barplot, different color for shading lines and bar
Dear all, might there be a modified barplot function out there which allows the user to specify a fill color for the bars and independent parameters for the overlaid shading lines ? Currently, when I specify density and col, the fill color for the bars is white. Thanks! Markus [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Alignment of lines within barplot bars
Dear all, I have a barplot upon which I hope to superimpose horizontal lines extending across the width of each bar. I am able to partly achieve this through the following set of commands: positions <- barplot(bar_values, col="grey") par(new=TRUE) plot(positions, horiz_values, col="red", pch="_", ylim=c(min(bar_values), max(bar_values))) ...however this results

Possible to write text inside a bar of a barplot?
How can I write text inside a bar of a barplot? I tried using text(), but I am only able to specify the numeric y-coordinate. The different columns of my barplot correspond to factors and not numbers, so I don't know how to access the horizontal positions of the bars. I tried fiddling with different values of the "adj" argument, but this appears unreliable. Background: I have

two questions about PLOT
here ,I want to plot two lines in one figure. But I have two problems 1) how to move one of the y-axis to be the right ? I tried to the command"axis(2)",But I failed. 2) how to add the axis information correctly.Since I have use the cmommand "axis(1,at=1:6,labels=gradeinfo$gradenam)" but it seems that the correct information that I want is superposition with the old axis

draw borders of bars inside of the rectangles in a barplot
I recommend instead of no border, that you use a border with the same color as the fill. I do this in the likert functions in the HH package. draw borders of bars inside of the rectangles in a barplot
Dear R-users, I want to draw a barplot with beside=TRUE. One halve of the bars are drawn with a border, while the other halve are drawn without a border (i.e. filled bars vs. non-filled bars next to each other). Because borders are drawn around the bars, doing this leads to one halve of the bars being wider than the other halve, expanding across the 0-point of the y-axis. This problem emerges

barplot() using beside=TRUE and the density argument
Hi I am using barplot() to draw some barplots, with a matrix as the data so that multiple bars are drawn for each data point. I want to use the argument "beside=TRUE" to juxtapose the bars instead of stacking them. If I execute: barplot(data,names.arg=names,density=c(20,10),beside=FALSE) I get the expected behaviour i.e. the bottom part of the column is shaded 20 lines per inch, the

barplot x-axis problem
Hi R-users, I'm new to R and I'm trying to make a barplot combined with two lines (refering to secondary y-axis). Bars should represent the number of transfused patients by age class and sex and lines should represent the amount of blood units given in age classes. I have now successfully made a barplot and used par(new=TRUE) to plot another empty graph at the top of the barplot.

How to pass a character argument which contains expressions to arg.names in barplot?
Hi all Can anybody help me with this? I am trying to include in an automatic way the argument in arg.names in a barplot. I generate the labels I want to appear below the bars with a for loop, and they contain subscripts, so I need to use expression anch<-0.05 esp<-4 for (i in 1:dim(Ntot)[1]) { naux<-Ntot[i,] naux2<-naux[naux>0] nind<-which(naux>0)

barplot and NA
Am I wrong that barplot is supposed to just skip NAs, and continue with the rest of the data in a matrix column? That's how I read various posts on the subject. But that's not what happens for me with R64.app (on a Mac, obviously). For example: d0 <- as.matrix(c(2,3,4)) d1 <- as.matrix(c(2,3,NA)) d2 <- as.matrix(c(2,NA,4)) d3 <- as.matrix(c(NA,3,4)) barplot(d0) barplot(d1)

Problem with x labels of barplot
Hello everyone, i am currently creating a barplot. This barplot takes a vector of ~200 datapoints. Each datapoint represents one bar. http://img96.imageshack.us/i/human1w.png/ (Ok as you see, it is not only one barplot, but a series of barplots). Now, these barplots represent a human chromosome. This means they are ordered. For instance bar number 50, means position 50 in the human chromosome.

gap.barplot doesn't support data arrays?
I am trying to make a barplot with a broken axis using gap.barplot (in the indispensable plotrix package). This works well when the data is a vector: > twogrp<-c(rnorm(10)+4,rnorm(10)+20) > gap.barplot(twogrp,gap=c(8,16),xlab="Index",ytics=c(3,6,17,20),ylab="Group values",main="Barplot with gap") But when the data is an array (for a bar plot with multiple

barplot() x axes are not updated after removal of categories from the dataframe
Hi all, I'd be grateful for your help. I am a new user struggling with a barplot issue. I am plotting categories (X axis) and their mean count (Y axies) with barplot(). The first call to barplot works fine. I remove records from the dataframe using final=[!final$varname == "some value",] I echo the dataframe and the records are no longer in the dataframe. When I call plot again

Reverse legend label order in barplot
Hi list, I've thus far not found a solution to my problem and hope someone can help. I have a data matrix and wish to plot a stacked bar plot using barplot(). This is simple enough, but I have a problem with the legend labels being in the reverse order from what I want. The default appears to have labels ascending bottom-to-top reflecting bottom-to-top sub-bars, but I would like the

superposing barplots having different scales
Hello. I know how to make a bar plot in which a numeric y variable is plotted against some grouping variable X (say, groups A, B, C) when this grouping variable is subdivided into each of two subgroups; so the bars would be: (group A subgroup 1) beside (group A subgroup 2), then (group B subgroup 1) beside (group B subgroup 2), and so on. This is done using the beside=TRUE argument in the

How to vary the distance between the pairs of a side-by-side barplot?
Hello, for my project I wanted to create a side-by-side barplot. For each of 143 treatments there are always two measurement. This two measurements (a pair) are represented by a red resp. a yellow bar. I was able to write the code for the side-by-side barplot. Unfortunately however I am not able to vary the distance between the measurement pairs ( the distance from one red-yellow bar pair to the
