re-ordering x-lables using barchart()
Hi R Users, I'm trying to re-order the "site names" ("Waseca", "Morris", ...). I'm using following code: libarry(lattice) barchart(yield ~ variety | site, data = barley, groups = year, layout = c(6,1), aspect=.7, ylab = "Barley Yield (bushels/acre)", scales = list(x = list(abbreviate = TRUE, rot=45,

lattice: showing panels for factor levels with no values
How to show panels for factor levels of conditioning variables which do have no values? E.g. there are panels for "Grand Rapids" when they have values: data( barley ) with( barley, dotplot(variety ~ yield | year * site, layout=c(6,2) ) ) There are no panels for "Grand Rapids" when there are no values for "Grand Rapids": my.barley <- subset( barley, ! Lattice : factor levels in the margins
Hello ! I'm struggling again against lattice graprhics. ;) I'm trying to produce a conditionnal xyplot with two conditionning factors (let's say A and B). I want the levels of those factors (A1, A2, etc) to show in the margins of the lattice plot, not in the strips between the panels. A1 A2 A3 plot11 plot12 plot13 B1 plot21 plot22 plot23 B2 I managed to remove the

memory problems when combining randomForests
Dear all, I am trying to train a randomForest using all my control data (12,000 cases, ~ 20 explanatory variables, 2 classes). Because of memory constraints, I have split my data into 7 subsets and trained a randomForest for each, hoping that using combine() afterwards would solve the memory issue. Unfortunately, combine() still runs out of memory. Is there anything else I can do? (I am not using

[help] simulation of a simple Marcov Stochastic process for population genetics
Hi, this is my first time using R. I want to simulate the following process: "in a population of size N, there are i individuals bearing genotype A, the number of those bearing A is j in the next generation, which following a binominal distribution (choose j from 2*N, the p is i/2*N), to plot the probability of the next generations, my script is as follows. It cannot run successfully,

Hi, I had the following code: testp <- rcorr(t(datcm1),type = "pearson") mat1 <- testp[[1]][,] > 0.6 mat2 <- testp[[3]][,] < 0.05 mat3 <- mat1 + mat2 The resulting mat3 (smaller version) matrix looks like: NA 0 0 0 0 NA 0 NA 0 0 NA 2 0 0 2 NA To get to the number of times a '2' appears in the rows, I was

Dynamic load library problem using R 4.0.0
I'm having problems getting code that runs under 3.6.1 on MacOSX (and Ubuntu) to run the R version 4.0.0 on Windows. I have not tested R 4.0.0 on mac (yet). Key question: Has anything changed in R 4.0.0/Windows regarding how dynamically loaded libraries are accessed? Can someone please point me in the right direction? other than default labels in lattice plot
Dear all I solved a problem of customised labels on strips and boxes in bwplot by this construction. > bbb <- bwplot(zavoj ~ typmleti | pu) > bbb$condlevels$pu <- c("Povrchov? ?prava", "Bez PU") > bbb$x.limits <- c("Mleto", "Mleto a s?tov?no", "Nemleto") > bbb but I wonder if some other easy option exist. Let say something

Need help: Loading a large data set.
Hi All, I am dealing with a large data set which translates in to a sparse matrix, I want to load this data that is spread in approximately 17000+ files each defining a row and each file has variable number of records that come with its column number and the value that they store. I wish to load this data in memory from these files one by one. Is there anyway I can do this in R, before I start

[LLVMdev] mixed bc file
I have a question with llvm-gcc and llvm-gfortran. Is it possible that llvm-ld can combine different bc files compiled from C programme and Fortran Programme together? For example: Compile a c program into llvm bc file by the task: # llvm-gcc -emit-llvm test.c -c -o test.bc and then compile a fortran program into llvm bc file by the task: # llvm-gfortran -emit-llvm testf.f -c -o testf.bc And

Using a string as a variable name - revisited
I would like to revisit a problem that was discussed previously (see quoted discussion below). I am trying to do the same thing, using a string to indicate a column with the same name. I am making "foo" a string taken from a list of names. It matches the row where "item" = 5, and picks the corresponding "taxon" > foo <- list$taxon[match(5,list$item)] Let's

vcov.nlminb
Hello all, I am trying to get the variance-covariance (VCOV) matrix of the parameter estimates produced from the nlminb minimizing function, using vcov.nlminb, but it seems to have been expunged from the MASS library. The hessian from nlminb is also producing NaNs, although the estimates seems to be right, so I can't VCOV that way either. I also tried using the vcov function after minimizing

how do I read only specific columns using read.csv or other read function
Hi R people: I have huge files with as many as 5000 columns. I'd really like to read only certain columns of those files. I know column names I want to read. I looked at the documentation of read.csv . Although there is a col.names option, it allows users to specify the names of the columns, rather than to pick the columns of interest. Any suggestions on how to pick the columns I want to
