R: numerical integration problems
hello all happy new year and hope you r having a good holiday. i would like to calculate the expectation of a particular random variable and would like to approximate it using a number of the functions contained in R. decided to do some experimentation on a trivial example. example ======== suppose x(i)~N(0,s2) where s2 = the variance the prior for s2 = p(s2)~IG(a,b) so the posterior is

generate multivariate F with specified correlation matrix
Dear all, In MATLAB, to generate multivariate F with specified correlation matrix Pn I can use the code such as Z = mvnrnd([0 0 0 0 0], Pn, N); U = normcdf(Z,0,1); X = [finv(U(:,1),5,15) finv(U(:,2),5,15) finv(U(:,3),5,15) finv(U(:,4),5,15) finv(U(:,5),5,15)]; Is there something similar in R? Thank you for your time.

inverse F distribution in R?
Dear all, I'm looking for a function that calls the inverse F-distribution. Something equivalent to FINV in matlab or excel. Does anyone know if such a function already exists for R? (I haven't been able to find one.) Thanks for any leads. Best, Jennifer

CDFs
Hello all, I have two columns of numbers. I would like to do the following: (1) Plot both cdfs, F1 and F2 on the same graph. (2) Find smoothed approximations of F1 and F2 lets call them F1hat and F2hat (3) Find values for F1hat when we substitue a value of x in it. (4) Find the corresponding densities of the cdfs. Any ideas? -- Thanks, Jim. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Fwd: Re: Seeking help with trellis: log scales on xyplot
Deepayan: Sorry for the additional email, but I'm concerned that I wasn't being clear. In the end, I would like a graphic that portrays my y-values on a log scale in their native data range. That is to say, I would prefer to see the axis labels as 1000 rather than 3 (log10 of 1000). Thank you for your kind assistance, Hobie Perry St. Paul, MN Hobie Perry <hobie_perry@yahoo.com>

Two lines, two scales, one graph
First of all, thanks to everyone who answers these questions - it's most helpful. I'm new to R and despite searching have not found an example of what I want to do (there are some good beginner's guides and a lot of complex plots, but I haven't found this). I would like to plot two variables against the same abscissa values. They have different scales. I've found how to make

Bayesian constrained regression method?
Hello everyone, I am trying to estimate the parameter b. I have Y and X1 which I know and they are both random. However, I also have X2 which I don't know and is also random. I want to estimat b from the model: Y = b*X1 + ( 1 - b ) * X2 Can anyone offer some suggestions. The values of Y and X1 are both pvalues so they are constrained in (0,1). -- Thanks, Jim. Hello everyone, I have a 2 x 5 matrix: say 0.2 0.3 1 -1 3 0.2. 0.4 5 0.5 -1 I want to replace all the values greater than or equal to 1 with 1 and those less than or equal to 0 with 0. Using PrettyR to produce LaTeX output
Hello everyone. I am new to R, so please bear with me. I am trying to find an easy way to export descriptive statistics and other information about my data frame to a LaTeX format.
