how to make R overlook string character
I am really new to R and would appreciate some help to sort out a problem with data extraction from a large file. I have entered the following command to filter data from a large data set called "upanddown" such that those records in upanddown corresponding to blockType=3'UTR are transferred to a new file called "new": new<-sqldf("select * from upanddown where

help with interpreting what nnet() output gives:
Greetings list, I am new to programming in R, and am using nnet() function for a project on neural networking. Firstly I wish to ask if there is any pdf explaining the algorithm nnet uses, which could tell me what the objects of the nnet class, like 'conn', 'nconn, 'nsunits', n and 'nunits' mean, and how weights are calculated. The package pdf has little or no

Could not find createData function
Hi, I am using "*Maanova* package" to do anova. I have created *datafile* with probeID as the first column, which is a tab limited text file and also created *designfile*. I have created *readma object* which is named as abf1. >From that readma object, i have to create data object by using *createData*function and also i hav to create model object by using *makemodel* function,

R project global options file
Hello R-help, I currently have R-project 3.4.2 and R-studio 1.1.383 installed on some of our universities computer labs. Since the installation of Visual studio the default version of R installed has changed to the version installed by VS. Users can change the default R version: found in R studio global options but users need to do this every session. Is there a file or

Export csv data
Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the help with the previous queries. Here is what i want to do. i have 20000 probesets-->calculate all the variance accross all the probesets-->filter out probesets that are low so now i ended up with only 10000. The 10000 is fine but when i export to excel, it is missing the probeID. Here are my code and examples. #########calculate the variance across the

accessing current factor in tapply
G'Day, I want to access in a function called from tapply the current factor. In my example below, all I want to do is to write the current factor on each histogram. Needless to say my example does not work. I would be grateful for pointers in the right direction. Many thanks Bernie McConnell Sea Mammal Reserach Unit cc <- 1:10 ff <- rep(c("a","b"),5) pp<-

Tru64 Samba queue display problem
Hi, I'm having problems with the queue on a Tru64 box running Samba 2.2.4. When the queue is viewed from a client machine it displays a print job with fields equivalent to the first line the lpq command outputs. For example, lpq returns: # lpq -P itsgp_css1 crow.qut.edu.au: Tue May 14 09:23:54 2002: no entries Then if I get on a client machine (Win2k) and look at the queue there is a

[LLVMdev] Performance impact of different optimization passes
Hi, I was wondering if there is a paper or a technical report that documents the performance impact of the different optimizations passes on a some set of benchmarks. Is something like this available ? Best regards, Ahmed -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Biased calculations from using rmultinom?
Dear R users, This is a problem that has puzzled me for quite some time, and I wonder if anyone could offer me an insight to what is happening? I generated a multinomial matrix by using A<-rmultinom(100,1,c(0.4,0.3,0.2,0.1), and multiply this matrix by a set of values say B<-runif(n,100,50). I then calculate var(colSums(A*B)). I was able to work out the theoretical mean of

Hi everyone, I?m a graduate student in a Brazilian Intitute of Technology, and I?m doing some academic research regarding secure voice transmission over phone lines. One of our reserach goals is to implement a hardware vocoder, with low bit rates, and a preferably free algorithm, to be used in this secure voice system. Actually, there is a functional system using a proprietary AMBE

Re: ESS & R data import problems
I have a similar question, I know about --vsize, but I use R under Emacs using ESS. I know there is an easy way to call R from ESS with command line options but I don't remember how. I can't find help on this in ESS documentation or in R documentation. Could someone please remind me how this is done. ------------------------------------ | Robert Denham | |

[bug report] Cyrillic letter "я" interrupts script execution via R source function
Hello, I do not have an account on R Bugzilla, so I will post my bug report here. I want to report a very old bug in base R *source()* function. It relates to sourcing some R scripts in UTF-8 encoding on Windows machines. For some reason if the UTF-8 script is containing cyrillic letter *"?"*, the script execution is interrupted directly on this letter (btw the same scripts are sourcing
