Script to count unique values from two linked matricies
I hope you can help with this one.
I have two matricies:
1. A species abundance matrix:
<http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/file/n4643979/2species_matrix.jpg>
2. A species trait score matrix:
<http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/file/n4643979/2trait_matrix.jpg>
The trait matrix lists trait scores for each species as listed in the
species abundance matrix.
I would like to create a script

Combine two matricies
Hi,
I have two matricies a and x:
a<-matrix(c(3,4,5,2,3,4,1,1,2), nrow=3, ncol=3)
[,1] [,2] [,3]
[1,] 3 2 1
[2,] 4 3 1
[3,] 5 4 2
x<-matrix(c(3, NA, NA, NA, 2, 5, NA, 2, 2), nrow=3, ncol=3)
[,1] [,2] [,3]
[1,] 3 NA NA
[2,] NA 2 2
[3,] NA 5 2
I wish to combine these two into one matrix using the values from x where x has values, and

correlation matricies: getting p-values?
I have to admit that I'm at a bit of a loss here; any pointers would be
greatly appreciated.
I've been making correlation matricies from some of my datasets, and
have been instructed to get the probability values for each of these
correlations.
I've checked the online help for info on both the cor and cov functions,
but I was unable to find any relevant info on finding how to obtain

Regression with sparse matricies
I would like to run a logistic regression on some factor variables (main
effects and eventually an interaction) that are very sparse. I have a
moderately large dataset, ~100k observations with 1500 factor levels for one
variable (x1) and 600 for another (X2), creating ~19000 levels for the
interaction (X1:X2).
I would like to take advantage of the sparseness in these factors to avoid
using GLM.

Bitrate Adaption
Hi,
I've been reading through the Theora format spec and API reference trying to find an answer to this but haven't come across anything certain. I'm wondering whether it would be theoretically possible to change the encoded bit rate (or target video qiality) during a live stream without a standard theora decoder having any problems.
I had assumed that this must be possible, given

cmdscale question
Hi.
I know matrices that use distances between places works fine when using
cmdscale. However, what about matricies such as:
A B C D E
A 0 1 23 12 9
B 1 0 10 12 3
C 23 10 0 23 4
D 12 12 23 0 21
E 9 3 4 21 0
i.e. matrices which do not represent physical distances between places (as
they would not make sense for real distances such as the one above)

Crazy idea for a portable CentOS installation
I've got CentOS up and running on my hp pavilion laptop. There wasn't
enough space on the internal hard drive to shrink the NTFS partition
and install CentOS there, and I didn't want to go through the exercise
of copying everything to a new larger internal drive until I knew 5
was going to work, so it's installed on an external USB drive --
except for /boot which had to be on the

script/console cursor goes crazy sometimes on XP
I''m on WinXP SP2, Ruby 1.8.4, Rails 1.1.2.
Sometimes when I''m editing a line in script/console - that is, I''m using
the cursor keys or backspace key to edit the text on the current line -
the cursor suddenly flies off to the previous line out in space
somewhere, and typing anything after that just results in characters
being entered at weird places.

Is this model ordering logical or crazy?
Bit of a mind-bender here...
I''m got a model that tracks rules that are applied to different
levels of product data, including:
Make, Product Range, Model, Derivative. There''s a RuleLevel class to
represent each level and has a column position. It looks something
like this:
class RuleLevel < ActiveRecord::Base
include Comparable
def +(offset)

read server certificate B: certificate verify failed error is driving people crazy
It seems like there must be a better way of dealing with these errors
in a puppermaster-agent setup.
I currently have one master and one agent that work, running on ubuntu
10.10 (maverick meerkat server).
On another machine, same os and hardware, I try installing with the
same steps and when I run
sudo puppet agent --test --verbose --debug --server <serverhostname>,

Rake plugin tests are not run anymore (rake 0.8.4 or 0.8.3) !

No test is run, no output of the usual number of assertions, number of
tests...
rake output is

Crazy IP-Communication
Hi there,
in a specal case I want to send IP packets from one IP address to another IP
address on the same multihomed linux box. The problem is, that the packets
should leave the box by passing one ethernet interface, go through a
hub/switch and get back into the box via the second interface.
Well, this sounds crazy.
Anyway, does anyone know a solution?

SLA in 1.4.18: i'm going crazy.
Hi all,
i'm trying from several days to setup a SLA on my machine with some
THOMSON 2030.
My goal is to bind every F key to an extension (NOT a trunk).
So, F1 = 201, F2 = 202, F3 = 203, and so on...
I'm googled thousand of pages and many more confusing concepts are in my mind.
My server uses extensions with numbering 2XX placed in context 'phones'.
I set yet in sip.conf:

OT - What are these crazy messages?
I'm just dying to know what the origin of these messages with the txt
attachments is. I get quite a few here, and even some in other mailing
lists. But they're all unique; the attachment filename starts with ATT
(followed by four or five digits), and are 192 bytes long. The senders
are often different.
Anyone got a bead on this?

Mouse crazy on Full screen app + Tablet PC
Hi, I don't really expect this to get fixed but I have an issue and I was hoping someone would be able to at least diagnose it. I have a X41T Thinkpad. It is a tablet pc and when I have a full screen app (i.e. game) open the digitizer pen goes nuts.
The cursor tries to go off the screen. Holding it perfectly still will cause the mouse to glide slowly across the screen while moving it
