Wine runs your malware!
http://www.trustedsource.org/blog/186/Running-Windows-Malware-in-Linux So: avoid running toxic waste, and use a fresh .wine and run ClamAV over it regularly if you're fond of trying random binaries found on the Net a lot ;-) - d.

Linux malware attack
SlashDot had an article today on a Linux server malware attack, <http://it.slashdot.org/story/14/03/18/2218237/malware-attack-infected-25000-linuxunix-servers>. I wonder if there is a simple test to see if a CentOS machine has been infected in this way? The article mentions Yara and Snort rules to test for this, but I wonder if there is something simpler? Alternatively, are there Yara or

Recommendations for image malware detection?
Hello all -- This is not a CentOS specific question, but I have a feeling some of you are involved in enterprise malware efforts, so here goes. Does anyone have recommendations for malware detection that includes detection in image files? I'm looking for something that could be integrated into a batch cron process as opposed to a client end download check. Thanks. --

testing shorewall6 on a virtual machine
I want to test shorewall6 in a scenario with several virtual machines. Each virtual machine has the interface eth0. With IPv4, I would assign an IP-alias to eth0:1 and so would have eth0 and eth0:1 as interfaces for shorewall6. How is this done with IPv6? Shorewall 4.5.4 Beta 3
4.5.4 Beta 3 is now available for testing. I apologize for the back-to-back Betas but I guess it''s better to find these problems during the Beta period rather than later. Problems corrected: 1) This release includes all defect repairs from Shorewall 4.5.3.1. 2) When EXPORTMODULES=No in shorewall.conf, the following errors were issued: /usr/share/shorewall/modules: line 19:
