Histogram
Dear all,
I have a surprising problem with the representation of frequencies in a
histogram.
Consider, for example, the R code:
b<-rnorm(2000,3.5,0.3)
hist(b,freq=F)
When I plotted the histogram, I expected that values in the y-axis (the
probability) varied between 0 and 1. Instead, they varied within the
range 0-1.3.
Have you got any suggestion for obtaining a correct graph with

help in histogram
x<- sample(1:14, 319, rep=T)
hist(x, freq=F, xlab='',ylab="Percent of Total", col="skyblue",
labels=TRUE, right=FALSE,main="Position of Hypothetical Protein")
Is there is way to round the labels to 2 decimal digits, for example, 0.088
is changed to 0.09.
Thanks!

histogram
With R and the hist function, is there a way to make a histogram in which
the y axis denotes propotion with respect to a separate sample dataset of
the same range instead of frequency?

overlap histogram and density
Hi,
Does anybody encounter the same problem when we overlap histogram and density
that the density line seem to shift to the right a little bit?
If you do have the same problem, what should we do to correct that?
Thank you.

Need to compute density as done by panel.histogram
Hi,
This might be a simple problem but I don't know how to calculate a random
variable density the way panel.histogram does it before it creates the
actual density rectangles. The documentation says that it uses the density
function but the actual code suggests that the hist.constructor function
(which does not seem to be easily accessible).
Any suggestion for computing the density values of

how to plot the histogram and the curve in the same graph
i want to plot the histogram and the curve in the same graph.if i have a set
of data ,i plot the histogram and also want to see what distribution it
was.So i want to plot the curve to know what distribution it like.

converting histogram to barchart
Hi list,
After a lot of tweaking i have managed to create a histogram with an
overlaying density plot. The histogram shows a sample of birth weights
of babies and the density plot shows birth weights from a much larger
reference populaton. My data is divided in 0.1 Kg bins so in the code
below binweigh=0.1.
The trouble with the current graph is that it is not very clear since

How to plot Histogram with frequence overlaid by distribution curve
Hi,
I am facing the problem that I want to plot a histogram chart set

Superimposing Line over Histogram in Density Plot
Hi,
Currently I have a density plot generated with this
snippet.
Is there a way I can add a line curve on top of it?
I mean in one figure

col="blue",
main = "Density Plot",
xlab = "Exp Level",
)

trying to superimpose a line plot onto a histogram
Hello,
I'm trying to superimpose a line plot onto a histogram but I'm not having

them onto the histogram:

A question on histogram - area much less than 1
Hello,
I have problem running the histogram function "hist". The area under the
histogram is much lower than 1. Could anyone tell me what the problem is?
Thanks,

Hello,
To indicate probability densities instead of counts on a histogram, I
specify freq = FALSE.
However, I expect that summing all top y coordinates over all the

Question about histogram
Dear list,
I'm new to R, please bear with my silly questions. I'm trying to get an
understanding of why the results I get from a call to hist() are not as
I thought I would get. When I use the parameter freq=FALSE, I think the
plot will contain bars that none of them is larger than 1, because
they're probabilities. But for my code, the bars exceeded 1.
The actual data seems

Using logarithmic y-axis (density) in a histogram
Hi,
I am searching for a possibility to display a logarithimic y-axis in a histogram. With plot that's easy (e.g.
plot(1:10, log="y")
but for histograms this does not work the same way: I tried
hist(rnorm(1000), freq=FALSE, seq(-4, 4, .5), ylim=c(0.001, 0.5), log="y")
Which gives the expected histogram but also warnings for my log="y" command

Plotting frequency curve over histogram
Hello,
This is a problem for which there seem to be several solutions online, but
not really. My question was about plotting a curve over the histogram. All
the previous posts and messages talk about generating a *density
histogram*using (freq=F) and then plotting the density curve. However,
I find that
that seriously distorts my data and the plot becomes confounding to the
viewer.
