Xen and TLS, -mno-tls-direct-seg-refs needed?
Hi,
The Gentoo-Wiki about Xen suggests, to add "-mno-tls-direct-seg-refs" to
CFLAGS and to recompile the whole system. So it seems, NPTL will work
without problems (and without performance drawback) after that.
Sweet!
But i carefully read http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenSpecificGlibc,
and it says:

[Slightly OT] Do you use virtualization in production ?
Hi!
I''ve been using parallels, vmware player, or virtual pc (did not try xen
yet) for development, testing and experimenting with new platforms (and I
must say I love them - copy paste a few files, and I have a clean deployment
box etc)
Since the RailsConf and various talks I''ve seen (like Jason Hoffmann''s

AMD 64 single core and vmware
...months ago, I started using vmware w/this same setup and, I think it
was Aleksandar Milivojevic and directed me to a link to a white paper or

typematic and time sync. I believe that the tweaks actually took away
the power saving features of the cpu and set the processor at one steady
speed.
I thought I saved that page somewhere

I've been trying to get some old games running with NO success...
Here are the results when using Transgaming's WineX CVS from today. I've
tried both winehq 20010629 and 20010729 also, with (almost) the same

Samba Variables and TCP/IP Throughput
Hi,
I am trying to optimize my gigabit network. I have two Intel 1000 MT Gigabit
Server Adapters, which support Jumbo Frames -- as well as a Switch that
supports Jumbo Frames. However, I am observing some strange behavior in my file
transfers from Windows XP to Linux and I am wondering if it has anything to do
with the way the Samba variables are set on my Linux box?
The "strange

Again Asterisk and VMWare - it works now!
Hi,
I have succeed using Asterisk on VMWare on an Athlon@1GB with 128 MB
allocated for the Linux virtual machine.
I have connected this PBX with another one using IAX/GSM. I can call the
other part and the sound is great, without any interruption.
The phone used is a Cisco7960 with G.711, so still a codec conversion is in
place (GSM/G.711) and Asterisk/VMWare Wkst performs very well.
The problem
