Linux apps from inside Wine (was:Re: Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524)
Hi Shadi, I'm also using notes 5.0.12 and I've posted at May,05-2005 a message just talking about how to start Linux apps from a Windows app over/under Wine. The only problem is that I'm not using wine-20050524 ... 8-(. Instead I'm using 20040813. Follows the message. Feel free to ask me more questions and if you want I can send to you another types of scripts.

Linux apps from inside Wine (was:Re: Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524)
Hi Andreas, I saw someone (Mike or Joachim, I think) at the list saying you have to shutdown the wineserver. It will overwrite the system.reg as soon it goes down. So before you make the changes be sure there is none wine* process running. Hope this helps. If not, write us again and we'll help you (sometime ago I run into the same problem but I can't remember the

Epiphany?
Is there an official epiphany rpm for RHEL4/Centos4? I know that in the release announcements for RHEL4 beta2 epiphany 1.4 was specifically mentioned as included. But epiphany seems not to be in any of the standard repos or in dag. Thanks, Steve

pdf page limit?
Is there a limit on the number of pages that can be in a pdf file? I am using pdf() (on R version 1.4.1, running on Red Hat 7.1 on an Intel box) to create a large (> 300 pages) file of diagnostic plots. If I plot every figure I want to include (364 pages, according to Acroread ver. 5.0.5), neither xpdf on Linux nor Acroread ver 5.0.5 on Win98 can render the file. xpdf give the error message:

Printing problems with Firefox
I have been having problems printing web pages with Firefox under CentOS 4.8: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.14) Gecko/2009091009 CentOS/3.0.14-1.el4.centos Firefox/3.0.14 What happens is that some of the text is 'scrambled' (looks like somehow something is messed up with the font encoding of whatever font is being used). Sometimes the postscript (or PDF) code being

CentOS6.6 installation failure
> I would say to eliminate issues, the first thing to make sure is that > your mailcap package is, indeed, good. Summary: it's a good package, but the wrong package for the location. I downloaded the package from a different mirror, and the install proceeds past it. However, now it stops at redhat-logos, with the same error An interesting observation: I now have several copies of

PDF and PS output
I'm using R 2.0 on Redhat Linux 9. When I try to produce PDF or PS output, the files are corrupted -- they won't open in Acroread, xpdf, ggv, and on attempting to convert to PNG, I get message "This file has corrupted %%EOF marker." Perhaps I am just doing something wrong. I did: > pdf() > hist(unlist(foo.bar)) I have no trouble viewing the output in Xwindows. Thanks,

PDF viewer?
Hi, I'm looking for a usable PDF viewer with CentOS 4.3. On my previous install (Slack running XFCE with a handful of GNOME libs), I used Evince, which is just great. Looks like this is an Achilles' heel in CentOS, as I tested three available PDF viewers (ggv, gsview, acroread) with various PDF documents downloaded from the internet (which all display perfectly with Evince): either the

acrobat reader for x86_64?
Adobe doesn't seem to have acroread for x86_64 linux, or at least I don't see it anywhere. Anybody know otherwise? Evince and other tools work pretty well, but I have always liked having the "real thing" around for those occasions when they don't. -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us ----------------------------- I can do all

CentOS6.6 installation failure
I have been installing CentOS for years using PXE, kickstart and NFS, but the procedure fails with CentOS 6.6 for some reason. A PXE-initiated, manual install goes through all the setup steps, and once rpm installation has started, it dies after a few packages: anaconda 13.21.229 exception report Traceback (most recent call first): File "/usr/lib/anaconda/yuminstall.py", line 1006,

Wrong symbol rendering in plots (Ubuntu)
Hi I am having problems with the rendering of scientific symbols (mu and degree) in my plots. Whenever I use these symbols they are rendered changed (mu is changed to the proportionality symbol and degree is changed to something resembling a gamma) in the X-device. If I make a pdf of the plot and open the file in Evince or Okular symbols are also rendered wrong, however if I open the file

gluster permissions problem
Hi, I'm running a very simple gluster server, as a NFSv4 replacement. I documented this here: http://www.mail-archive.com/users at lists.fedoraproject.org/msg40298.html User home folders are served over this file server. This worked fine in Fedora 15, but I am experiencing some odd permissions problems with Adobe Acrobat after upgrading the server to Fedora 16. I've seen it with some

Acroread9 crash in CentOS7
Hello, I'm getting a crash with acroread on my CentOS7 (AdobeReader_enu-9.5.5-1.i486). I install the official rpms from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/, tried 9.5.5, and former v9, v8, v7. /usr/bin/acroread loads well, but when you click a menu, bang. Same if you start acroread w/ a .pdf filename in parameter, the window opens up then crashes. I modified the acroread script to

acroread security problem
Dear all, I think there's a security problem with the acroread plugin for firefox. I'm using sysutils/pwsafe to manage my passwords. A feature of this tool is that it can copy the requested password to the X clipboard, allowing the user to paste it (eg. in a password box), never seeing the pass in clear. When I load a PDF document in Firefox, the acroread process lives on even after the
