Saved EPS does not match screen when using bquote(.(i))
Here's a fairly minimal-case example in which the saved EPS does not match the screen. The error comes when using bquote(.(i)) instead of bquote(1), as demonstrated by the two minimally different cases below. Very strange. Any clues as to why? #---------------- begin ------------------- # Version A. X axis labels have subscripts as constants. EPS is correct. windows() layout( matrix( 1:2 ,

adding bmp/jpg/gif to an existing plot
Hi, all. I searched a lot at mailing list, installed EBImage and gtk packages, but I couldn't make this simple work: How to add a image file (jpg or bmp ou gif) to an existing plot window (not plot over the image), like the code below (pseudo function add.image): plot(1:10,1:10,main="test") image = read.X("myimage.jpg") add.image(image, x.left=2, y.bottom=4,

Export in pdf, png, jpg, eps, etc...
Dear R-users, I have created a bunch of R scripts that automatically create multiple plots, all saved in a pdf device. I initially chose pdf output in order to easily access to multiple plots in a single file. Now, I am trying to play with different devices, like png or eps and I realize that the settings I used to have nice plots in a pdf device are giving awful outputs with the other

Empirical Bayes Estimator for Poisson-Gamma Parameters
Dear Sir/Madam, I apologize for any cross-posting. I got a simple question, which I thought the R list may help me to find an answer. Suppose we have Y_1, Y_2, ., Y_n ~ Poisson (Lambda_i) and Lambda_i ~Gamma(alpha_i, beta_i). Empirical Bayes Estimator for hyper-parameters of the gamma distr, i.e. (alpha_t, beta_t) are needed. y=c(12,5,17,14) n=4 What about a Hierarchal B ayes

bmp
Hi R users, I already had post this question under the title of bmp header, there was a mistake in my post. The following is the same post without the mistake. Thanks Rostam I have a xml file. A value of one of the nodes of the xml file is a bmp image encoded in base64. I would like to read this image by R. I think I should do the following steps: 1. Decoding it from base64 to binary. 2.

Windows BMPs: Why grey background? How to display BMP in R?
"white" is supposed to be the default background for BMPs (according to ?bmp) but it doesn't work > bmp("test.bmp", bg="white") > plot(0) > dev.off() # results in grey background # This seems to be a good enough workaround for now. > bmp("test.bmp") > par(bg="white") > plot(0) > dev.off() # background is white

Generating 1-bit and 8-bit BMP files using R
Hi, I'm trying to use the data which I generate within R to make images in .bmp format to be lateron printed by a printer. My first thought was the RImageJ package, but this seems to be discontinued. What I am currently doing is generating a matrix of grey values, which needs to be parsed into the right image format. Is anyone aware of a package or rather "easy" way to generate

reading BMP or TIFF files
I realize that this question has been asked before (2003); From: Yi-Xiong Zhou Date: Sat 22 Nov 2003 - 10:57:35 EST but I am hoping that the answer has changed. Namely, I would rather read the BMP (or TIFF) files directly instead of putting them though a separate utility for conversion as suggested by, From: Prof Brian Ripley Date: Sat 22 Nov 2003 - 15:23:33 EST "Even easier is

crash using bmp() on windows with Rdll2010 (PR#756)
A few weeks ago I have updated R-1.1.1 for Windows with the fixed R.dll (Rdll2010.zip) for Win2k from CRAN. (I have used the same version of R from WinNT4 *and* Win2k for some time.) Now I tried to produce a bitmap, but R crashes (WinNT4): bmp("bitmap.bmp") plot(1:10) dev.off() ## crash! That does not happen with the original R.dll from R-1.1.1 (15 Aug 2000). I cannot test on

dxf() like bmp() or postscript()?
hi- I have been using postscript()and contour() to do quick plots of geological sufaces and it would be handy to be able to dump a plot as an autocad dxf file for vector import into autocad. A search of rhelp of 99 thru 01 gave no matches for dxf. Any suggestions for a dxf or dump of a plot as vectors? Thanx Thanx Robert (Bob) L Sandefur Principal Geostatistician Pincock Allen & Holt
