Help with gamm errors
Dear All Hopefully someone out there can point out what I am missing! I have a (large, several hundred) dataset of gardens in which over two years the presence/absence of a particular bird species is noted each week. I have good reason to believe there is a difference between the two years in the weekly proportion of gardens and would like to assess this, before going on to look in more detail at

equating approximate values
Hello List, I am having trouble finding the command for my problem. I have two arrays x and y. now i would like to compare the values of x and y and then get the index of x which is exactly or approximately equal(+/- some value ) to the values in y. x <- runif(100,min=0,max=5) y <- runif(10,min=0,max=5) the threshold value(+/-) value can vary. for this example lets take it to be .5

Date Time Conversion problems...
At one time (version 1.7), the code below used to work for converting and extracting based on the Date Time. In version 1.8.1, something changed I know, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what... Creating "%d/%m/%Y %H:%M:%S" format from separate date and time columns
Hi R forum, Each row of my data (below) show a new contact event between animals. In order to ultimately look at the patterns of intervals between contacts, I need to calculate a contact end time. The contact starts at the date and time shown in V4 and V5, and lasts for the duration shown IN SECONDS in V6: > data2<- read.csv(file=file.choose(), header=F, sep=" ") >

How to plot two lines, and only one line with errorbar by qqplots of R
Here is my code, which plots three lines with errorbar. How could I add an extra line without errorbar to the plot? Thank you very much. beta.data <- data.frame ( method = rep(c("Wrong", "Correct", "Full Bayes"), each = T_obs), mean.beta = c(mean.beta1, mean.beta2, mean.beta3), t = rep(points, 3), std.beta = c(std.beta1, std.beta2, std.beta3) ) limits =

Reshape from long to wide format with date variable
Hi, I need to reshape my dataframe from a long format to a wide format. Unfortunately, I have a continuous date variable which gives me headaches. Consider the following example: > id=c("034","034","016","016","016","340","340") > date=as.Date(c("1997-09-28", "1997-10-06", "1997-11-04",

plotting a double y axis when x and y lengths differ
Hello All, Many thanks to the help I have received so far. Here is an example data set I hope to plot Data1 Year Data SE 1 2005 2 0.01 2 2006 4 0.01 3 2007 5 0.01 4 2008 2 0.01 5 2009 3 0.01 6 2010 6 0.01 Data2 Year Data SE 1 2006 32 1 2 2007 100 2 3 2008 60 4 4 2009 67 3 5 2010 8 1 Notice Data2 has one less years worth of data than Data1 (which is my

Lattice question: plotting two sets of data, defining groups for the second set
R friends, I'm running R 2.7.2 on Windows XP SP2. I have some data that's amenable to smoothing, and some that's not. I'm trying to plot smoothed lines for the former along with just points for the latter in a single panel. The problem comes when trying to break out the points by group. My sample code follows. data1 <-

scaling axes when plotting multiple data sets
1) When adding additional data sets to a plot using "plot" followed by "lines", is there a way to automate the scaling of the axes to allow for all data sets to fit within the plot area? 2) I attempted to solve this by setting xlim=c(min(c(data1,data2,data3)),max(c(data1,data2,data3))) however, there are some NAs and Infs in these data sets, and min(data1) and max(data1) both

covariance of equal date values
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I need to count the covariance of two time series. Both of them contain the dates' vector and vector of values. But the dates are not the same. It means some dates of first ts are not in the second respectively. And I need the covariance of same dates, of course. Could anyone help me, please? Thank you. lukas - -- Lukas Kubin lukas.kubin at

Stacked geom_bar with aggregated SE -ggplot2
Hi there,? I've been battling with an extension of this in my own data: getting appropriate error bars once data is stacked in a bar graph.? (original question: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/ggplot2-se-variable-in-geom-errorbar-s-limits- td3311176.html). It wouldn't let me reply to that thread. A modification of the earlier answer:? data(diamonds)? ?diamonds_df <- ddply(diamonds,

Dates in Common
I have two collections of dates and I want to figure out what dates they have in common. This is not giving me what I want (I don't know what it is giving me). What is the best way to do this? lattice and dates (correcting e-mail formatting glitch - sorry!!)
Hi I'm fairly new to R and the list, so please take what I say accordingly! Far as I can see, strptime gives you a string in some specified format. In order to do any kind of numerically-based modelling with that, you need to obtain a number to work with. One way to do this is by getting the time with Sys.time() instead and coercing it to a number using as.integer(): >

plotting multiple CIs
Hello, I need to plot multiple confidence intervals for the same model parameter e.g. so for the same value of the parameter in point x_1 I would like to see four different confidence intervals so that I can compare the accuracy e.g. boot basic vs normal vs my own vs classic lm CI etc. I like very very much the plotCI implemented here: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/plotrix/index.html

Help with plotting a line that is multicoloured based on levels of a factor
Hi All, I'm trying to plot data that is a time series of flows that are associated with a specific level, and I would like each level to represent a colour in a line plot. Here is some data that approximates what I'm using: date=c(1:300) flow=sin(2*pi/53*c(1:300)) levels=c(rep(c("high","med","low"),100)) data=cbind.data.frame(date, flow, levels)

loop through and modify multiple data frames
Hi Newbie question: I have a set of data frames that I want to do the same calculations on each. I've found out that I can put them in a list and loop through the list to do the calculation, but not put the results back into each data.frame.. For example three data frames cats, dogs, birds where >cats name eats_kg 1 bob 3 2 garfield 4 3 chuck 6 and dogs and birds are similar but not

Help useRs to use R's own Time/Date objects more efficiently
This is mostly a RFC [but *not* about the many extra packages, please..]: Noticing to my chagrin how my students work in a project, googling for R code and cut'n'pasting stuff together, accumulating this and that package on the way all just for simple daily time series (though with partly missing parts), using chron, zoo, lubridate, ... all for things that are very easy in base R *IF*

why the same values cannot be judged to be the same in R
Hi Rusers, I found sometimes that the same values cannot be judged to be the same in R. Anybody knows the probelm? I think i ignored some minor detail. Thanks. Here is the example. ############ data1<-matrix(data=c(1,1.2,1.3,"3/23/2004",1,1.5,2.3,"3/22/2004",2,0.2,3.3,"4/23/2004",3,1.5,1.3,"5/22/2004"),nrow=4,ncol=4,byrow=TRUE)
