried the following: render_js render :js => true render :js => "alert(''test'');" And I always seem to get my js returned as text. I have also added in: provides :js I''m sure this is very simple but any pointers would be most

Merb and Javascript template system
I''ve tryed to use the same logic in html layouts to handle javascript files without success. All I need is not repeat javascript code in various erb templates that have 90% of identical code. - I can''t use more than 1 js file. - If isn''t a way to do this like erb can do in html, what''s the best way to "include" a file in another using Merb? -- from

merb 0.4.0 session issue
Not sure if anyone else has had this problem. I was running on merb edge fine a few days ago. Last night I went to merb 0.4.0 via gem install and now any call to session[:foo] causes an error >> undefined method ''[]'' for nil:NilClass I have uninstalled and reinstalled merb with no luck. dependencies.rb use_orm :activerecord merb.yml :session_store: active_record Gems

Can''t get upload progress bar working
Hi, Apologies if this has been asked and answered previously. I just started looking at Merb today as I''d like to use it as an upload server, especially the upload progress feature. I''ve installed the latest Merb gem (0.4.2) and created a new application to test out uploading. I took elements of the mr_blog application and integrated them into it. I realise this

templates with same name before extension are cached
Hi all, I was just wondering if this is the intended behavior. Here is my setup: controller def index respond_to do |f| f.xml { render :xml => true } f.html { render :layout => :none } end end In my views I have a file for each type index.herb index.xerb The first request I send is cached and interferes with the other one. For example, if I send an xml request

Upload Progress (mup.js) typo
I was using the sample_app and found out that the progress bar wasn''t changing color. It was updating the percentage but wasn''t updating the width of the status bar style... I found that the mup.js was missing and appended "px" So here it is: my first ever Merb patch! http://pastie.caboo.se/28450 cheers, -rjs- (the_mug) Blog: http://www.rosamour.com --------------

Status of Merb on JRuby
I''ve submitted a few patches on Trac to help get Merb running under JRuby [0][1][2][3][4]. It''d be cool if any of you committers could find the time to look them over and apply/reject them. They''re mostly tiny, so it shouldn''t be too onerous. With all of these patches applied, there are still 3 spec failures. One is in the spec ''a merb mailer

Making failing view specs easier to troubleshoot
I just had a problem that had me stumped for an hour. All of a sudden all of my view specs were failing, and I couldn''t get good troubleshooting information from the rspec output. The output from running `rake specs` was a bunch of HTML from app/views/exceptions/internal_server_error.html.erb, but there wasn''t enough info there to diagnose my problem. It just said

render :update do |page|
I was wondering if anyone knew how to do the rails equivalent of render :update do |page| It looked like maybe render_inline would do. If that''s it - does anyone have an example? Has anyone ported the scriptaculous helpers to a merb plugin yet? Also - is there anyway to search the mailing list archives? Sorry for the newb questions. Looks like a great framework though! -ben

Non-Erubis Templates
Trunk Issue: Because of the use of ''autoload'', template handlers other than Erubis are not loaded automatically (Haml, XMLBuilder). Either this should be fixed, or the documentation should be updated to instruct people how to use non-Erb template engines. Apparently the solution is to do something like this in merb_init.rb: ::Merb::AbstractController.register_engine
