Add coordinates at specific points...
Hi, all: I used two lines of very simple code to draw a sin curve. dev.new(width = 640, height = 480) > plot(sin, -pi, 2*pi) Now, I added a specific line (red line in the picture at http://www.visionopen.com/Rplot.png) by using abline. However, I still love to add the X-coordinate "2.50000" outside the rectangle box. How to do it in R? Right now, I'm using Windows Paint to add

How to get legend outside of plot?
I am creating a CDF plot function more user-friendly than any default r function. Depending upon the bimodality of the data (it is often bimodal), or any other strange data trends, the points can end up gathering in just about any corner of the plot. So, when I add a legend, whether I choose to add it in the bottom right, top left, or wherever, it will sometimes end up putting the legend right

Wishlist: simple legend options (PR#7400)
Full_Name: Elizabeth Purdom Version: 1.9.1 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (171.64.102.199) It would be nice if legend had the option of some default locations you could choose instead of entering specific coordinates, like "topleft", "topright","topcenter", etc. based on par("usr") coordinates. I know I've wanted it so often I've made my

Automatically placing a legend in an area with the most white space...
At one point I believe I heard of an R package that would automatically find the most empty space in a plot, and then that answer could then be used to intelligently place a legend. I would like to try to apply that R package to the contrived example shown below, so thank you for any hints or tips that can be provided. x = seq(0, 1000, by = 1) y1_vals<-rnorm(1000, mean = 0, sd = 50)

Align legend title
Dear R developers, I needed to align the title of legend for some of my plots. If there is interest to include this into base R, bellow are the examples and the relevent diffs. Regards, Gregor x <- 1:10 y1 <- 1.5 * x y2 <- 2.0 * x y <- cbind(y1, y2) source(file=url("http://gregor.gorjanc.googlepages.com/legend.R")) matplot(x, y, type="l", lty=c(1, 2)) ##

manipulating (extracting) data from distance matrices
Hi all, Does anyone have any tips for extracting chunks of data from a distance matrix? For instance, if one was interested in only a subset of distance comparisons (i.e., that of rows 4 thru 6, and no others), is there a simple way to pull that data out? >From some playing around with an example (below), I've been able to figure out that a distance matrix in R is stored as a single

R implementations of scatterplot/map labeling algorithims?
Dear R community In a current paper, I'm (briefly) considering the topic of producing scatterplots or maps with point labels positioned in such a way as to minimize label overlap and occlusion. This is a topic with a large, but scattered literature. In CS, it is considered NP-hard, but there are a variety of approximate solutions. The most complete bibliography I've found is the

Placing the legend 'dynamically'
Hello, does anybody know which command to consider when I'm trying to plot a stacked barplot with a legend at the most empty portion of the graphic? I've searched for it, and somebody stated to use the labcurve-command, but I don't know how to produce stacked barplots with it. Is there any possibility to plot a legend box "dynamically" (= in an empty region) with the

Automatic placement of Legends
Dear R-Users, I am looking for a way to get legends placed automagically in an empty spot on a graph. Additional complication comes through my useage of multiple graphs on the same plot through mfrow. Is there a way to achieve this in R ? I have legends for each of the sub-plots. Many thanks in advance, Tolga Generally, this communication is for informational purposes only and it is not
