I am using pdf() (on R version 1.4.1, running on Red Hat 7.1 on an Intel box) to create a large (> 300 pages) file of diagnostic plots. If I plot every figure I want to include (364 pages, according to Acroread ver. 5.0.5), neither xpdf on Linux nor Acroread ver 5.0.5 on Win98 can render the file. xpdf give the error message:
